and welcome back my dear students to the
second Hadith in the second level of the
prophetic guidance of the Noel Hadith
let's begin by praising the almighty
Allah and sending the greatest peace and
salutations upon his most beloved
Prophet Muhammad sallallah alhi wasallam
and before we discuss today's Hadith I
would like to bring to your attention
that this Hadith is of a great
importance it's like a
Cornerstone in the guidance of how to
observe IAT properly and modly without
going to extreme in order to secure
their word and to maintain steadfastness
on the straight path without any further
Ado here is a Hadith which is narrated
by the great companion an Malik may
Allah be pleased with him and it is
agreed upon its authenticity which is
which means it's collected by IM bukari
and IM Muslim and and
others the Hadith was narrated by Malik
who
said three men came to the houses of the
Prophet sallallah Ali wasallam to the
the chambers of the Prophet Sall alam's
wives to ask about the worship of the
Prophet peace be upon him when they were
told about it it was as if they thought
it was kind of
little so hence they said how can we
compare ourselves to the messenger of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam for he
has been forgiven his past and future
sins
one of whom said upon that as for me I
shall pray night prayer on every single
night for the entire
night and the other person the second
said and I shall fast on every single
day for life I will never skip fasting
and the third person said I shall keep
away from women I will never get married
so that I devote my life for the worship
of the almighty Allah the messenger of
Allah peace be upon Him came to know
about what they said so he suon them and
he said are you the ones who said such
and such indeed by Allah I am the one
among you who fears Allah most and I'm
the most mindful of Allah among you but
I fast and I SK fasting I pray and I
sleep and and I am married and whoever
turns away from my traditions then he's
not from me doesn't belong to me we say
the narrator of the Hadith is the great
companion whose mother is the great
female
companion andik have served the prophet
Sall Ali wasallam for 10 years until the
prophet s wasallam passed away from the
day he walked into Medina until he
passed away then he traveled to Damascus
in
Asam and then he moved afterward to
Basra in Iraq where he died in Basra may
Allah be pleased with him he was simply
the last of the companions of the
Prophet sallallah Al wasallam to die in
Basra uh on the year
93 after the migration of the Prophet s
wasallam and that was simply because the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
prayed for him Baraka
to earn Baraka blessing in his lifespan
and in his provision so his buan his
garden used to produce twice in the
season not once and he had so many
children and grandchildren from his
offspring he have seen over a hundred
mashallah in his life and he was as I
said the last of the companion so die in
Basra on the year 93 after
[Music]
after the migration
ofam um a few things I would like to
shed some light on before I delve into
the detail explanation of the
Hadith fact number one those companions
who
visited the wives of the Prophet Sall
alam's houses and inquired about
his and how he worships in private
because he have seen him in the Masid
and in public and he wanted to know if
he does something extra at home so that
they would imitate him and copy him so
fact number one those companions those
three
companions were sincere in their
intention of inquiring about the
prophet's in order to imitate him to do
like him in the beginning
and when they inquired and they came to
know about the moderate way of worship
of the Prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam
they said
well and who is like the prophet Allah
has forgiven him his earlier and his
pass and his sins to come it doesn't
mean that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam was a
sinner Allah the almighty in
said so the prophet sallallah Al
wasallam is Forgiven even if he were to
commit sins here I would like to inform
you that the vast majority of the Muslim
Scholars are of the view that all the
prophets peace be upon Him May commit
minor sins but Allah doesn't allow them
to persist or to continuously commit
those sins and they never delayed
repentance from them but as for the
major sins they're absolute Ely
protected and infallible as Pro as for
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alhi
wasallam he was completely infallible
or
so Islam may Allah have mercy on him
said the word forever here means always
without
ceasing every day of my life he will be
fasting and the person the other person
every night he will be praying
from no sleep and the third person will
never marry at all so we have concluded
that their intention was very sincere
and it was very obvious and when they
came to learn about the moderate way of
the worship of the Prophet sallallah
alaihi wasallam they decided to compete
with him they said but he's a prophet
and who are we we are sinners so we have
to do extra acts of worship ship to do
more than the messenger of Allah in
order to earn the same place like him in
heaven to be with him in Jenna and
that's why they came up with the idea of
um doing what they thought is perfectly
fine when somebody says uh praying at
night is praiseworthy is definitely
praiseworthy it is admired in the Quran
and those who pray at night
Allah admired them in and where
else so they say the first person said
I'm going to pray for the entire night
the act itself is prescribed as
voluntary act of worship as for fasting
uh voluntary fasting the messenger of
Allah peace be upon him said each day
you
fast it will take you away from Hellfire
the TR distance of 70 years so it is
prescribed okay and that's why the
second person decided to fast Forever on
every single day without skipping a
single day and the third that was not to
marry because he doesn't want a woman or
a wife to distract his attention from
worship he doesn't want to have children
who would have demands and you know he
wants to devote his entire life for the
worship of the almighty Allah
but the prophet sallallah alaihi
wasallam didn't approve any of that why
because the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam is the leader of the umah
sometimes he used to skip some voluntary
acts of worship and he would not do it
on regular basis and that's why they
have been categorized as non-emphatic
Sunnah so that his companions would not
perceive them as compulsory such as a
DHA prayer
in the night prayer during Ramadan so
that the Companions and those who come
after them would not assume it's
compulsory even though he loves to offer
du he loves to pray tud every night and
used to stand until his feet would swell
but what he does for himself is
different than what he demands from the
entire um to do in the previous Hadith
we learned that Allah the almighty said
my servant will not do anything to come
close to me better than than fulfilling
what I have ordained upon him here we
find
inah the almighty Allah is describing
the moderate way of the Believers in
observing acts of worship when he
said and they are those whom when they
spend they do not
excessively or sparingly but are ever
between that
this is with regards to the even given
in a charity they are moderate you know
they are very moderate moderate in in
moderate in giv in a charity moderate in
fasting moderate in in their why because
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
when he was asked and the Hadith is
narrated
by and it's agreed upon its
authenticity what is most beloved de to
Allah he said the one which is
continuous constant even if it is
little
so when you do something on a regular
basis even if it is little it's better
than doing something too extreme then
you quit all of a sudden the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam didn't
criticize their intention the prophet
Sall Al wasallam size going to extreme
because obviously no human being can
afford to fast on every single day no
human being with the desire of having a
wife and children can afford to do that
he will be hurt in himself no human
being can afford to stay up on every
single night praying from till without
taking a break obviously will come after
F and pray and and and sleep this is a
human nature here also we find that the
prophet sallallah Ali wasallam
introduced his guidance to them by
saying
indeed I'm the most uh God-fearing of
all of you and the most mindful of Allah
of all of you he is the dearest to Allah
he's the most righteous yet he observes
the acts of worship moderately then he
announced and declared if anyone still
afterward like to go his way and to go
extreme even in Acts of
worship then he's not following my way
he doesn't belong to
me whoever doesn't follow my tradition
then he doesn't belong to me the best
way is to adopt a moderate approach and
not to go extreme in
pursuing um anything whether in the dun
or pertaining to the acts uh of worship
falling short in matters of religious
commitment and worship and do not and
and and not doing them in accordance
with the Sunnah of
wasallam is definitely blame worthy as
is doing more than what is
required wasallam said in theith whoever
introduces into this matter of of ours y
this religion our religion in Islam an
act of worship which doesn't belong to
it it will be rejected Allah will not
admire a person who innovates in the
dean of Allah because he doing something
new something extra taking it hard upon
himself rather he will be rejected and
finally brothers and sisters here I like
to share with you that the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam have warned
us when he said in the sound Hadith
which is collected by Imam Ahmed beware
of going to extreme in religion for
those who came before you were only
doomed because of going to extreme in
the religion in another narration the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam has
said in the S Hadith which is narrated
by abdah may Allah be pleased with him
and the Hadith is collected by IM Muslim
he
said those who go to extreme in religion
are doomed will perished may Allah
subhana wa tala guide us what is best
imagine the prophet had to repeat that
three times may Allah keep us moderate
in every saying in Every Act including
the acts of worship and may Allah keep
us all steadfast on his straight path
till next time as
