and welcome back to another session with
the 19th Hadith in the first level of
the prophetic Traditions We Begin by
praising in the almighty Allah and
sending the greatest peace and
salutations upon his most beloved
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam today's Hadith which is Hadith
number 19 is narrated
by may Allah be pleased with him or
Abu
so narrated that the messenger of Allah
peace be upon Him exalted us and our
hearts trem LED and tears flowed from
our eyes so he said oh messenger of
Allah it is as if this is an advice of
one who is b in a farewell so instruct
us guide us further so the messenger of
Allah peace be upon him saying I
instruct you to fear
Allah and to hear and obey even if the
one who is appointed as your leader is a
slave those among you who live a long
life will see great differences so I
urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and to
the way of the rightly guided right
thinking cives adhere firmly to it and
be aware of newly invented matters for
every newly invented matter is an
innovation and every Innovation is
misguidance this Hadith is collected by
Abu D and in the Sunan and it is
classified as
Hass the great
companion may Allah be pleased with him
Abu is one of the very great Companions
of prophet Muhammad s wasallam and one
of Assa people Assa means the area which
was designated towards the rear of the
Masid for the poor companions who didn't
have homes and they stayed in in the
Masid and they have learned from the
messenger of Allah a great deal because
they attended all the prayers and all
the classes and the and the sahab used
to support them financially bring them
food in the Masid and so
on may Allah be pleased with him besides
being one
of he was also one of the great
companions who were known as
Al because in chapter number nine verse
number 92 Surah the almighty Allah said
there is no blame upon those whom they
have come to you so that you can take
them with you to the Battle of tabuk
there is no blame upon them because they
didn't have the means so you said also I
don't have rights for you so you return
them and they return while their eyes
overflow with
tears
so they were crying because they
couldn't afford the means and the rights
so that they could join the prophet Sall
alhi wasallam to the Battle of tabuk so
he was one of those whom Allah the
almighty revealed verse number 92 in his
regard uh he died on the year 75 after
he have moved to hum may Allah be
pleased with him 75 after the migration
of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam when he said
that the messenger of Allah exalted us
yeah he gave us a valuable reminder to
soften and to Tender our hearts trembled
yeah our hearts were full of fear
because of the the advice and because of
reminding us of Allah the Hereafter
reconing and hellfire and its punishment
and so on so the almighty Allah in the
Quran says also
inah chapter number8 the second verse
what it means those when Allah is
mentioned their hearts become
fearful so he admire them because they
fear the almighty Allah and also the
companions said according to the
narration
of it is as if this exhortation and this
reminder sounds like you are biding A
Farewell uh because he's given them a
very comprehensive
advice the speeches of the Prophet Sall
wasallam were being characterized of um
concise and comprehensive meanwhile he
said I have been given five qu it is no
Prophet before me was given and he also
said that I've been
given so in few words in concise very
concise uh statement he will provide
very comprehensive meaning so here the
prophet sallahu alaihi wasallam further
instructed them when they said instruct
us it sounds like you're bidding us a
farewell what can we do after you he
said I instruct you to fear
Allah the almighty and this instruction
is in the Quran inah chapter number four
verse number
131 indeed we have instructed the people
of the book before you and we instructed
you as well to fear Allah which is known
as tawa or piety which is an essential
component of our belief one who
possesses tawa will be eligible for
forgiveness and will be eligible for
salvation and entering Jenna on the day
of judgment following to that he said
and to hear and obey a combination of
two things to hear and to listen to the
commands of and to obey whom those who
are in Authority the rulers the leaders
when they ask you to do what is right
and what is Affordable but obviously if
they ask you to do anything
which is forbidden do not listen to
anyone who is ordering you to do
anything which is forbidden or disliked
even if the one who is appointed as your
leader is a slave so it doesn't matter
whether the leader the Amir is from our
tribe whether he is white whether he is
black whether he is whatever what
matters is he ended up being Chosen and
appointed as
the leader and the one in Authority then
those who are under his guardianship
they should listen to his commands
lawful commands and
follow and Obey them I urge
you he said peace be upon him to adhere
to my
Sunnah you wanted further instruction
stick to my traditions the actions the
sayings The Silence of prophet Muhammad
and approvals in order to be rightly
guided and maybe haven't heard from me
things but the rightly guided khbs
referring to Abu bak and Ali have heard
have seen have experienced so follow
their guidance as well whoever will
follow my guidance and the guidance of
the four rightly guided KBS will be
rightly guided and he also called them
right
thinking because the fact that they were
right rightly guided implies that they
were right thinking as well adhere
firmly to it to what to my Sunnah and
the traditions of the rightly guided KHS
and then he added and beware of
Innovations innovated matters so uh
avoid them what is meant by matters of
Innovations in the religion as we
discussed in the previous Hadith adding
anything to the religion which is not
prescribed by Prophet Muhammad s
wasallam whether in the nature or the
reason or the amount or the number or
the type or the place uh and so on and
the time so stick to the Sunnah of
prophet Muhammad the guidance of the
rightly guided and right thinking
rightly guided colleages Abu Bakr Omar
and Ali and then he added for every
newly invented matter it is known as
Innovation or in Arabic because it was
innovated and invented without
precedence and every Innovation is
definitely
misguidance the most important advice to
people is to be
God-fearing is to be
God-fearing I instruct you to fear Allah
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam instructed us to hear and obey
those in Authority hearing and obeying
them with regards to issues having to do
with their uh position as rulers as
people in authority and to fulfill the
responsibilities for the people's
welfare this is a must it is not a
matter of option accordingly it is not
permissible to revolt or to rebel
against them it is obligatory to adhere
strictly to the guidance of the prophet
sallallahu Ali wasallam and his rightly
guided khbs there is one narration in
which the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam
said um whoever sets a good president
Sunnah
Hass not only that he will be rewarded
for it but everyone who will act upon it
and follow his guidance in this
regard will be rewarded and the first
one who set up the good president will
be rewarded as well for everyone who
follows him and his guidance and this is
a sound Hadith to answer this question
and to bring the two narrations into
harmony that it is not permissible to
invent and meanwhile he says who
introduces a good tradition he will be
rewarded for it as well as he will earn
a similar word of everyone who will
follow his guidance it simply means
whoever sits a good precedent in Islam
initiating something for which there is
appr proof from The Sound
Sunnah for instance when the messenger
of Allah peace be upon him was asking
his companions to come forward with
donations so one of whom ran and he came
to the prophet s wasallam with
mallah a lot of donations wbed in in
cloth and he put it before him it was
very heavy so the messenger of Allah
peace be upon him said indeed whoever
sets a good president in Islam will have
the word for it and the word of every
one who does similar to it until the day
of
Resurrection he didn't ask them to do
something unprecedented no the goal is
there given in charity but who took the
initiative first and he and he was like
a role model for others so the Hadith
applies to this person as it was
mentioned in this context and every
person who take the initiative in doing
something good so that people will
follow him also it refers to being the
the first one to do an unprecedented
action for the purpose of achieving a
goal which is already
prescribed when he requested Abu bakik
to compile the Quran in one mus Abu Bakr
was worried that it will be perceived as
an innovation but the Quran was already
compiled entirely from F
to4 chapters all the verses but in
different scriptures here and there with
alali with abdah with mu sufyan with Abu
Bak sik witha with ha so all of that was
compiled in one single volume instead of
having it scattered in addition to it
was memorized by hundreds of the
companions so that is not perceived as
an innovation also it refers to Reviving
a Sunnah which is
forgotten when you come to people and
you inform them that there is and at
that time people didn't know what D is
so they started praying D after they did
know what du is will you be rewarded of
course everyone will act upon your
guidance which is in line and with the
spirit of the guidance of the Prophet
Sall Ali wasallam you will be rewarded
for each and everyone who will follow
your guidance as well so basically we
are warned against Innovations and new
newly innovated
matters uh introducing any act of
worship or adding to any prescribed act
of worship something that was not
prescribed at the time of the Prophet
sallallah alaihi wasallam may Allah
guide us to what his best and make us
follow and do not innovate until next
time
