all Praises due to Allah alone we praise
him and we seek his help wh soever Allah
guides is the truly guided one
whomsoever Allah leaves the say none can
show him guidance May the greatest peace
and salutations be upon Prophet Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam my dear
students and viewers welcome back to the
15th episode in the third level of the
Noel prophetic a Hadith today inshallah
we'll get to study the first segment of
Hadith number 13 so Hadith number 13
will be divided into two sessions this
is the first session in episode number
15 then the 16th inshallah we cover the
remaining part of Hadith number 13 which
is a sound Hadith agreed upon its
authenticity collected by the two great
imams bukari and Muslim and others and
the narrator of this Hadith is the great
companion
Abdullah whom we spoke about his
biography uh couple times
before narrated
that said the prophet of Allah May the
greatest peace and blessings be upon him
said there is no Envy except in two
cases the first case is a man to whom
Allah has given wealth and he is inable
to spend it
appropriately and the second case is a
man man to whom Allah has given wisdom
and he judges in accordance with it and
teaches it to others as I mentioned
earlier the Hadith is agreed upon its
authenticity the prophet sallallah wasam
began the Hadith by saying there is no
Envy referring to the prohibition of all
kind of envy and envy is an English word
refers to what is known in Arabic as
hassad we say in the Quran when we seek
rev of Allah
against inah we seek Refuge with Allah
against the evil of the EnV whenever he
envies so Envy is a major sin Envy is
Haram hassad is a fire that devours the
heart of the envier and alassad is
wishing that the person
whom they
Envy they lose the blessing that Allah
bestowed upon them why they think it is
too much for him or
her so when a person say somebody
blessed with a
blessing something material something in
their health something their spouses in
their children in their homes or even in
the religious commitment say lucky you
how did he get this car you know I am
more worthy more deserving this car than
him this job than him my son is more
worthy than his son to become a doctor
or my son is more worthy to marry this
girl than his son that's called
hassad so alassad is to wish that
somebody who's been blessed with a
blessing would lose it this is Hass in
general then there will be another
classification whether alhassid the
envier would like to have what the
person whom he envied has or just simply
that he would wish he would lose it some
people are so evil to that extent
so wasallam began by saying that Envy is
absolutely forbidden Envy is Haram Envy
is a major sin no Envy he forbade Envy
this
is here
is not what is the difference the
difference is huge when the prophet Sall
Al wasallam says he means you should not
envy so it is prohibition but means
negation means doesn't exist except in
two cases no the second meaning is wrong
is refused even though
the is the same in the case of negation
in the case of prohibition but from the
context we understand that here
is there should not be any Envy there
shouldn't be any Hass hassad is not
allowed except in one of two
cases
well the first case as the prophet Sall
was
said if a person is blessed with
wealth and Allah has guided him and
enabled him to spend it
appropriately what is the meaning of to
spend it
appropriately you know there is another
Hadith in
which
said all people in this life can be
categorized into four categories you me
Muslims non-muslims every person is one
of those four categories and he said the
first category is a person whom Allah
has blessed with wealth plenty of wealth
and knowledge the knowledge of Allah the
knowledge of the dean the knowledge of
the Hereafter
belief so he utilizes this knowledge or
wisdom to spend and dispense his wealth
properly
and
appropriately he knows that this wealth
that Allah bestowed upon Him is a gift
from Allah accordingly he acknowledges
Allah's right in this wealth the
relatives rights in this wealth the
Poor's rights in this wealth and he
dispenses to everyone their due rights
so the messenger of Allah said such
category is the best of the
best that is the mean
off and he spends it
appropriately he pays its due zaka he
spends modly he takes care of his
relatives and he sponsor orphans he uh
supports good causes building Masid a
hospital Distributing Quran da causes he
knows that this wealth belongs to Allah
so he he spends this wealth of his in a
way that pleases is the almighty Allah
including spending on himself and
spending on his family members wife and
children the messenger of Allah peace be
upon him said in the
Hadith
when wanted to give away all his wealth
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
said
don't and then he advised him
saying you should understand oh sad that
any spending that you spend seeking the
pleasure of Allah counts as an act of
Charity even what you feed your
wife what you spend on yourself your
children your wife food school education
treatment medication housing lodging
whatever these are all acts of Charity
so the charity is not only to give to
the Baggers or the poor and the needy
supporting yourself from your lawful
income even if it is mountains tons of
money as long as you have earned it
lawfully it's okay you pay it you the
zaka you pay it due zaka in addition to
the voluntary charity helping good
causes taking care of your family
spending
moderately mashallah this is the best of
the best so when you see somebody who's
like that and you wish to buy to be like
him uh this is called
the positive the positive Envy it's
allowed it's
reccommended and you will be rewarded
for such
feeling you pray for the person who's
blessed with wealth and wisdom and say m
may Allah give you
more Allah bless you in your car in your
house in your children in your wife in
your knowledge in your Quran in your
speech
you wish will for others and meanwhile
say I wish I was like him it's okay this
is not hassad that's
called linguistically it's an ambiguous
word sometimes they use hassad but they
mean it in a good sense which is of
course then the second
case which is exempt from hassad in
general which is
prohibited is when you see a man whom
Allah bestow upon Him
wisdom which is
knowledge the religious
knowledge the knowledge of the dean the
knowledge of the
Sunnah which removes ignorance and it
turns one from indulging into
sins and evil
Deeds through this knowledge he judges
between people and teaches people he
enjoins what is good he forbids what is
evil he's proactive in the community
mashallah
I envy this brother in a good
sense that is the word in Arabic this is
positive and this is
allowed in the Hadith which inshallah
we'll discuss in the following session
to explain what is
praiseworthy and what is forbidden
hassad we learn that some people were
not that given knowledge nor money but
they wish they were like such positive
people people they have this positive
attitude so they will be rewarded the
same because of their good intention of
wishing to be like them merely because
they utilize their wealth they utilize
their wisdom in good causes
appropriately in a way that pleases the
almighty Allah here would like to share
with you the different levels of
Envy in general the first one which is
absolutely forbidden
when the envier wishes that oh where did
he get this Mercedes from I wish he
would lose it so even if it is not given
to the envier it doesn't matter as long
as he would see the person who's blessed
with a blessing would lose it such Pure
Evil the second kind of Envy is wish
that the person who's blessed with
whatever blessing would uh uh
lose it and he will get it
instead Subhan Allah he is as evil as
the first and even
worse both are
evil one may be worse than the other but
both are evil you still have a chance to
wish well for others and to wish and
pray that Allah will give you similar
too there is nothing wrong with that and
that's why the third is wishing that the
person whom you
envy wishing for the EnV to be given a
blessing similar to that which he has
been which has been bestowed upon the
other person so that there will be no
difference between them and in case that
he cannot get something similar to it
then the EnV wishes that it will be
taken away from the person he envies so
that they will be equal in the loss that
to is evil then the fourth level which
is a positive Envy a posit positive Envy
which is known in Arabic
as this is praiseworthy feeling this is
what the prophet sallallahu Ali wasallam
exempt the two cases in the Hadith which
is not Envy in a typical literal meaning
it simply means wishing to be given a
blessing similar to that which was given
to another person without it without it
being taken away from uh him or her this
is okay
not only okay this is a
praiseworthy if it is in one of two one
of the two things wealth which is spend
appropriately or wisdom which has been
used
properly brothers and sisters until next
time inshallah I leave you in the care
of Allah we will continue inshallah in
the next episode explaining the
remaining segment of this Hadith until
next time
