Kind: captions Language: en [Music] AC [Music] alhamdulillah our prophet was the greatest human being ever to walk the earth and as humans he ate and drank and lived like humans eating is an essential part of being human and if a person has the right intention it can be transformed into a form of worship while still enjoying it and benefiting from it and there were a number of etiquettes that our Prophet Alat wasam dealt with when eating and we cannot have them all in this short period of time but we will try to study as much as possible and you will find in your textbooks inshallah what is related to that and that what you should in all benefit from first of all it is prohibited for Muslims to eat in gold or silver utensils as a Prohibition came from the prophet Alat wasam that whoever eats in such gold or silver utensils will only have this as fire in his intance in the day of judgment or on the day of judgment in Hellfire and this includes the plates the forks the uh cups and the likes and part of the eates which the prophet taught usat is when he saw a boy eating from a plate with the Muslims so they were all eating from the same plate as it is the Sunnah but the boy was eating from all over the place as children would do probably choose whatever they see most befitting for them so the prophet saidat oh boy say bismah eat with your right hand and eat from what's in front of you and not saying Bismillah is something that Shan tries his level best so that Muslims would be neglecting it or forgetting it the proph Propet saidat Satan makes the food that people did not mention the name of Allah upon make ital so he eats from it and due to our forgetfulness Allah has given us a way out so the prophet said if one of you forgets to sayah at the beginning of eating his food and then he remembers he should say in the name of Allah in the beginning and at the end so eating with your right left hand is prohibited because the prophet saidat do not use your left for eating for Shan eats with his left hand and this is definitely contrary to what a lot of the people do in restaurants when they hold the fork with the left and the knife with the right and they start to eat with their left hand the Sunnah is to eat with three fingers so to pick the food with three fingers and this is the modest and economical and healthiest way of eating because eating with five fingers is beasty like the beasts do like this and people who are Never full or never having enough but people who are moderate in their eating and they eat because they have to in order to live they would eat it moderately and in a very uh nice way but if someone is in need to use the other fourth and fifth finger while eating this is permissible and there is no problem in eating with your fork or with your spoon this is the OWN Sunnah way of eating but if you eat with a spoon that's totally fine part of the eates of the Prophet is that we eat from what's in front of us why the prophet said in an authentic the blessing the Baraka descends at the middle of the food so eat from the edges and do not eat from the middle this is what the prophet said Al IM Shafi from this Hadith prohibited eating from the middle and said you have to eat from the edges and specifically from what's in front of you and this is when it's a broth when it is rice and the likes so it's all the same almost you have to eat from the edges but when it's something to be picked like a bowl of fruit for example or dates or sweets there's no problem in picking from all over the place or even from uh uh uh the middle because this is different from rice or a broth or a a soups and the likes now the blessing of Allah that descends we all look for it so part of the eating etiquette so you can get this blessing is that we eat all together the prophet saidat eat all together and do not disperse do not eat alone because the blessing is with the congregation and this was said to the companions when they used to have the foods and go under the shade here or next to this rock and they eat individually and they suffered of hunger and the food wasn't sufficient so the prophet directed them to eat together and once they did this they found the Baraka with the grace of Allah part of the Baraka is also found when you eat with your hand I know a lot of the westerners would say that this is not part of the eating etiquette Etc we don't care what they say this is our religion and the prophet used to eat with his hands Al his and we follow suit and this is the Sunnah but it's not this Sunnah that we've abandoned alone after eating with your hand the Sunnah is to lick your fingers and not to wipe them with uh tissues or uh the likes because the prophet said you have to lick them you don't know where the Baraka is and we all know that the fried uh chicken they usually say it's Finger Licking Good so why is it for them okay and civilized and when we do it because the prophet did itam it is uncivilized it doesn't make any sense also a lot of the people think that part of the etiquettes of eating and part of the sunn is not to speak while eating and this is totally not right the companions used to speak while they're while they eat and the prophet used to teach his companions while uh eating so there's no problem in eating or giving Salam uh speaking while eating and giving Salam while eating as as well one of the etiquettes of the Prophet is not to blow on hot food or hot drinks usually because people eat with you and when you blow germs may fall into the food maybe something that people are disgusted by may fall into the food so this is not something uh uh correct part of the prophet's teachings is to be moderate when eating so the prophet told usam that a Believer eats in one stomach while a disbeliever eats in seven stomachs or intestines and this is to indicate that a Believer does not want to H the D and collect and eat without thinking rather he eats to survive while the disbeliever eats because he wants to gather everything he can before he dies and he wants to enjoy everything without any limitation which is bad for you the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said in an authentic Hadith the son of Adam would not fill a pot worse than his stomach it is sufficient for him to eat few morsels that would straighten up his posture if he must eat more than that then one3 for his food oneir for his drink and oneir for his breathing and also among the etiquettes of our Prophet Alat while eating that he sallallahu alaihi wasallam was a very polite and nice and easygoing person whenever he was offered food he would never criticize it if he likes it he eats it if he doesn't like it he leaves it and he does not yeah uh um go ahead and uh eat from it because criticizing the food that Allah has blessed you with and deprived other from shows a huge deal of ingratitude to Allah and the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam used to show his gratitude to Allah subhanahu wa taala there were of course certain foods that the prophet did not eat because he was not accustomed to so when he was offered uh a desert lizard once he refrained from eating it and we was asked is it haram he said no but it's not found in the land of my people and also the prophet used to refrain Al from eating food that contained garlic or onions because of the offensive smell and we know that the prophet used to speak with the Archangel giel uh so peace be upon him so the prophet did not want this to offend jbel peace be upon him when consuming the food you say bismah and when you conclude eating you also praise Allah asael where the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said Allah is pleased when his servant eats or drinks and he Praises him for eating and drinking and there are a number of Dua that we are instructed to say after finishing uh the the food such as and whoever says this after eating Allah would forgive his previous sins and this is mindblowing Allah feeds us Allah provide us with the water we drink and when we praise him for what he has given us he forgives our sins and the prophet used to also Alam offer Dua for those who hosted him by saying or sometimes he would say and the likes which you would find in your textbooks in [Music] for for [Music]
