alhamdulillah the chapter that deals
withan and and these are
two commonly used terminologies when it
comes to Salat so what is aan aan
linguistically is to
announce Allah says in the
Quran which translates to that and it is
an
announcement it an aan from Allah and
his Messenger to the people so this is
the linguistic definition of aan to
announce but in
Islamic uh or
legislative um definition it's an
announcement consisting of specific
words that the time for prayer has
begun so it is to announce to the people
that the time has
begun while
is a
announcement calling the people to begin
the prayer specific words that the
prayer is now about to start so the
first one aan is for announcing that the
time is
due is the actual congregation or the
individual who is about to begin the
prayer
when was it prescribed it was
prescribed in the first year of hij as
per the Hadith of Abdullah Z who said
that the prophet Alat wasam instructed
the people to make a
Clapper so that it could be
beaten to announce or to summon the
people to prayer he says that he saw a
man in a a vision in a
dream and he said to him would you sell
me your Clapper and the man said what
are you going to do with it he said I'm
going to summon the people for
prayer and the man said should I show
you something that is
better and as all the companions want
what is best Abdullah Z said of course
so the man said to him you say and he
repeated the phrases of thean allahar
allahar
Allah and
then he came after a while and he said
when you you want to call the people to
the prayer itself which means that the
prayer is about to
begin you say the following and he gave
him the phrases of
the and then he woke up so in the
morning he went and said to the prophet
Alat
wasam about his dream and the prophet
said that this is a true Vision
inshallah go and teach it to
Bal so that he would call the people to
prayer because he has a more beautiful
and softer voice than yours so he taught
it to
bil and Bal gave the
aan Omar may Allah be pleased with him
heard the
aan and came rushing out of his home to
the prophet sallallah alai wasallam and
he said to him by Allah I saw the same
dream oh prophet of Allah and in the
dream I was also taught the same aan so
the prophet said am all praise be to
Allah and this is how the dream that was
a true Vision became the announcement
for prayer all over the world where you
would not find a single area a single
place on Earth that the aan is not being
called Round the Clock Subhan Allah all
over the globe
the same phrases the the same
aan the same
words this is what unites the Muslim all
over the place and the virtues of the
aan is to announce that this Village
this town this city is inhabited by
Muslims the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasam whenever he wanted to
invade a country or a region
he would ask his companions not to do so
until it was the time for
Salat and if they heard aan they knew
that these are Muslims and they would be
left
alone so this beautiful call for
aan what are some of the virtues of
it there are virtues that can't be
counted you cannot
put it into
material the prophet
saidat if people knew what there is of
virtue in the call to prayer and the
first draw and could find no way except
drawing lots for them they would draw
Lots meaning that if the
people knew the reward in calling for
the aan or the reward in standing in the
first draw they would fight over it
until to solve the problem they would
draw the lots to know who would qualify
to call call for the aan or to step in
the first row then they would have done
that unfortunately nowadays you enter
masjids and the Masjid has like 50 or 60
people waiting for the prayer and you
ask has anybody called the Adan they
said no no the MU did not
come so why didn't any one of you step
forward said I
can't Subhan Allah they're shy or
they're ashamed of calling the
aan and this shows how weak the Iman in
people's hearts uh uh is and likewise in
the first St most people fight for the
last row even if they say a spot if they
see a spot in the first row they start
please go ahead no no you go ahead and
invite others to move
forward and neglect this great reward
also the prophet
saidat that the
MU those who call for the aan will be
the people with the longest necks on the
day of Resurrection
and this can be understood
metaphorically in the sense that the
Arabs would call a person with a long
neck meaning that he has honor and he
has
dignity and he has a good reputation
among the people that makes him stand
out in a crowd so some say that it is
not literally that they would have long
neck necks like giraffes for example
rather that they will be
identified on the day of Resurrection
among all the billions and trillions of
people of being people of Honor for
their beautiful job of calling the aan
and Allah Knows
Best
