alhamd welcome to another the episode of
the rights to be observed as part of
this Islamic education course and there
are many different rights as we heard
and it continues to be and it's
something that our life is about
fulfillment of these rights according to
the Quran and the Sunnah of the
prophet and we're being brief and we
need to expand on this and we need to
apply it in our life so that Allah
subhana tala will bless us with more and
more of the knowledge of the Deen of
Allah subhana wa tala one of these
rights is the rights of people when they
work when the people are in an
environment where they're earning money
hired by someone so you have the worker
and you have the owner of the work the
boss the manager so there's a
relationship here there for them and
certain rights to be
observed and people of course they seek
Provisions Allah subhana T created us
this way and not everybody is going to
own their work not everybody's going to
be the man manager right so there's
managers and there's workers and this is
how Allah made us in such a way and the
prophets of Allah they worked and they
earned money and it's something that is
mentioned about you know Adam farming
andam with trade
and Muhammad s Ali wasallam was a
Shepherd all of these types of things
and the prophet praising you know for
the person to take the means and he
said for one of you to take his
rope then he goes to the
mountain and he goes to the mountain and
he would get some
wood so he would buy and eat and give
charity is better for him than to seek
charity from people so this is something
definitely that is part of
life uh when it comes to the worker if
you hire someone to work for you there
are certain rights to be observed and
that's why you would find the
governments usually would make sure that
the laws are clear in this subject
because sometimes the greed of people if
it's left to them they would use the
needy uh and things of that nature so
that's why we have it in the dean of al-
Islam one of which is not to give them
work that is beyond their capacity and
this is even something that is mentioned
with regards to the slaves at the time
of the Prophet was something that is
unheard of to humanity when it comes to
slave
and you can imagine that the same thing
you know it should be applied to the
people that are working today the
working force of today prophet he
said your slaves are your brothers but
Allah subhana wa tala made them they
would fix your deficiencies help you
things like this Allah made them you
made you in charge of
them whoever his brother is under his
authority so what should he
do let him eat from what he eats while
and let him wear from what he
wears and do not give them work over
their
capacity and if you give them something
or a job that is beyond their capacity
then help them otherwise this is not
permissible and the prophet never
treated anyone except with goodness even
the servants he would treat them with
kindness he would never hit anyone
whether it's a woman or a servant or
anyone whatsoever unless he's fighting
for the sake of Allah subhana
so he was 10 years old when the prophet
came to Alina and he used to serve the
prophet and he said something very
amazing but it shows the manners of the
prophet he
said he was the best of the people when
it comes to manners Allah subh pra the
prophet indeed you have a great great
manner so he said one time he sent me
for something so I said to
myself you know I said I'm not going to
go but then inside of me as a whisper
that I would do so so he says I went out
was a boy was a young boy and I passed
by the the young children while they
were playing in the market and the
prophet the prophet got me from the back
of his head like this and I looked at
the
prophet and he was
smiling and he said to me oh un this is
a a way to you know call Un call in a
nice
way go where I told you to go so he said
I said
yes I will go a messenger of Allah being
kind being smiling to him not being
harsh and not being thinking that you
have to be harsh to be disciplined
that's why
says I served the prophet for nine years
nine years he
says I've never known anything that
anything anything that I did he would
never tell me why did you do it why did
you do it like this why did you do
that and he never said to me for
something that I didn't
do he never said to me shouldn't you
have done such and such you know the the
normal blaming tone that people would
have on a daily basis the prophet was
away from this also from the rights not
to uh treat him with in an injust way
not to give them their wages on time the
prophet he said three types of people
I'm their enemy I will be in dispute
with them in the day of Resurrection one
of which a man that he hired someone to
work for
him he got him to do his job perfectly
in
full and he did not give him his wage so
this person the prophet will be in
dispute with him in the day of judgment
and he said
give the a give the one that you hired
his wage before his sweat dries that
means don't delay it for days and days
this is not
permissible one of these writ is to have
good manners with them not to harm them
you
know he hit one uh that he was you know
his slave basically so a man was behind
him he said I heard someone behind me
behind me and
says Allah have more power on you more
than you have power over him reminded
him of Allah subhana tala so he says so
I looked to my back and it was the
Messenger s
wasallam said oh messenger of
Allah he's free for the sake of Allah he
freed his slave so the prophet Alat
wasam said to him
if you have not done this the how fire
would have burned you in the day of Al
because of what he
did so he expiated that sin by freeing
his
slave and where is that on in the world
that at the time of the prophet and the
amount of abuse and racism and all kinds
of things this is the beauty of the dean
of Allah subhana tala and uh to show
care for them you know for the workers
the prophet Alat he would show care to
others and to the servants and things
like this even when the the the Jewish
boy that used to serve the prophet when
he was sick the prophet kept on visiting
him till when he was dying and he was
sitting by his head and he invited him
to the dean of Al Islam and the young
boy looked at his father basically what
should I do his father said
obey obey the messenger sallam and he
became a Muslim and he died as a Muslim
and the prophet went outside and
says alhamdulillah praise be to Allah
the one that saved him from the h
fire so this is the the rights to be
observed when it comes to show that
concern you know the the rights of the
worker is to be uh protected is for for
the boss or so to show concern towards
him uh also one of the rights that is is
mentioned is that he should be allowed
to do what Allah T obligated him to do
like Salah for example on time fasting H
right the rights that to be observed in
one's life nowadays people when they
have money and they have work they want
to minimize as much as they can when it
comes to their expenses so they would
choose you know for the people to work
many many long hours for them why so
that they don't have have to hire more
than one person but then they work many
hours and then where's the rights in
their life to be observed maybe they're
praying in their workpl for example but
where's the rights of the wife the
rights of the children the rights of the
parents the rights in our life the other
rights that we just heard life is not
just about working working working but
you see the greed of those who have the
power of money right what do they do
they use the need of the people so what
do they do they make them work for long
hours and as a result of that that
person that is working he's in need of
the job so and he's not able to quit and
at the same time he's not able to
fulfill many rights in his life so it's
part of the rights of the workers is to
be allowed to fulfill the rights in
their
life uh and one of which is they would
undermine their rights you know they
they have contracts they bring them from
far distance and things like this and
then they don't give them the right and
they would uh force them to do evil
kinds of things and to abuse them all of
that is of course it's forbidden and
it's something that Allah forbid and
people will be questioned about this he
has the right to take a break and this
is something that the laws would you
know you know consider that but this is
something that is part of our Dean you
know and when M he had the deal with his
father-in-law said to be and he said I
don't want to make it difficult for you
right and to help them that's why they
need to have the rest and things of that
nature and one of which is to be
protected when it comes to uh being um
guaranteed that they will be helped if
they're harmed or something happened in
their
workplace you know they should the
compensation should be there for them
you know and uh the the the prophet
mentioned clearly that people need to
take care of one another especially when
someone is working for example people
need to be there for one another as the
prophet
said there's no believer unless I have
more rights on him than anything in this
life and in the Hereafter Allah says
says Prophet have more rights to the
Believers than their own selves so then
the prophet he said any believer that
dies and he leaves wealth then his his
male relatives should inherit him
according according to the laws of
inheritance and you know and whoever
leaves something or or when it comes to
debt or something like this I will take
care of it so here is you know the the
bait of the Muslims the wealth of the
Muslims but the fact is that the Muslim
is to be protected and one of which is
by also the people that hire him for
work also there's the rights of the the
owner of the job or the basically the
boss or the manager he has rights upon
the workers one of which is uh not to
work in a in a way that a person is not
taking care of his responsibility a
person should you
know as the prophet wasam said if you
are a servant you are responsible when
it comes to the wealth of the one that
you work for so you are responsible
because this is a contract between two
parties to havea to be trustworthy to
have sincerity to have
devotion as the prophet said whoever
deceives us whoever cheat US is not one
of us uh betraying is something that is
Haram to be obedient to your manager in
matters of of course you know if if the
manager tell you to do something that
it's part of your job you do it uh
without of course anything that is
sinful sins are sins and a person should
stay away from disobeying Allah subhana
tala uh to be away from using your
position as a worker when it comes to
gifts for example things of that nature
and this is something that is not
permissible and the prophet
said if the prophet if we hire someone
even when it comes to the wealth of the
Muslims to do something and he gets a
wage as a result of that anything that
is extra that he gets this is basically
cheating this is basic basically
stealing that's why the subject of the
gifts given to the workers is something
that in the dean of Islam is very very
clear the prophet Alat wasam addressed
the people and he said one of you I
would send him to do some work and he
would say or to collect something and he
would say this is for you and this is
for me someone gave me a gift then the
prophet wasallam made a very important
and a clear statement he says that that
makes it clear whether this is
permissible how to differentiate between
what is considered to be bribery versus
something else he
said
if he stayed at his house of his mother
or House of his father that means he's
not doing any work would they give him
gift or the gift was because he is
working and they might benefit from him
so and then the prophet warned the
people against this because this is
something that can make the person enter
the h fire and a person would come in
the day of judgment that with something
that he does not deserve that he earned
it and he does not deserve it and you
know he will be questioned about it in
the day of judgment and he would carry
it on his shoulder whether it's a goat
or a sheep or and the prophet wasallam
even was explicit when it comes to the
sounds that the Sheep would make and the
sound of what the the cow would make you
know and he said to make it clear
that Allah had I had conveyed the
message to make sure that people are
chased and away from uh incurring upon
themselves money that is Haram that is
not permissible we continue in t with
more of these rights uh and different
rights next time
