alhamd continuing the rights that need
to be observed in our life as part of
the Islamic education course these
rights even though we are very brief but
it's something that is essential and we
take what is brief and we build on it
and we act upon it Allah subhana would
bless it in our life and the only way
for us to know these rights is through
the Quran and the Sunnah of the
Prophet one of these rights is the
rights of the neighbor the rights of the
neighbor something that is is clearly
stated in the dean of Allah subhana tala
and when it comes to the neighbor one of
the things that comes first when we talk
about the neighbor is to be patient with
the harm that comes to you from your
neighbor and this is one of the means
that Allah subhana T would love a person
if he's patient with his neighbors the
messenger sallallahu alaih
said three types of people Allah subhana
love one of
them and a man that he has a neighbor
that is harming
him that means the fact that he's close
to him is bothering him it's something
that is harmful to
him so he's patient with this
harm till death takes them apart or a
person moves somewhere else he's patient
with it he does not uh you know file
suits against him he does not call the
police on him of course this is as long
as it's not life-threatening or harmful
that is physical harm or so so but being
patient with them and that's why is as
alass he said that the good neighborhood
or the Good Neighbor the one that is
good to his neighbor is not the one that
is just does not harm the neighbor but B
basically the one that has patient when
it comes to the or to the harm that
comes from his
neighbor and of course to understand
this on the other side is that it's one
of the means to enter the h fire as the
prophet he was told that a woman she
prays at night and she fasts during the
day and she does and she do do all kinds
of good deeds and she gives charity
but she harms her neighbors with her
tongue She says bad things about them so
the prophet he said about
her there's no goodness in her she is
from the people of the it's a very
severe warning for something that people
might think the is what sufficient no
the rights of the neighbors is to be
observed um the sin in some cases it's
multiplied when it comes to having the
neighbor is part of the sin as the
prophet
he asked the
companions about the Z about committing
adultery or fornication and they said
Haram this is something that is
forbidden Allah subhana T and his
messenger sallu alaihi wasallam forbid
so the prophet said to
them for a man to have Z adultery with
10 women is much easier and less in
punishment than to have Z with his
neighbor's wife which shows the severity
of it it's not belittling Zena with
other than the neighbors but it shows
the severity of such a crime when it
comes to the neighbors and the same
thing when it comes to stealing for
example you know as the prophet also he
asked them about stealing they said it's
Haram so then the prophet wasam he said
the same thing for for a man to steal
from 10 houses is much easier than to
steal from his neighbor so it's it's not
to approve stealing but it CH CHS the
level of severity of harming the
neighbors so not harm the neighbors the
neighbors but rather do good to them and
this is the or to do matters of goodness
to the neighbors and there's so many
different ways to achieve this to love
for the Neighbors what you love for
yourself as the prophet
said that a person would not complete
his meant that he love for his neighbors
what he love for
himself giving gifts uh when it comes to
food and things like this the
prophet if you cook meat make lots of
soup from it why
because because it becomes more spacious
for the neighbors to give them from what
you cooked uh and then it's it's
something that
is almost sinful even though sometimes a
a person is not aware of what this state
of his neighbors but the prophet he
said he did not believe in me the one
that spend the night
full and his neighbor is hungry next to
him that means he knows exactly that
this is his situation so knowing that
your neighbor is hungry and he's going
to bed hungry if you know that and you
would go to sleep not hungry the prophet
he said he did not believe in me this is
not the way of the
Prophet uh to take care of the Affairs
of the neighbor when he's absent or
after he dies to be kind to them uh to
allow the neighbor for example to
benefit from something that you own as
long as it's not harmful as the prophet
he said clearly in
thei uh a neighbor should not prevent
his neighbor from putting his uh wood uh
on his ceiling or on his wall meaning
when when when The Neighbor shares the
same wall with you you know they have
the same wall and they have to put the
the beams of uh of of wood on top of the
the ceiling for example and you can say
well this is my ceiling don't put
anything on it but how can he strengthen
his house so you should not prevent him
from anything that is benefiting from
him for him as long as it doesn't harm
you this is something that needs to be
observed there is a Hadith of the
Prophet that talks about warning against
harming the neighbor and this is one of
the major sins and the prophet swearing
by Allah subhana tala three
times by Allah he's not he he would not
believe he would not believe he would
not believe they said who is that or
messenger of Allah he
said
the neighbor when he's not safe from the
harm of his neighbor and this is a very
uh delicate subject here it's not about
harming the neighbors here it's about
your neighbor is safe from you then your
neighbor has to feel safe when it comes
to you that means he's not going to harm
me because this is a nice man so that
means what kind of attitude what kind of
a behavior that the person is doing so
that he would make the neighbor
satisfied and reach that conclusion that
he would not be harmed from his
neighbor uh it's one of the things that
makes people curse the person or Allah
subhana tala would curse the one that
would harm his neighbors as a man came
to the prophet and he was complaining
about his neighbor so the prophet said
something to him we might consider it
strange he
said put your furniture on the road so
he did that so the people kept on
passing and they would curse his
neighbor because it's basically he's
doing that because his neighbors are
harming him so the neighbor came to the
prophet Alat and he said you know oh
prophet of Allah see what I am facing
and he said what is what are you facing
from them he said they're cursing me he
said the prophet said to him Allah
cursed you before the people cursed you
so the man
said I would never do it again oh
prophet of Allah so the one uh the other
one came to the prophet Alat and he told
him then remove your furniture so it
shows again that the harm to the
neighbor is such a severe one and we ask
Allah subhana T protect to protect us
also it's one of the things that
prevents the person from entering Jenna
and we heard that in the one that
severed the relationship with the
relatives the same
thing that he would not enter Jenna
meaning from the first instant if you
die in the state of Al Islam the one
that his neighbor is not safe from his
harm so uh when it comes to this
whether the neighbor is Muslim or a
non-muslim both are to be taken care of
you know and
abdah you know he had a goat or a sheep
that was slaughtered in his household
and when he came from outside he said
did you give a gift or part of that to
the to the Jewish neighbor that we have
and he repeated
it you give gift to our Jewish neighbor
then he said I heard the messenger Salli
wasallam
saying that kept on advising me
commanding me to be kind to the neighbor
till I thought that the neighbor will
have a share of The Inheritance so it
shows the importance of it whether he's
a Muslim or a disbeliever it doesn't
matter he's a neighbor the issue is
about being kind to the neighbor because
he's a neighbor that's why the people of
knowledge they say that the neighbors
are of three types the when it comes to
the rights there is the Muslim and he's
a relative and he's a neighbor so he has
three rights here because he has he's a
Muslim so he has the right of Al Islam
he has the right of being neighbor he
has the right of being relative and then
a neighbor that has two rights only
which is a Muslim and he's your neighbor
but he's not a relative so he has two
rights the right of Al Islam and the
right of Al J or to be the neighbor and
a neighbor that has only one right which
is the disbelieving neighbor neighbor
because he's a neighbor so that means
still you have to fulfill the rights of
that neighbor and to be kind to him and
that's why the kindness to the neighbors
includes the close one and the far away
one that means the neighbor that is near
and the one that is far and of course
the one that is closer has more rights
than the one that is farther away as one
asked asked the prophet
I have two neighbors to which one I
should give my or my
gift the prophet said to the one that is
closer to you her her door is closer to
you she has more rights on you than the
one that is further away from you so
these are some of the rights to be
observed towards the neighbors with the
different levels of the neighbors with
the kindness that need to be there with
being patient with them and not to rush
into retaliate or to seek Justice or to
complain or whatever but rather to be
patient and to be obedient to Allah
subhana tala stop here inshallah tal and
with another right to be observed next
time inshallah
tala
