alhamdulillah
and welcome to this second term of your
zad Academy
program in our
program we finished in the first term
things dealing with Tara with the way to
perform Evolution R the whole nine yards
and now we move on from the actual F
prayer that we have accomplished and
completed into the voluntary
prayer to
volunteer is to do something out of your
go own Good
Will and this is like Allah mentioned in
the Quran but whoever volunteers to give
more it is better for them
and this is referring to uh charity
referring to fasting referring to any
good deed that was not prescribed by
Allah
Asel and obligated by Allah subhana wa
taala so basically it is upon oneself to
do an act of worship but technically
when we come to the definition
of or voluntary prayer it is is to offer
prayers that are not
mandated it can be described as Sunnah
or recommended must or um any of these
terminologies now what are the virtues
of praying voluntary
prayer one of the
greatest
virtues is to follow the Sunnah of the
prophet am because the prophet
sallallahu alaih
wasallam kept doing it most of his
life and the Hadith Al where
Allah says clearly in it
that I
have
declared that whoever shows enmity to a
close friend of mine
Allah is against him I am against him
and my slave does not draw closer and
nearer to me with anything more beloved
to me than the religious duties that I
have enjoyed upon him and my slave and
this is a
punchline and my slave continues to draw
near to me with
NE which is vol
acts of
worship until I love him so you draw
closer and nearer to Allah asael the
more you do these voluntary Deeds so you
draw closer to Allah
Asel
more the more you do voluntary Deeds now
when you want
to look
at voluntary deeds and mandatory
the how to differentiate between them
and why to differentiate between them in
the authentic Hadith a nomad came to the
prophet Alat and said to him what did
Allah prescribe upon me so the prophet
said Alam five daily
prayers the man said anything else the
prophet said no unless you do voluntary
Deeds or voluntary prayers and this is
what segregates the five daily prayers
from all other prayers to be voluntary
in
general
again is there any distinction and
difference in principle between how we
offer F prayers and voluntary prayers
well in voluntary
prayers we can have a concession in the
sense that in F prayer standing up is a
pillar it's one of the pillars as we
mentioned last
term that standing up in F prayer is a
pillar in voluntary
prayers it is permissible for you to
pray standing up or sitting down though
standing is better than sitting down now
having said
that are we rewarded the same the answer
is no the prophet
saidat that whoever prays standing up
this is best but whoever prays sitting
down then he has half the reward of that
praying standing
up and and if he were to pray lying on
his side then he has half the reward of
that praying sitting down and this was
reported by
bukari okay if I want to pray voluntary
prayers sitting down how should I do
this it is best to pray cross-legged
meaning that you sit down and you make
um uh um the way you sit not as usual in
prayer where you sit on your left foot
Ting the right foot which is no mother
says that I saw the prophet Alat praying
sitting cross-legged and this is the
Sunnah for those who would like to pray
sitting down nevertheless if you sit in
any form that would also be accepted as
in the case of someone sitting on a
chair for
example one may ask what's the wisdom
behind the prescription of voluntary
prayers there are
several wisdoms there are sever several
reasons number one to raise the believer
in
status and to increase his Good Deeds as
per the Hadith
that
whoever um does this would get closer to
Allah the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam was asked byan may Allah be
pleased with him what is the most
beloved Deeds to
Allah so the prophet said to him you
have to offer a lot of
sujud and this
offering a lot of
suud has a great
reward the prophet said Alam you should
prostrate a great deal for you will not
do one prostration but Allah will raise
you in status one degree thereby and
erase one bad Deed from your records
thereby is this
prostration something that comes out of
the blue meaning I'm just sitting and
then all of a sudden I go and prostrate
the answer is no the scholars say that
to do an offer great deal of sujud is
referring to the bigger picture which is
prayer because we do not usually offer
sujud except through or during prayers
so when you offer a lot of prayers that
would include sujud and this Hadith is
referring to sujud as
well offering a lot of voluntary prayers
is one of the greatest means of
attaining admittance to Paradise you
want to be admitted to Jenna then you
have
to do a lot of voluntary
prayers may Allah be pleased with him he
says I used to serve the prophet Alam
and stay over to help him with his woodo
and with whatever errands he needs one
day he said to me ask
me take a wish so I said I ask you to
let me be with you in Paradise so the
prophet sallallah alaih wasallam said is
there anything else I said that is all
then the prophet said Alam said to me
then help me so that you may attain that
by prostrating a great deal again this
is referring to offering voluntary
prayers as much as possible the third
benefit of voluntary
prayers is that it completes what is or
what was lacking of obligatory prayers
when we pray obligatory and F prayers a
lot of the times we get
distracted our minds wander in so many
things
so
Allah prescribed to us a remedy that we
would
complete our F prayers
with the prophet
said the first thing for which the
Muslim will be brought to count on the
day of judgment will be prayer if he
completed it all well and good otherwise
it will be said look and see whether he
has any voluntary prayers to his credit
if he has voluntary prayers to his
credit the obligatory prayers will be
completed with his voluntary prayers
then the same will be done with regard
to all other obligatory actions so what
we understand from this is that Allah
asael has granted us a gift and allaha
has compensated our own weakness with
these voluntary acts of
worship voluntary prayers are divided
into two types one that is limited to a
specific spefic time or a specific
reason such
as and these
are that prayers that precede or follow
the four
prayers so this is prescribed it's a
fixed number at a fixed time or it can
also be something that is General such
as wit they don't follow the F prayer D
does not follow the F prayer but it is
limited to a specific time and with a
specific reward and with a specific
reason the second type of voluntary
prayers is the general voluntary
prayers and this can be
offered anytime such as night prayer so
from is
until the break of dawn you can pray two
by two 2 by two the sky is the limit you
can pray at daytime after Sunrise before
prayer as many Ras As You Wish providing
that this is done in times that there
are no
restrictions and this is something that
we have to pay attention
to and
Allah knows best this is all the time we
have for
this class or lesson and inshallah we
will continue in the following
