Al my dear students welcome to the fifth
in the second level of the prophetic
Noble collection of a Hadith today's
Hadith is a sound Hadith collected by IM
Muslim and it is narrated by the great
companion may Allah be pleased with him
and his
father said a man once asked the
messenger of Allah peace be upon him and
said do you think if I pray the
obligatory prayers fast Ramadan regard
as permissible what is permitted and
regard as prohibited what is forbidden
and I do not do anything more than that
will I be admitted to heaven will I
enter Paradise he said yes he said by
Allah I shall not do anything more than
that as I said this Hadith is collected
by Imam Muslim so it's a sound Hadith
and there are couple different
narrations which I'll be more than happy
to share with you their meaning briefly
but after we explain generally some of
the phrases of the Hadith like like when
this badwi say to the messenger of Allah
do you think do you think here uh
basically means that tell me inform me
every time a question that begins with
the phrase do you think it is most
likely that it means tell me inform me
he's asking whether this is correct or
not so when the man said if I just pray
the five obligatory prayers that means
he made it CST clear that I'm not going
to be praying na neither emphatic nor
nonemphatic before or after the prayers
night
prayer I will just pray the five daily
prayers and I would just fast during uh
Ramadan and when he said and this is a
very important phrase when he
said when I regard as permissible what
is permitted by the almighty and I
regard what is prohibited as
forbidden this is a very important
statement because a lot of
people they might forbid for
themselves that which Allah the almighty
has made it
lawful out of
asceticism out of going to extreme out
of thinking that they will bring them
closer to the almighty Allah we
explained in previous Hadith how the
messenger of Allah peace be upon him put
a stop to that and he severely warned
again is that and he said I'm the
messenger of Allah I'm the most
righteous of all of you and the most
God-fearing of all of you so if any of
you would do anything or vow to do
anything out of my guidance and does not
follow my tradition then he doesn't
belong to me like the person who said
I'm not going to get married at all or
the person who
uh obliged himself to fast on every
single day or to pray for the entire
every single night or some people who
avoid eating meat assuming that this is
a means of approach no you regard as
permissible what is permitted and you
regard what is forbidden
as Haram and forbidden what does it mean
it simply
means let me give you an example when
some
people don't drink
they don't eat pork they don't date they
don't gamble but they don't do that
because it's Haram rather because well
in my culture we don't eat
pork uh my parents said if you drink it
tastes awful so I don't drink because of
that I want to stay awake I don't want
to get intoxicated so he is abstaining
from what is
forbidden okay but not because it is
forbidden rather because he did
developed a taste to it because it is
cultural is he bearing a sin no he's not
bearing a sin but he's not earning a
word I'm not drinking even though when
I'm flying business class or first class
they offer the drink for free alcohol
for free I'm not going to drink you know
you could be drinking for 500 bucks for
free but I'm not drinking why because
it's Haram do you have carrot juice do
you have orange juice do you have soft
drinks I'm not drinking alcohol why
don't you drink because it is forbidden
so you'll be rewarded for avoiding what
is forbidden likewise with regards to
every prohibited act in this Hadith
brothers and
sisters peace be upon Him wanted to
explain that it is permissible for a
Muslim to do only what is
obligatory even if he doesn't do the
voluntary acts of worship the superator
sun before an after the prayers or
fasting on Mondays and Thursdays the
10th of muharam the 9th of Etc and also
if the person avoids committing the
Haram and perceives the Halal as Halal
that is sufficient to admit him to
jna but what is the difference between
this person and another person who will
take the whole package extra or word
Heaven is not a single floor obviously
when I prayed in I before and after the
prayers as the prophet sallu alai
wasallam said in the
sound whoever observes on regular basis
offering those 12 raas four before two
by two two after two after two after two
before those are known
as or the emphatic those who observe
them on regular basis Allah will build a
house for them in Paradise
guaranteed the almighty Allah said and
my servant will continue to draw nearer
and nearer to me through offering the
super ratory acts of worship and I love
him so there's an extra credit both in
this life and in the Hereafter but the
Hadith explains that when people are new
to
Islam you do not throw the whole book at
them and say I got to do this and this
and this and this and that make them get
bored before they even start so
basically when the person starts
practicing and offering the five daily
prayers gradually he will feel good
about it he will feel that he needs more
connection with the almighty when he
fast during Ramadan then he realizes
that extra day any day that you fast for
the sake of Allah it takes you away 70
years of traveling away from Hellfire
obviously every believer wants to
compete in doing so you've done your Haj
once but why do you want to go again I
love it it grants me an expiation for
all my sins it prevents poverty it it
makes me a newborn and that's why I want
to do it more and more even though it is
obligatory once in a lifetime this
Hadith brothers and sisters is actually
a very important Hadith especially in
the field of
Da
IM may Allah have mer on him said you
know if the people of one locality
agreed to abandon the Sunnah they should
be fought against until they resume
practicing the Sunnah and this is a
completely different story than what
were were discussing in the Hadith the
companions of the Prophet Sall wasallam
were very keen to observe every Sunnah
that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam used to do
and said that sometimes a messenger of
Allah will quit practicing and doing
certain acts of worship which are
classed as super rogatory or out of fear
that his companions will perceive it as
obligatory for instance in Ramadan he
prayed one night two night three nights
four night then when he realized that
the Masid is full of Companions and the
companions were outgrown the Masid he
stopped and he started praying home why
so that the companions would not
perceive rad in the Mas as part of
fasting and obligatory Act of for it's
simply Sunnah you want to do it at home
you want to do it in the Masid you want
to do it by yourself or in congregation
all of that is permissible so let's
learn uh a few facts from this Hadith uh
number one how the companion were very
keen to learn basically one of the most
frequently asked questions when people
would come to the prophet asking him
tell me what will take me straight to
heaven and what will take me away from
Hellfire and the prophet sallallah Ali
wasallam will deliver the answer in
accordance with the need of the audience
or the questioner also if a person
limited himself to just offering the
obligatory acts of worship is it
sufficient it is sufficient would that
be um uh sufficient enough to take him
to Jenna yes because the rest is
voluntary but he will miss this h word
of the voluntary acts of worship which
normally
expedites the proc process of admitting
him or her to Jenna because when we
offer the obligatory acts of worship
they're full of shortcomings drawbacks
deficiencies so will complement any
deficiency and drawback that happened in
the obligatory act of
worship uh prayers and fasting
particularly are among the great means
of admitting to J becausei wasallam said
whoever fast during Ramadan out of faith
and anticipating the RO from Allah the
almighty shall enter
Heaven all his previous sins will be
forgiven um a person should not refrain
from availing himself of what is
permissible if it is permissible you
want to do it you want to consume it
fine you don't want to do not perceive
it as forbidden do not propagate the
idea that you know I'm vegetarian and I
think that eating meat should be
forbidden because you're not God you
know you don't want to eat this don't
eat it you don't want to drink that
don't drink it but do not discredit it
okay you just still perceive it as
lawful uh IM may Allah uh have mercy on
him said what is meant by and regard as
prohibited what is prohibited is avoided
it to avoid it with the intention that
I'm avoiding it because it is Haram in
order to earn the promised reward as I
discussed earlier may Allah subhanahu wa
taala guide all of us to what his
best until next time
