and welcome back to the ninth Hadith in
the second level of the prophetic
traditions and Noble statements of
prophet Muhammad sallallah alaihi
wasallam We Begin by praising the
almighty Allah alone and sending the
Gest peace and salutations upon his
final messenger sallallahu alaihi
wasallam in Hadith number nine my dear
students the narrator
is we say because he and his father both
were
Companions and if I say he's a son of
abdah of Omar that means he was prophet
Muhammad 's brother inlaw
because was married to the prophet sallu
alhi wasallam so it was narrated
thatd the messenger of Allah peace be
upon Him took hold of my shoulder and
said be in this world as if you are a
stranger or a wayf farer ler on
abdah may Allah be pleased with him and
his father used to say when evening
comes do not wait for the morning and
when morning comes do not wait for the
evening and take from your good health
for your sickness and take for your life
for your death this Hadith is a sound
Hadith and it is collected by IM bukari
may Allah have mercy on him so the
Hadith has two segments one segment
which
is which
means narrated what the prophet Sall Ali
wasallam did and said to him and the
next segment is
where is commenting on the Hadith as how
he benefited out of the statement of the
prophet wasallam and he sharing with us
his personal advice so the next part of
the Hadith was not something that the
prophet sallallahu alhi wasallam has
saying rather it is the advice ofd
based on his understanding from the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam when
he said when evening comes do not wait
for the morning when morning comes do
not wait for the evening and take for
your health towards your sickness and
take for your life um towards your death
and so
on is such a great companion of the
messenger of Allah peace be upon him he
attended the Battle of alh and the
following battles but bad and he didn't
attend why because he was too young the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
disapproved him attending any battle he
was simply a teenager but he attended
the battle of alh the trench and the
subsequent uh uh battles and
Expeditions
ABD was actually a mu even after the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
passed away he used to give fatwa for 6
years such a qualified
companion he lost his eyesight towards
the end of his life and he was the last
one of the companions of the Prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam to die in
Mecca on the year 73 after the migration
of the Prophet Sall wasallam
abdah resembled the prophet Sall
wasallam so much that he used to imitate
him in every action in the way he walked
in the way he talked uh and so on after
the death of prophet Muhammad s wasallam
when people used to see abdah coming
from distance they would confuse him
with the prophet because he walked the
same way that the messenger of Allah
peace be upon Him used to walk and when
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
interpreted one of his
dreams which he shared with his sister

said he's such a excellent servant of
Allah if he just were to offer night
prayer so he was regular in offering tud
and night prayer
afterward wasallam taking hold of the
shoulder of
ABD he used to do that with many of his
companions
abdah showed him care and AFF fiction
and he was not just a teacher he was
like a an a bigger brother he was was
like a a bigger friend so he instructed
his companions whether individually or
in groups that's why they benefited so
much from his guidance sallallahu alaihi
wasallam and the messenger of Allah
peace be upon him was given what he
described
as Allah the almighty favored him with
giving him the most comprehensive of
speech so instead of giving a long
speech he would just say a few words
then it will be EXC explained in a
speech or a or even In A Book
Like instead of giving him a long
lecture as he how he should live this
life and be in this life he used a
beautiful two Parables be in this dun in
the life of this world as if you're a
stranger or even a way faer and we'll
explain both shortly
inshallah uh being being a
stranger in this
world
means that you don't know much about it
you don't know much about people you
don't care about their positions you
don't have Envy towards them you don't
have hatred resentment or enmity you
don't have hypocrisy or disputes because
like you you know you don't belong here
so where do I belong I belong to the
Hereafter I look at this life as a feeli
that I'm
cultivating not plants not fruits and
vegetations rather cultivating Good
Deeds to benefit me in the Hereafter and
that's why I'm very protective I should
be very protective of my good deeds I
don't want the reward of my good deeds
to be ruined through backbiting
slandering hatred enmity envy and so on
no have a clean heart let people come
compete pertaining the world of this
life its pleasure its gain its money and
your main focus should be on the next on
the Hereafter that is simply the meaning
of being a stranger in this world you
belong to the people of Jenna you're
here for a short period of time you're
working hard in order to reach your
final destination Heaven safely then he
said or even a
wer and a way farer is somebody who's
passing by I know that I'm in this
airport for 3 hours if I know I'm going
to be at the airport for 3 hours then
basically I'm
leaving how much do I care about the
construction of the airport the design
the interior designing the carpet the
steel the glasses I don't care I don't
belong to this airport this is not my
home I'm just passing by I'm not here to
inspect it I know that I am waiting for
my next flight so being a way faer would
make you uh showing less interest in
remaining in this station in this Fran
life okay and rather prepare for the
departure at any time and that's

whyd interpreted that through his
personal advices when he says you know
so when the evening come do not expect
to live till the morning and when the
morning comes do not expect to live uh
the next
station what does it mean it simply
means he benefited from the advice of
the prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam
and he is saying life is not worth
fighting for it is not worth showing
enmity hatred Envy is not worth eating
from Haram is not worth falling into
mejor sins is not worth killing one
another for it because anyway it's like
water in your palm soon it will fall can
you have a grape on water no you
can't you keep filling your pal with
water and it will fall from between your
fingers life is like that is like
a since Allah the almighty stated
in so we have learned that I don't know
when where and how will I die but I know
for certain that I will die I know for
certain that I'm leaving this life and
death has nothing to do with age health
wealth position or strength death takes
away why strong people wrestlers
athletes while in the final match in the
final tournament while on the playground
20 years old 24 years old how come is
physically fit look at him he drops dead
why it's
time uh death takes away rich people
presidents rulers men women as well as
children not only sick people but also
healthy people so an oncologist is
telling his patient that you're going to
live only for a couple weeks and the
oncologist dies next day and the cancer
patient may survive for another couple
years Subhan Allah so these are all
instructions from
Abdullah not to delay serious matters
for the moral because you never know
whether you will live until you attain
it or not serious matters like what
repentance do not post
repentance do not postpone an act of
obedience which you commanded to do and
say tomorrow I will do it how do you
know that you will live until tomorrow
or in the evening I will do
it whenever it is the evening do not
expect to live till the morning and
whenever it is already the morning do
not
expect to live until the evening does it
mean to be passive does it mean to be a
loser does it mean not to work no work
earn acquire degrees get married raise
your children but simply the meaning is
to be always on stand by you are way
fairer and death is not going to seek
permission from you to take away your
soul so we learn from uh this Hadith
some very important lessons such as
number one we should have little
interest in this world and not regard it
as a permanent AB because it is not and
wasallam said be in this world as if you
are a stranger or a wayer this is what
we understand from his prophetic
guidance Sall alhi wasallam
also taught us will by giv convincing
likenesses so if it is hard for you to
imagine the nature of this life think
about yourself at the airport for a
Transit this is life The Parables that
the prophet Sall alhi wasallam and the
likenesses the prophet sallam is given
us in order to comprehend the reality be
in this world as if you are a stranger
or a way a way farer uh another lesson
that we learn do not hope in the morning
that you will make it till the evening
and do not hope in the evening that you
will go to sleep and you will get up in
the morning and you will achieve all
your plans we make plans but only Allah
knows whether we will survive to execute
them or not which
means what comes first should be done
first priorities IAT five daily prayers
repentance on regular basis do not
particularly delay repentance say
inshallah when Ramadan comes I will
repent I'm just waiting for Hajj then I
will quit smoking or I'm just waiting
until it is uh you know the first days
of
or so I can repent no no no no no no no
guarantee whatsoever that you will make
it to next Ramadan or for or to so take
advantage of your being still alive take
advantage of being healthy fast as much
as you can pray not only the but also
the as much as you can do not postpone
anything that you should do as far as an
act of worship or repentance from a sin
or an act of Disobedience you should
execute it as soon as possible that is
the meaning of whenever it is the
morning do not expect to make it to the
evening and whenever it is the evening
do not expect that you will survive to
make it in the morning and
finally each person should take from his
good health for his sickness because
when he is in a good health it's easy
for him to fast ask to stand up in
prayers to walk and give in a charity
but when the person is impaired
physically uh uh unfit uh with chronic
ailment he doesn't have access to do
many things that he used to do in the
past so whenever he was healthy if he
got sick and he cannot fast anymore
Allah will still record for him the same
reward of his fasting which he used to
do when he was healthy or the night
prayer what he used to do when he was
able to stand up in prayer the almighty
Allah is the most generous and the
Hadith is a very powerful reminder that
we should be always ready and only
standby to this the to live the stran
life and to join the permanent life and
we better prepare for it may Allah guide
us with his best until next
