alhamdulillah
the
prophet as mentioned in his biography
had many
servants yet you have to understand that
these servants were not
Butlers or the type of slaves and
servants that we see in 1,000 nights and
night rather he himself
used to serve himself serve his own
family fix his own uh sandals flee his
own clothes and uh uh patch them if
needed milk his own sheep then what was
the use of these servants these servants
only served
him because they loved to do whatever
they could for him and they would not
serve him in his house rather to do
errands outside of the house
says among these servants were Ann Malik
may Allah be pleased upon all of them
Companions and anas used to be in charge
of the prophet's personal needs when he
wanted something he would send this
young boy
whom his mother came
and offered her own child 10 years of
age to serve the prophet wasam as she
had no money to offer the prophet as a
gift so anas Malik was there Abdullah
masud who was
responsible for carrying the prophet's
sandals and his
siak and Abdullah masud as we know was
one of the best four companions whom the
prophet
himself instructed us to learn the Quran
from them he said take the Quran from
four one of them
is referring
todah also there
was who was in charge of the prophet's
mule that the prophet sometimes traveled
uh on there
was and he was also responsible for the
saddle of the Prophet there
was who was the of the Prophet
Alat and also s the ma of Abu Bakr may
Allah be pleased with them all and there
was
abari and
and his mother um a and the rest of
those who volunteered and loved to be at
the service of the
Prophet an says when the my mom came to
the prophet
Alam and offered me to serve him I
served him for 10 years and he
never beat me up he
never cussed me or said any bad words to
me he never frown in my
face the prophet interaction with the
servants
is a milestone for us he's our role
model and
heat used to order us
to eat and drink and at the same time
feed them from what we're eating and
what we are drinking and this is what he
said they are your brethren Allah made
them under your control so whomever his
brother was under his control he should
feed him from what he eats he should uh
uh dress him from what he wears and he
should
not order him to do something that is
above his control and if you do order
them then assist them and help
them and the
prophet used to
visit his servants when they were sick
as in the Hadith of the young Jewish boy
who was a prophet's
servant when he got sick the prophet
visited him and invited him to Islam and
he accepted Islam after Consulting his
father and alhamdulillah the prophet was
so happy that Allah saved him from
Hellfire because of
that also the prophet Alam used to make
Dua for his
servants and
when asked the prophet Alat wasam to
make Dua for her son the prophet said oh
Allah increase his
wealth and his
children and prolong his
life and forgive his
sins Anna says this
Dua of the Prophet
Alat
today I have more
than a 100 of my own children and
grandchildren
whom I've buried so many who died before
me and I am one of the most yeah uh uh
living
companions because of my old age because
of the Dua of the Prophet Alam and
everyone's Farm produces once a year
mine produces twice a year and also this
is because of the Dua of the Prophet
Alam and I pray to Allah that the fourth
would also come true which is the
Forgiveness of
um my
sins
and the prophet
Al
also
said and told us not to
become frustrated or angry because this
is normal when we have people serving us
and they don't do things what we ask
them to do we got frustr we get
frustrated the prophet am as an says
would never for the nine or 10 years
that I had served him in would never say
to me why did you do so and so or to
something I did not do had you not done
that had you done so and so and I wish
you have done it no the prophet would
not blame him or confu or uh
um yeah complain that he did not do what
he asked him to
do and a man as in theith of may Allah
be pleased with him says a man came to
the prophet Alat wasam saying oh prophet
of Allah how many times should we pardon
our
servant the prophet did not respond to
him so the man repeated his question
twice and then in the third time when he
asked his question for the third time
how many times should we pardon our
servant the prophet said you have to
Pardon your servant 70 times a
day if he makes mistakes for 70 times a
day you pardon him and Overlook such a
mistake not only that the prophet Alat
wasam used to
overlook their
mistakes the prophet sallallahu alaihi
Ali wasallam used to look Overlook their
mistakes and not only that he would give
them
excuses anas says when the prophet Sall
wasallam used to tell me to do something
and I either forget or neglect or
because of being a child I used to play
with the boys on the streets when my
family members reprimand me and scold me
for
not doing what the prophet said to me to
doam the prophet would defend me and
says and say to them don't do that
if it was distant it if it was decreed
he would have done and done that and
this is no problem part of the etiquet
of interacting with servants that you
give them their
wages as as soon as the job is done the
prophet
saidat
give
The Hired
Hand his
wages his fee before his sweat
dries and
definitely the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam would not physically harm his
servants and he would treat them in a
extremely humane way unlike what we see
today from people engaging in domestic
abuse and the like the prophet says
whoever
slaps his own servant his own
slave then the experation of that is to
set that slave
