alhamdulillah Friday prayer is different
than prayer as we said
before unfortunately a lot of the people
think that this is exactly prayer so
they tend to pray four of Sunnah before
Friday and two ra afterwards thinking
that this is the same format
as which is not
true the Juma has no
prescribed sunah before it
like and when we say prescribed meaning
that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam did not pray anything
before that is before J but he prayed
four R
before and having said that Friday
prayer though it does not have any
prescribed prayer before it yet one can
pray as many rakas as he
wishes before the Friday so he could
pray two he could pray four he could
pray 10 he could pray 20 and no matter
how many he prays this is not prescribed
it's an open General time of prayer
which is recommended because the prophet
Salli wasallam
had recommended it but did not prescribe
it or a particular number for it now
praying afterwards is a different story
because the prophet Alat wasam used to
pray after uh a Friday
prayer four rakas in another narration
two rakas so which one would should we
do even T said to combine between the
Hadith supporting this we understand
that if the prayer of sun after
Friday was to be done in the Masjid the
Sunnah is to pray
for but if you concluded your Friday
prayer and did not pray anything in the
Masjid and went home then only pray two
raas because this is what the prophet
used to do s alai
the format of Friday prayer as stated
before is that you pray two
raas and you pray them
loudly because this is what the prophet
had done and this and this is the
consensus of Scholars also it is Sunnah
to recite in the first ra after the fat
with
Alf uh Al that is and in the
second or as many of the masjids do part
of the Sunnah as well to recite byah in
the first
and in the second r as
well
now we know that congregational prayer
if you attain one ra you've attained the
full congregation the
reward but if you you missed the last ra
you've missed a congregation likewise
with J if you offered two Ras you've
attained J if you missed one R but
attained the second Rak with the IM
you've attained the J if you missed the
second ra so if you came late and the
Imam was in the r position of the second
and he
said and then you joined him
you have missed the Friday prayer which
means when the Imam offers Salam you
stand up and you pray
four of not two of because you've missed
the chance to pray jum with the IM what
are the sun of praying the jum there are
sun before after during so what are
these Sun that we should pay attention
to number one one of the most beautiful
and important Sunnah of J is to go as
early as possible to the
prayer because the prophet said whoever
does for the J on Friday then goes to
the Masjid in the first
hour and it is as if he offered a
camel if he goes in the second hour it
is as if he had offered a cow third hour
as if he offered a ram fourth hour as if
he offered a chicken fifth hour as if he
had offered an egg then when the Imam
comes out the Angels come to listen to
uh
the and they would uh to the th that is
to the remembrance of Allah and they
would fold their books and whoever comes
afterwards they would not record that
for
him part of the
Sunan of Friday is to take before you go
to it some Scholars make this mandatory
but the most authentic opinion is that
it is
highly recommended and not not mandatory
the evidence doing hul on Friday is
obligatory for every adult and using the
sewak and wearing
perfume so those who say it's
obligatory they don't say and the seak
and the perfume is obligatory as well
which is uh an indication that it is
recommended but not mandatory
the third Sunnah is as per the Hadith to
wear your perfume and to clean yourself
and this would attain you Allah's
forgiveness for your
sins number four is to wear new clothes
clean clothes the prophet said there is
nothing wrong with any of you with any
one of you buying two garments for
Friday other than his daily work clothes
so this is a highly recommended Sunnah
to have a suit to have special clothes
only for and
for um attending the prayer for J as
well among the Sunnah during that
daytime of Friday is to offer the
salutation upon the
Prophet The Prophet recommended this by
saying send a lot of blessings upon me
on that
day and this would be displayed to the
prophet Alam and Allah would offer
salutation upon you as well number six
it is highly recommended to recite Surah
Al the prophet says whoever recites
Surah on Friday light will be or light
will shine brightly for for him from one
Friday to the
next part of the Sunnah as well on a
Friday the best prayer of the week is
the fer on the day of Friday and the
Sunnah of the Prophet that he used to
pray every
Friday in
F
andan and he used to continue to do this
throughout his life
s and it is wrong what some Muslims do
when the
imams
chooses verses that have S in them to
offer during this fer so he neglects the
Sunnah that's fine but he insists on
bringing his own Sunnah by
introducing verses of s
and thinking that the S is designated
for f prayer which is not true what is
designated is to
recite andan fully in
this prayer of f otherwise pray anything
else but don't choose other suras with
prostration of recitation in it to offer
it every Friday fer as if it is part of
the Sunnah number
eight during daytime of Friday the
prophet tells usam that there is a time
on Friday at which no muslim stands and
pray asking Allah for what is good but
he will grant it to
him so it is part of the Sunnah to make
a lot of Dua during Friday and the most
likely is that this time this period is
the last hour of the day of Friday just
before the sunset so if a person is
sitting in the Masjid after reading
Quran making Dua this period before
sunet just before thean it is highly
recommended for him to make a lot of
Dua now we have to point out that
fasting on the day of Juma as alone is
not
permissible it is
not permissible to
isolate Friday without any legitimate
reason and the sunah is that
one fasts a day
before that is Thursday or a day after
that is Saturday with the
Friday because the prophet said no one
of you should fast on a Friday unless he
also fasts a day before it or after it
and also in another Hadith the prophet
says
Alam uh and no or do not single out
Friday from among other days for
fearing or for fasting let me rephrase
that again no one should
isolate Friday with fasting from the
days of the week unless it is a fasting
someone is usually doing what does that
mean if I'm fasting
the fasting of
D so I fast one day and Skip one day I
alternate this means that this week
I will Fast Friday and the following
week I will skip it the following week I
will Fast it the following week I will
skip it this is permissible because I'm
not dedicating Friday to fast because
it's a
Friday but if someone says the whole
week I
work the only day I can fast is a Friday
so I would like to fast Friday because
it's my spare time we say no the prophet
once entered upon one of his wives on a
Friday and she said I'm fasting so he
asked her did you fast yesterday she
said no then he asked her will you fast
tomorrow she said no so the prophet
ordered her to break her fast
also we have to pay attention
that it is not from the Sunnah what a
lot of the Muslims do when they raise
their hands during the of jum sometimes
when the IM is giving and
said and they say and everybody's
raising their hands this is wrong and
this is not from the Sunnah and it's not
permissible because the prophet Alam had
never done this except when asking for
rain and the Muslims followed suit so
the companions once saw someone doing
this on the pulpit making Dua and
raising his hand the Imam and he said
how reprehensible this raising the hand
is I saw the prophet of allaham doing no
more than this with his hand and he
pointed with his forefinger so the
prophet whenever he made Dua on the
pulpit he was do
this only pointing with his finger not
raising his hands so this is not permiss
in permissible during the of the J when
the IM makes Dua he does not raise his
hands and Allah Knows Best
