and welcome back to the 11th session in
the third level of the prophetic Noel
even though this is the 11th session but
we will be studying Hadith number 10
because the ninth and the 10th sessions
were studying Hadith number nine so now
with the 10th Hadith which is a sound
Hadith agreed upon its authenticity
collected by the two great imams Al
bukari and Muslim may Allah have mercy
on them and narrated by the the great
companion
Abu may Allah be pleased with him he
narrated that the messenger of Allah s
wasam May the greatest peace and
salutations be upon him said let whoever
believe in Allah and the last day speak
good or remain
silent then he added and let whoever
believes in Allah and the last day to
honor his neighbor
and let whoever believes in Allah in the
last day honor his
guests so this simple concise speech and
advice of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam is an indication that not only
the prophet Sall Al wasallam was the
perfect in manners characters and
etiquette but also the most eloquent he
delivered three Noble advices in a very
concise fashion in a very eloquent
why so when the prophet sallallah alaihi
wasallam
said let whoever believes in Allah and
the last day this is a conditional
sentence which means let him do the
following if you truly believe in Allah
in his Oneness he is the only one who's
worthy of worship he's the Creator he's
the one who resurrect us a resurrection
is simply for reconing so so there will
beab accountability or word and
Punishment then you need to prepare for
the day how to prepare for the day the
prophet sallallahu alhi wasallam
delivered three valuable and Noble
advices when he said let him speak what
is good or be quiet speaking what is
good good is of two
types we have good words and we have
words with which are not necessarily
good in themselves rather they lead to
good
objectives good words definitely number
one in the categories of what is good as
far as speech is the remembrance of
[Music]
Allah indeed in the remembrance of Allah
Hearts do find rest and it results in
that the almighty Allah will make
mention of those who remember him and
praise and glorify
him the almighty says that if you make
mention of me if you remember me if you
celebrate my praise I shall make mention
of you obviously in a gathering
of the Gathering of the Angels so any
word of glorifying praising the almighty
Allah the recitation of Allah's word the
Quran enjoying what is good forbidden
what is evil these words are good in
themselves as for the words which have
good objectives the words themselves not
necessarily good but the objective is
amazing such as reconciling between two
people who are having dispute boycotting
each
other uh putting people people at ease
comforting them assuring them you know
giving them Glad Tidings words are words
but what does it lead to or do these
words result in result in reconciling
between people putting people in a state
of comfort and rest accordingly and
Harmony accordingly the objective is
good even though the words themselves
are ordinary
words if the person before opening his
mouth
before uttering a word realizes that
what he's about to say is neither good
in itself nor have good objectives then
you better be quiet why because you'll
be held accountable for what you
say the messenger of Allah peace be upon
him said to Mu in the ly Hadith when he
asked him oh prophet of Allah guide me
to an act that if I do it will bring me
closer to Allah closer to heaven and
will take me further away from Hell Fire
and Allah's anger so there was a list of
advices and then by the end the
messenger of Allah says oh mu shall I
not guide you to the controller of all
of that he said oh certainly oh prophet
of Allah so the messenger of Allah peace
be upon Him took hold of his own tongue
and he
said control this so mu was kind of uh
surprised like you know is it that
important to watch what you say he said
oh prophet of Allah will we be held
accountable for what we just say he said
yes indeed there is nothing that toes
people on their faces in Hellfire more
than the Harvest of what they say may
Allah guide us to what is best so one
has to watch for what he or she will say
if is something good then go ahead
proceed
on enjoying what is good forbidding what
is evil reconciling between Muslims
bringing peace and comfort uh uh into
the life of others uh delivering Glad
Tidings to people all of that is good
reading Quran praising the almighty
Allah this is all good but idle
talk passive talk frightening people
mocking at others backbiting
slandering uh lying in order to make
people laugh all of that is forbidden
the almighty Allah stated in the Quran
that the signs of the successful
Believers is one of those signs one of
those trats those who turn away from the
idol talk they appreciate the value of
the word and the fear of saying a word
which doesn't have a good meaning which
is categorize as a lie even while joking
in Islam there is nothing called ail
fool you don't lie then you don't say
you say well I was just kidding I'm
kidding you no you say the truth or you
be quiet as the prophet sallallah wasam
said in brief Islam invites us to think
before you UT word then you filter the
speech the words if it is something good
BAH if you have a good intention behind
it otherwise zip off your mouth and
remain quiet this is indeed better for
you then once again in another
conditional statement the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam addresses in
people the quality of faith and
preparing for accountability so he says
not only in this Hadith by the way in
several other Hadith the messenger of
Allah will address the Believers saying
that let whoever believe in Allah and in
the last day and if you truly believe
that there
is who is the only Creator who the so
one who worthy of worship uh who will be
able to resurrect you after your death
in order to account you the reward you
or punish you then you better do the
following or abstain from uh the
following
Abdullah may Allah be pleased with
him said if you ever hear the almighty
in the Quran
saying oh who you
believe listen attentively lend an
attentive ear why well if you consider
yourself one of the Believers whom Allah
is calling upon then you should be among
the audience who are listening
attentively all right
here the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam says let whoever believes in
Allah in the last day do you yes then do
the foll do you then abstain from
whatever the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam is addressing you with as a
Prohibition that you should stay away
from the following uh instruction
guidance and teaching is uh whoever
believes in Allah and the last day let
him honor his
neighbor and obviously this refers to
the neighbor in the neighborhood who
lives with you in the same neighborhood
whose house is nearby or lives in the
same building in the same um in the same
street in the same compound and so on
obviously there are different types of
neighbors like uh you know when I'm at
work uh next door uh colleague coworker
these are neighbors but you know they
are not like permanent neighbors or the
kind of neighbors whom we mean Neighbors
in the neighborhood they live nearby but
in either case we're obliged to be kind
to everyone whether temporary neighbors
or permanent neighbors the Hadith
teaches us Noble characteristics and
Sublime
etiquette when any believer wants to
speak he should think about what he
wants to say
and when any believer has a neighbor he
should represent Islam not his uh
ego not his inner desire you're a true
Muslim you truly believe in Allah in the
last day whether the neighbor is Muslim
or not Muslim whether the neighbor is
somebody whom you love or you have no
relation with whether he is relative or
not related to you they all have rights
as we're going to explain the different
types of neighbors and their due rights
and so on give everyone their due rights
also the prophet S.I
wasam advised let whoever believe in
Allah and in the last day honor his
guests the
guests anyone who visits you and
hopefully this visit is for the sake of
Allah among the rights of the Muslims
upon other Muslims
that you exchange visits you exchange
gifts and if you know that somebody is
sick you pay him a visit you pray for
them uh in their whether in the hospital
or they are being treated at home you
visit them such a huge reward and when
you visit your brothers and sisters
visit the fellow
Muslims uh especially if you are a
traveler and uh from out of town you
have a big right as the prophet
sallallah Al wasam
indicated uh the right of the guest upon
the host is to give him a Hospitality a
day and night if you have a place for
him to crush in to sleep in and food
three meals more than
that is a charity and also the guest
should keep in mind that I shouldn't be
a heavy guest I shouldn't be demanding I
shouldn't say no to this and I want this
or I should you know I shouldn't be
demanding certain food certain
requirements because not everyone can
afford it so the prophet Sall alaih
wasallam taught the Believers that
honoring the guests taking care of them
offering them food offering them drink
and a place to sleep in is a sign of
belief is a sign that you believe in
Allah is a sign that you anticipate the
reward of the almighty Allah because you
believe that there will be a day of
judgment a day of Resurrection a reward
and punishment and so on many many
lessons we learn from this Hadith
brothers and sisters yeah for innocence
uh the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam mentions belief in Allah and
belief in the last day in conjunction
with the three
teachings and instructions that he
instructed us in this Hadith because
belief in Allah is the foundation of IM
in general and the rest of the six
articles of faith follow belief in Allah
including belief in the last day whoever
truly believes in Allah and in the last
day should control the
tongues this is an indication that they
have changed they have become true
believers they value the word and they
fear the danger of the word as long as
you keep quiet you are safe once you
open your mouth it's either good or bad
no word will be categorized as nonsense
it will not be recorded as or no even if
the
Angels both are in a charge of recording
our Deeds the almighty
says both are watchful and anxiously
waiting for you to utter a word so if it
is clear good the angel of the Good
Deeds were recorded as
otherwise it will be recorded as if it
is something that the Angels don't know
whether it's good or bad some people
they come with lot of slangs
like stuff like that they don't know did
he mean good did he mean bad the
almighty Allah will say right it as is
then Allah the almighty will deposit it
according to the intention of the
speaker himself be careful
nothing comes from between your lips but
are anxiously waiting to record it
either for you or against you that's why
Abu Bakr sik may Allah be pleased with
him uh would take hold of his tongue and
he would say this has caused me a great
deal of trouble and he is Abu Bakr sik
the first in the 10 Heaven bound
companion L Abdullah may Allah be
pleased with him said besides whom there
is no no God worthy of worship by Allah
besides whom there is no God worthy of
worship there is nothing on Earth more
deserving of lengthy imprisonment than
the tongue the neighbors whom the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall
instructed us to honor to take care of
to give them gifts to lower our gaze
when we see
their to speak good to to greet them
upon seeing them and if you receive or
if you're wealthy and they are poor you
give them some of what you have are of
three types and neighbor and that is
indicated inah chapter number
four so we have a neighbor who is a
neighbor lives in the same neighborhood
uh nearby and he is a relative and he's
a Muslim they have three rights upon you
and a neighbor who is Muslim
and uh not related to you but he's a
neighbor two rights and a neighbor who
is just a neighbor is neither Muslim nor
relative they still have rights upon you
even if they're Jews or Christians or
whatever honoring one's neighbor is a
general concept concerning which refers
uh reference should be made to custom uh
this is a sign of a True Believer uh
brothers and sisters my dear students
our religion is a religion of Harmony uh
closeness upholding ties and getting to
know one another and that's why the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also
taught us that honoring the guest is a
sign of belief and it is indeed an act
of Charity the almighty Allah
praised some companions in the Quran
in because they have honored the guest
of the Prophet sallallah wasallam they
didn't know the guest before but the
prophet sallallahu alhi wasallam said
who can uh give some hospitality and
host our guest tonight so they give him
their own food and they slept without
eating any so the almighty Allah Praise
Him in the Quran for preferring and
giving preference to the guest over
their own needs May the Almighty Allah
teach us what we don't know and gu us to
what is best until next time
