alhamd another episode of of the rights
to be observed in this course of Islamic
education and with a great rights that
needs to be observed which is the rights
of the
parents and it's a subject that requires
a lot of uh things to be said there's
lot of n lot of text that talks about
the
parents and we all have parents this is
how Allah subh created us Allah subhana
tala is the most wise and what really
makes a person of knowledge is that he
always follows the Revelation from Allah
the Quran and the Sunnah of the
Prophet human beings those who have
decent F and good nature they would
always observe the rights of their
parents or in a sense that they would
want to take care of their parents and
they have many different ways of doing
so but this is to us it's Dean it's
religion this is not just some uh again
wishful thinking this is the religion of
Allah subhana tala that's why there's so
many verses in the Quran and Hadith of
the
Prophet that Allah subhana tala
mentioned in the rights of the parents
and how the parents their favors upon
their offsprings is that they the ones
that Allah subhana T made them the means
to to carry uh the the infant and to
take care of them and it's all by Allah
subhana tala but this is to observe the
rights of the parents whoever do this
then they are the ones that can observe
the rights of Allah subhana tala they're
grateful to Allah subhana tala by being
grateful to the
parents as Allah subh said in the and
the commands of to his son that to be
grateful to Allah and to your parents
and if you're not grateful to your
parents that means you're not grateful
to Allah subhana wa tala and the verses
in the
Quran that Allah subh T mentioned the
goodness towards the parents is not
because of how nice they are to you it's
just for the fact that they are your
parents because it
says if they are your if they are your
mother and father therefore you have to
be kind to them and it's basically when
you look at the rights it's two it's
very easy to understand because it's two
major parts the first one the bit the
righteousness with all what that means
which is to be extremely kind to them
there are details to this versus the
opposite which is the second thing is to
be observed also to stay away from any
anything that and we'll talk about the
definition of this anything that negates
the goodness and the righteousness and
the matters of goodness that needs to be
observed to them it's in the category of
which is a major sin and that is to
cause harm to them or anything of that
nature as for the first one which is to
have the B the righteousness towards
them especially if they're old
especially if they're old of course
because of the fact that when they're
old uh they might be it might be for the
one that is taking care of them it's
irritating and for the those who are old
they need more care so Allah this is
such a detailed subject also Allah
subhana mentioned that clearly in the
Quran when one of them or both of them
they reach Olden age
and it will come do not say of to them
when when a person is old they might be
get irritated easily they might repeat
things over and over again they might
have weaknesses in their own
understanding all kinds of things the
same way that these parents were kind to
the child when he was young and when the
child was a baby and he would say things
over and over again and he would even
they would clean the impurities from him
and they would never complain whatsoever
they wouldn't say why why is asking so
much why is he uh doing you know these
impurities on himself they would never
do such a thing they would take care of
that child so as a result of being
grateful to them is if they reach Olden
age in your lifetime is to take care of
them without complaining without any any
of the things that would negate the
perfect righteousness and goodness
towards them the
prophet when he was asked about the best
of
actions he said
in one of the narrations what is the
most beloved Deeds to Allah subhana tala
he said to pray on time then he was
asked then what's next he
said then to be kind and righteous to
the parents so these are right after the
command to establish the Salah is to be
kind to the pain so the rights of Allah
then comes right after that the most
important people in one's life to
fulfill their rights are the parents
well
so therefore it's it's one of the things
that brings the pleasure of Allah
subhana T onto the person there's a
beautiful Hadith where the prophet he
said where the prophet he
said the pleasure of Allah subhana in
the pleasure of Al Al is the one that
gives birth so it's the father or the
mother
so if they're pleased with you Allah
subh is pleased with you
and and the wrath of Allah subhana wa
tala the anger of Allah subhana wa tala
is upon the one that his parents are
angry with him so basically do not allow
oneself for his parents to be upset with
him you know unless it's a sinful thing
of course sins are not permissible
whatsoever so if the way to please the
parents is to commit a sin no it's for
you to commit a sin so if they get angry
with you as a result of that you have no
sin what but but still even if they get
angry with you even though that it's not
justified from them that means you need
to do acts of righteousness towards them
to offset their being not pleased or
being not happy and things of that
nature to be kind to the parents this is
basically what the prophets are about
this is what the righteous ones as Allah
subhana wa tala when he praised the
prophets of Allah like for example when
he praised them and
saying he was righteous to his parents
and
also when Allah subh
says he said about him that he is kind
to his
mother so these are the prophets of
Allah and we follow the prophets of
Allah and to be kind to our
parents
um is such a an important subject in the
dean of Allah as you see that clearly in
the Quran and in the Sunnah of the
Prophet but there's a a delicate meaning
here which shows how perfect is this
religion there is a a very important
principle in the religion of al- Islam
and that is to be kind to those who are
kind to you because that has an effect
on one's IM and one's faith if someone
is not kind to the ones that are kind to
him right he is more likely not to be an
obedient slave to Allah subhana tal
because that's against the pure nature
that Allah subhana T created us with so
therefore to uh be kind to the parents
is because of this you do not remember
the day that you were born and how they
took care of you you do not remember you
don't see yourself being taken care of
with from your mother or your father
right and that's why Allah is reminding
us right it's different than someone if
if someone is grown up for example and
he's not able to help himself and
someone is devoted to help him and to
clean him and to take care of all of
their needs right that person if Allah
cure him he'll be very grateful to the
one that helped him for free because he
remember he saw that with his own eyes
but the thing is when it comes to the
children when those who are born they
don't see that they don't see yourself
in the wombs of your mother so it's it's
important to establish this in our
hearts and this is part of the goodness
of the Shar and the de of Allah subhana
tala and that's why it's from the noble
etiquet and the noble manners that a
person should be
upon and this is something that was well
known among the Arabs when you know
Mar he he said
to he said what is the among you is a
beautiful word that means nobility
goodness he
said to be kind to the parents and to uh
you know make sure that you don't waste
your money or to take care of one's
wealth so it's part of being Noble
basically by being kind to the parents
one of the great acts of worship when a
man came to the
prophet and he was seeking permission to
go fight for the sake of Allah with the
prophet so the prophet he
said are your parents alive he said
yes then in them make Jihad with your
parents meaning struggle with yourself
to take care of your parents and this is
of course if the Jihad is not mandatory
upon him
so that means you you put all of the
effort that you have like someone is
going fighting for the sake of Allah
he's he's putting his life he might lose
his life right so imagine when the
prophet
said it means you struggle with yourself
you get the best of yourself when it
comes to means of goodness and kindness
to the
parents uh and this is in the same level
of fighting the enemies of Allah
subhana so it's it's basically one of
the means of Salvation in this life and
in the Hereafter you know even in the
long Hadith about the the three men
those who were in a cave and The Rock
the big rock blocked the way out for
them one of them that was the means for
their salvation is that he made Dua to
Allah subhana wa tala with one of his
actions and his action was when he was
kind to his parents and he would not
give even his children the drink of milk
unless the parents they drink first and
because of that Allah subhana tala made
it a mean for them to be saved from the
cave that they were in it's one of the
ways to for the Dua to be accepted by
Allah subhana tala and one of the
amazing uh personalities that we hear
about the the time of the Prophet
is and he was someone that he lost the
level of being a companion of the
Prophet but the prophet said to the
companions there's a man his name is a
and he comes from Yemen and his Dua is
accepted by Allah subhana wa tala why
all of that is because he could not come
to the prophet to be from the Companions
and to see the prophet Alat wasam
because he was kind to his mother he
would not leave her uh without taking
care of her so he stayed with her and he
left that St of being with the
prophet and the prophet praised them as
a result of this so this is one of the
important mean and and a way and a path
to enter the J of Allah subhana tala as
the prophet he
said the parent is the Middle Gate of
Jenna if you want to enter Jen this is
you have a gate an easy way to enter
Jenna is through the righteousness to
the parents how to apply this how to
understand it and comprehend it in a way
that is pleasing to Allah subhana T
we'll talk about that inshalla in the
next episode in the subject of or the
rights of the
parents
