alhamdulillah
my dear students welcome to the 16th
episode in the third level of the
prophetic Noel Hadith and today we'll
continue with the second segment of
studying Hadith number 13 which is
narrated by Abdullah may Allah be
pleased with him in which he mentioned
that the messenger of Allah peace be
upon him said there is no Envy except in
one of two conditions meaning that Envy
is forbidden absolutely Hass is Haram
except in one of two conditions which is
called in a case that a man is blessed
with plenty of wealth and he spends it
all
appropriately and the second case a man
whom Allah blessed with wisdom so he
acts in accordance to this wisdom and he
judges between people with it and U he
teaches it to others so in this case
wishing to be like the first or the
second category while praying for them
with Baraka hoping that they maintain
the blessings that Allah bestowed upon
them whether uh Let It Be wealth or
wisdom is actually absolutely
permissible rather it is encouraged and
highly recommended and you will be
rewarded for so here I would like to
quickly recap and remind you that the
Hadith indicates that Envy is of two
types one which is absolutely forbidden
because of wishing that others would
lose the blessing that Allah bestowed
upon them and why is it forbidden
because
simply the envious person is objecting
to the will of Allah and how Allah
decreed and divided his risk has given
somebody more than others in one area
while giving the other more than this
person in another area he doesn't like
Allah's distribution of his own
blessings so he's objecting to Allah's
decree he's objecting to Allah's will
such person is blame worthy and doesn't
deserve any blessing because he is
envious um the second type which is uh
approved or exempt is what the prophet
Sall was said wishing to be like the
person who's blessed with wealth and he
spend it appropriately or a person who's
blessed with wisdom and he acts uh in
its accordance he teaches it to others
and he judges between People based on
the wisdom which Allah bestowed upon him
so he prays for him or her may Allah
bless you in what he has given you and
he wishes to have similar to that all of
that is praiseworthy and
permissible now we come to shed some
more light on the positive uh Envy not
the literal meaning of hassad rather on
what is known as
those who are to be envied
most the two
cases the person whom Allah blessed with
wealth you don't envy him or her because
they are wealthy
no if you remember last episode when I
shared with you how the prophet
Sall
said people in this life or are one of
four categories we spoke about the first
and the second category
the man whom Allah blessed with plenty
of wealth and he recognizes that this is
a blessing from Allah and he
acknowledges Allah's rights in it
relatives rights in it Po's rights in it
and he gives everyone their do your
rights the zaka voluntary charity taking
care of the relatives helping the poor
and the needy spending moderately upon
himself and his family members thanking
Allah for what is given this is the best
because given knowledge and wealth and
the second is a person who is not been
given uh wealth but is given wdom and
knowledge so he says oh Allah he looks
at the person who's been given wealth
and he says if Allah had given me such
wealth I would have done like him or
even
more
so by
analogy he earns the same reward of the
first person even though he didn't spend
a penny in a charity like him he didn't
do like him but because of his sincere
and good
intention the third category is a person
whom Allah give plenty of wealth plenty
of wealth but deprive them of wisdom or
the religious
knowledge so he doesn't know really how
to spend his wealth properly he he may
spend his wealth in Haram he may spend
his wealth in and buying wine Alcohol
Tobacco drugs uh watching dancers going
to
nightclubs you know he doesn't pay his
due zaka he doesn't help the poor but
his wealth is spent
inappropriately he's evil but you know
who is more evil a person who's been
deprived of wealth and knowledge all
together and when he looks at all the
four
categories the previous three categories
what really tempts him attracts him most
the third is the one who utilizes his PL
of wealth in doing what is
forbidden in satisfying his uh lustful
desires he says wow if I was like so and
so I would go to such and such place to
gamble or to the nightclub I would I
would do even more than
him even though he was not giv any
wealth but he Bears a similar sin by
analogy because of his evil
intention so when Allah subhana wa
ta'ala gives somebody the wealth and the
knowledge and he knows how to dispense
his wealth and gives everyone their du
rights this is somebody whom we should
do not the literal meaning of Hass we
like him we like her we wish to be like
them and we ask Allah to bless them in
what he has given them
the second is the wisdom itself without
the wealth so either or either all
together or the wisdom by itself and the
knowledge by itself both are to be
envied in a good sense in a positive way
brothers and sisters this is a very
educational and an amazing Hadith in
respect of you know intentions and how
should we look into each other and
compare ourselves to others yeah we
understand that h said is a major sin
and it is agreed upon its
prohibition and it is similar to fire
that devours the heart of the envier
because he or she will be objecting to
Allah's decree and the way that he
divided his risk unfortunately hassad is
one of the characteristics of the people
of the book before us the almighty Allah
says in the Quran inah Bak chapter
number two verse number one
[Music]
n many of the people of the
scripture wish that they should they
could turn you back into this belief
why why after you've accepted Faith
after you have
believed out of Envy from
themselves and him look how much hassad
could turn the person into a ha Monger
they Envy the Believers that Allah sent
to them Prophet Muhammad and they
followed him and they became righteous
they en they wish that that the prophet
would die they wish that those
companions would go back on their heels
and they become pagans once again even
though Allah has given them the book The
tah and that's why the almighty says in
the Quran
in its literal sense we agree that it is
Haram it is
forbidden but here in the Hadith it
doesn't refer to the literal meaning
rather it refers to the aspect of Envy
in a good sense in a positive way which
is known as
so if the prophet said generally Hass is
forbidden then he
exempt which is praiseworthy Al Hadith
brothers and sisters highlights the
virtue of having knowledge and acting in
its accordance with
it um it urges us to seek wealth also in
a permissible way even if we pile up
plenty of wealth as long as it is from
Halal sources and you get give everyone
their due rights and you recognize that
this is a gift and a test from Allah the
messenger of Allah peace be upon him
said to when he wanted to give him part
of the SPO they said I'm not into money
I don't want money he
[Music]
said how excellent it is when the wealth
which is halal is put in the hands of
the rightest servant Subhan Allah versus
when wealth falls in the hand of the
wrong person whether it regards to
wisdom which is referred to in the
Hadith people may be divided into four
categories all have been given wisdom
the first three categories and the
fourth is people who have not been given
wisdom yet so the four categories with
regards to wisdom is some whom Allah has
given wisdom but they're so stingy they
they they even themselves have not
benefited out of the wisdom which Allah
has given them like the verse I
mentioned before about the people of the
book how Allah the almighty said the
parable the example of those who have
been given the
T is like
what the t is a book of Allah it was
full of wisdom as well all the words of
Allah are wise guidance but they didn't
act upon it they threw it behind their
back they pretended as if it was not
revealed to them so the almighty gave
them the likeness
of Imagine a a donkey carrying loads of
books how beneficial is it for the
donkey is he going to read the books no
so it's a terrible example but this is
the category which is indeed worst Allah
have chosen you giving you the wisdom
giving you the knowledge giving you the
guidance you didn't even benefit out of
yourself out of it your own self Subhan
Allah may Allah protect us against that
the second category are those whom Allah
has given them wisdom so they benefit
themselves with it and they are very
stingy they don't share it with others
those two are being condemned you know
and they are condemned because they
prevented this from reaching
others the third category Those whom
Allah has given them wisdom and they
judge according to such wisdom and they
share it with others they act upon it
themselves and those are the best of the
best the best of the four categories as
the prophet sallallahu alhi wasallam
said before in the Quran Allah the
almighty
says Allah is the one who grants wisdom
to whever he wills and who whoever is
been blessed with wisdom indeed has been
blessed with a great deal of blessing
mallah finally the fourth category is
the person who's not been given wisdom
but the wish to be like the first or the
second or the third rather the third
category whom they see that they have
been blessed with wisdom they act upon
it they follow it they teach it to
others and they judge between people in
its accordance may Allah grant us all
wisdom and may Allah enable us to act
upon
it till next time
