Alhamdulillah.
Continuing with Islamic creed level
three and the subject of or calling a
Muslim a disbeliever. Some of the some
of the criteria the conditions to be
fulfilled for someone to be called a
disbeliever that means he left the fold
of Islam which as we heard before this
is the job of the people of knowledge.
This is the job of the people of
authority. This is not for a layman or a
common person to declare or to make
these types of decisions against someone
else. But from the perspective, from the
knowledge perspective, how can that be
applied? Uh as we heard before that this
is a ruling done by matters of dean. So
this is something that Allah subhana t
is the one that called and charact gave
the characteristics of the disbelievers
and the for example and things like
this. So it's only by Allah subhana wa
ta'ala. This is not for people to decide
what constitutes a disbeliever or being
a disbeliever or being a rebellious
sinner against the commands of Allah
subhana wa tala and so on. So this is
has to be very clearly stated that it's
based on the the revelation from Allah
subhana wa ta'ala and anyone that
saysahillah
that means he's a Muslim unless proven
otherwise right so this is something
that is with certainty he's a believer
and for someone to call him a
disbeliever it has to be also with
certainty not with doubts not with
possibilities but it has to be with
certainty
Also a very important aspect as
mentioned before is that we take the
apparent things of one's speech and
actions. We don't judge what's in the
hearts of the people. We only see what
they say and what they do. And this is
basically what is to be the judgment
based upon these matters. And of course
again by the people of knowledge uh to
making sure that a person committed not
just committed the act of disbelief but
he deserve to be among the disbelievers
because one of the very important
aspects that is very important for us to
understand there's differences between
the the the act and the door of the
action. So the act itself might be an
act of disbelief but the doer of the
action even though he did an act of
disbelief it is not by necessity he
becomes a disbeliever.
So if the called a certain act as for
example
whoever swears by Allah by other than
Allah whoever swears by other than Allah
he committed an act of disbelief or act
of shik. So if you're sitting in a
gathering and someone swear by other
than Allah, then is it permissible for
you to call that person a kafir? Because
that's what the prophetat was said. The
answer is no. Because first of all, this
is in the category of the minor shik or
the minor kufra as we heard about that
before. And then to for someone to be
called a kafir as a result of that, he
has to believe that whatever he swear by
is something that he exalts so much the
way that he exalt Allah subhana wa
ta'ala. So who would give such a
judgment right? So that's why we have to
separate between the action and the doer
of the action. So uh we have to warn
ourselves from these actions that the
prophetat was called whoever does it is
a disbeliever or so so that we avoid it
and show how dangerous it is. But when
it comes to the rulings of this worldly
life then this is not something to be
applied by necessity unless certain
criteras has to be met and certain
things has to be negated and this is
where basically these conditions are
mentioned because there's so many
evidences as we heard that the prophetat
wasam forbade the people from doing such
a thing and it's calling a believer a
disbeliever is like as if a person
killed him. So uh this is one of the
important aspects of things that leads
us to then the conditions you know of
the if a person fulfill or fits these
criterias or these conditions uh then
the ruling of is done by the and by the
people of authority but this is how they
would give that judgment. So it's not
for the common person to do it and this
is what the criteria or the conditions
that they would apply if someone is to
be declared a disbeliever in this
worldly life. First of all it has to be
clearly stated that whatever speech he
gave whatever action he did whatever
something that he abandoned or whatever
they did is a matter of disbelief
according to the Quran and the sunnah of
the prophetat and that requires the of
course. Uh the second thing is it has to
be clearly that that person did it with
clear evidences that he did such a thing
you know and uh this is clearly Allah
subhana wa ta'ala stated in the Quran
and in the hadith of the prophetat
warning against this you know so if
someone claims that someone said or did
where's the evidence to that
the third condition that or the evidence
has to be established meaning if Someone
says something or did something and he
say for example he just became a Muslim
today he doesn't know that this is part
of the dean of Allah you know and he did
it did not reach him the evidence that
he knew that this is a matter of
disbelief
as Allahh says we are not to punish till
we send a messenger and the prophetat
was he said
by the one that the soul of Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam in his hands
swearing by Allah subhana wa t'ala
none of this um would hear about me
a Jew or a Christian
then he die without believing in what I
have been sent with
unless he is from the people of the
hellfire. So the condition is that he
had to have heard about the prophetat.
So al the evidence has to be established
against such an individual.
Also the uh one of the things that has
to be established is to negate uh the
things that would prevent him from
falling into the issue of the for
example ignorance. He doesn't know that
this is part of the dean of Allah
subhana t uh making a mistake.
Someone is you know waking up someone
else from sleep. So that person waking
up from sleep, he says a word of
disbelief. He said it by mistake. He's
not aware of what he's saying. So does
that make a person a disbeliever? Of
course not.
Is you know, and we know the hadith of
the prophet was that we talked about it
before about the the one that
that he made a mistake as a result of an
extreme joy when he lost his mount and
his the animal and all the provisions.
And then when he was certain that he
died and he laid down under the shade of
a tree waiting for death then he opened
his eyes and all of a sudden his animals
there and the provisions. So he was so
joyful that he said
he said oh my lord you are my slave and
I'm your lord and the prophetat said he
made a mistake as a result of the
intense joy that he was in. So making a
mistakes slip of a tongue for example
not aware of things being forced
someone a sword was on his neck you know
unless he says the word of disbelief and
he says it but his heart is content with
and only Allah subhana t knows what's in
his heart and also the subject of a he
kind of misunderstand the evidences or
uh the meaning of it has been twisted
things of that nature with a valid of
course means of that and that's why the
are the ones that are really entrusted
with this matter and not for the
individuals to be in haste in these
types of things. Uh then after that is
what prevents since we talked about what
are the things that prevents the person
from falling into the uh into the or
into the which we just mentioned briefly
here. So we'll talk about it in more
details next time.
