Kind: captions Language: en [Music] AC [Music] alhamd there are reasons and excuses that permit people to break their fast because basically Allah says do not invalidate your own Deeds so if I started to fast I have to continue to fast till the end of the day but there are legitimate excuses to break your fast or not to fast from the very beginning the first reason is traveling and we've stated this before Allah Asel says in the Quran so whoever among you is ill or on a journey during them then an equal number of days are to be made up so this is a legitimate reason and in bukari and Muslim anas says may Allah be pleased with him we used to travel with the prophet Al and some of us would fast and some of some of us would skip so those who fasted would not look down upon those who skipped fasting and the same goes for those who did not fast did not look down upon those who were fasting and Scholars say that people who are fasting they can be into three categories or scenarios first if fasting and breaking your fast is the same so if a person says I'm traveling and my flight is about like 15 minutes or 30 minutes flight and whether I fast or not it's the same if I continue to fast there's no hardship at all and if I break my fast I'm not benefiting at all in this case fasting is better for you because you will be fasting Ramadan with the congregation which is with with the the umah which is better than making it up a few months later on your own where everybody else is not the second scenario is that I can fast but it would be a little bit hard and it is much easier for me to break my fast so in this case alhamdulillah you have the right to continue to fast but it's best for you it is best to skip it and take Allah's concession given to you as a gift in theah of bukari and Muslim Abu D may Allah be pleased with him says that we went in an expedition with the prophet in the month of Ramadan in a very hot day and some of us to the extent that used to put his hand over his head due to the Heat and none of us was fasting except the prophet and abdah so the rest of the companions broke their fast due to the hardship which was not fatal which was not something dangerous so in this case Allah gave you concession it's best for you to break your fast but if you insist on continuing there's no problem because the prophet did it and abdah as well the third scenario is that fasting would lead to harming you and there's huge unbearable hardship so in bukari and Muslim jab abdah tells us may Allah pleased with him man with his father that the prophet Sall was traveling once and he saw a crowd and in the middle there was a man who's being shaded upon people are shading him so he asked what is this so they said oh prophet of Allah this man is fasting and he's so tired and beat that we're shading him and we're trying to serve him the prophet saidat that it is not righteous a part of righteousness to fast when traveling so all of these evidences that may sound conflicting when you combine them you get these three scenarios and you learn that what are the types of uh um scenarios that can be applied when traveling the second excuse to break your fast is illness and the Shar considered being sick or ill an excuse that permits you to break your fast but what kind of an illness Scholars say the illness that if you fast your healing process would be hampered and delayed or you your fasting would cause you to be in danger or that your illness would increase in this case this is not permissible for you to fast but if the illness is minor and fasting does not impact it so someone has a cut or a wound in his hand or in finger and he says well I'm not going to fast because I'm sick no this is not permissible someone who has a light headache or toothache again this is not a reason to break your fast if someone was chronically ill and the scholars or the doctors say that this illness is incurable and this person is not going to be able to fast some people for example have diabetes in a certain type of Diabetes you must eat every couple of hours otherwise you're going to die or suffer in this case such a person though sick though skipped Ramadan he's not obliged to make it up rather he has to feed a poor person for every for every day that he uh missed because Allah says in the Quran for those who can fast only with extreme difficulty there is a way to compensate which is to feed a needy person for each day and this is what Allah has made easy for us IB Abbas may Allah be pleased with him says this Ayah is for the old man and women who are unable to to fast they have to feed a poor person so somewhat sometimes you're not sick you have no Illness but you're so old that and and so fatigued that you can uh not fast in this case you must pay a uh um a poor person you must feed that is not pay you must feed you must give food to a poor person uh uh to compensate for the M day what is the food Scholars say that you have to give one half of a s of wheat dates rice or other local staple food so half a which is approximately 1.25 uh kilog of that was which was mentioned of what the people usually eat and that would inshallah um do the job now also gave three categories of people that were sick similar to the people who were traveling number one a person whose illness or sickness is so minor that would not be impacted by fasting such as a person who has a cut or someone who has the flu or a light um headache this person is not permitted to break his fast number two someone who fighting hard to fast but it would not harm him so this person may find the pinch of hunger and thirst but it's not going to deteriorate his condition in this case it's not recommended for him to fast he has the concession he should break his fast the third person is someone who would be placed in real hardship and a real lifethreatening condition so someone when he fasts he's going to lose Consciousness deteriorate his condition delay his recovery or maybe die so in this case such a person must not fast what about those who let's say work uh uh a labor work someone who has to work underneath the heat of the Sun construction workers people that plow the ground so such people usually in an hour or two from the beginning of the day they need to drink they need to eat to keep some of the energy and go on for the rest of the day so such people like those Farmers or uh blacksmith or those who work in the mines or they work in construction under the sun they say that they should take their pre-dawn meal and have the intention to fast and they go to work fasting during working if they encounter severe thirst or hunger that they fear that they're going to be damaged because of that they feel that they may faint or be do something bad for their work or maybe a pilot traveling Westbound and after 16 hours 15 hours the guy is flying and he may endanger his own safety and the safety of the passengers with them we say no in in if this is the case you need to break your fast and what you're doing is something that requires you to uh um break your fast because Allah says and do not kill yourself Allah is merciful to you Allah doesn't want you to kill yourself or to endanger your own safety and the safety of others with you and Allah Knows Best [Music] muham for [Music]
