I start in In the name of Allah, the
compassion, the merciful. All praise is
due to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And
may the peace and blessings of Allah be
upon his prophet Muhammad, his family,
his companions, and his followers all
until the day of reckoning. I welcome
you to this new lesson of the taps level
4 at Zad Academy. And today we are
dealing with surah al that is a mecca
surah revealed before the hijra of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
Allahel says in this surah afterman

Now, the meaning of this is the
following.
Indeed, we sent the Quran
during sent the Quran down during the
night of decree. decree or honor. And
what can make you know what is the night
of decree? The night of decree is better
than a thousand months. The angels and
the spirit descend therein
with all decrees of their uh of their
lord for every matter. Peace it is until
the emergence of dawn. These are verses
1 to5 of surah al and this is the
complete surah. Now of course there's a
virtue of
uh and and the night of decree. We know
that this is the best night of the year.
Albkari and Muslim narrated from Abu
that the messenger of Allah sallall
alaihi wasallam said whoever spends the
night of
in prayer out of faith and in the hope
of reward his previous sins will be
forgiven.
And there are many other hadiths which
speak of the virtue of
is is the greatest night of all uh the
nights of the year and indeed there are
many virtues for it and forgiveness and
blessings and uh mercy coming from
allahel on on that night and also some
actions.
Look what uh the uh verses say regarding
this. Uh indeed we sent the Quran down
during the night of decree. The word
translated here as decree it refers to
the divine decree.
It was said uh also the uh might and
honor. So from
which is the decree or from the status
the high status of
the correct view is that it includes
both meanings. So is a night of great
eminence and honor on which it is
decreed that what will happen in the
coming year. Of course, allahel will
reveal uh on that night to the angels
and uh and bring down uh the decrees
that uh of things that will take place
during the year on that night. So that
is how important that night is. Now what
is meant is that allahel sent down uh
the glorious Quran all at once
is referring to the glorious Quran and
Quran was not mentioned by name but only
by uh the pronoun
but we revealed it but actually it is
referring to the glorious Quran because
there are some other suras where the
same thing is being mentioned. We'll
come to that inshallah shortly. And of
course, allahel revealed the glorious
Quran from
and I know that it's not it's
in Arabic. So we should pronounce it as
such. uh to the lowest heaven and he
sent it down to his messenger Muhammad
wasallam uh over 23 years based on
events and laws and legislation uh that
was uh taking place uh at the time of
the prophetam during his own mission uh
over the period of 23 years. And uh
those who believe say of course uh there
are some people who say that why would
there be
um uh
like uh they are just saying why would
the Quran uh was not revealed to the
prophetam all at once. Um and as as in
the glorious Quran and those who
disbelieve say uh why was the Quran not
revealed to him all at once?
And the answer thus it is that we may
strengthen thereby your heart
and we have spaced it distinctly.
This is in surah al. So it was spaced
and segmented into into suras and ayas
and revealed upon the prophetam
to uh uh strengthen his heart and also
to uh space it and to segment it and to
uh uh space it uh distinctly uh in
response to laws and legislations.
um uh at that time for for every every
incident or event that took place uh
during the life of the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam between the
first revelation the Quran and the and
the and the last one there were 23 years
as we mentioned and allahel also told us
that he sent down sent it down in a
blessed night
indeed we sent it down during a blessed
night this is in
it means Allah
revealed the whole Quran uh in a blessed
night that is uh night of that was
during the month of Ramadan because as
Allahel says in Bakar he said Ramadan
the month of Ramadan is that in which
was revealed the Quran. So we know for
sure that the Quran was revealed um on
the night of in the month of Ramadan uh
all together to the first heaven and
then after that was revealed uh over the
period of 23 years and what can make you
know what is the night of this is like a
a question but it it it's it's it's it
shows the and highlights the great
significance
of that night to Muhammad.
The night of decree is better than a
thousand months. Look at this uh great
blessing from allahel that um the uh
night of any any any good deed uh done
in that night is better than a good deed
uh than than a good deed done in 1,000
other months. That brings us to almost
like uh 84 years and four months. 84
years and four months. Look, this is a
lot of time where uh you can consider uh
the the period of time that Allahel
is is giving um in during that night.
That's why we're always supposed to seek
it and to worship in it and to devote
our time uh in in dua and supplication
and good deeds during that night in
order to receive Allah's pleasure and
acceptance. And u in that night the
angels and the spirit uh descend
therein. that is uh the the angels in in
in big numbers and also the spirit
meaning Giblam.
They will all descend on that night to
the first to the to to to the to the
earth by permission of their lord for
every matter or uh they will they will
descend to the first heaven.
um the permission by permission of their
uh lord for every matter.
This is the angel's descent on the
commands of allahel
for every matter Allah has decreed for
the coming year. So they'll bring all
the uh decrees that will take place uh
during the coming year. peace it is
until uh uh the emergence of dawn. So
it's all good. There's nothing bad in it
until the break of dawn. It's a night of
mercy and night of greatness. Now what
we learn from these ays uh and the surah
is that it highlights the greatness of
allahel subhanahu wa ta'ala. He refers
to himself as um in the plural uh as he
as an indication of his greatness where
he said subhanahu wa ta'ala indeed we
sent the Quran down
like we uh sent the Quran down. He said
he did not say I sent the Quran. He said
we that is because heaw is the most
great and and uh also this is common in
the glorious Quran. Another ayah says
and and another ayah.
So uh
all these ays are mentioned there.
Indeed it is we uh sent down the Quran
and indeed we will be its guardian. This
is in surah al you'll find these uh this
very common in the glorious Quran and
how this is sometimes is
Allah refers to himself in the singular
as in the verse indeed Allah
there is no god worthy of worship except
me.
So worship me and establish prayer for
my remembrance.
So we find that in
the focus is on the greatness of allahel
he allahel uses the plural
which is to emphasize his greatness
subhanahu wa'ta'ala.
coming to the um descent of the angels
uh on earth is indicative of mercy and
blessing. Of course, the angels will not
descend and will not be present in a
place unless there is uh it's a good
place and there is a goodness and
blessing in it. Otherwise, if there is
like an image of um animate person or
animate being or if there is a dog, the
angels will not come down.
Uh that's why uh there's an injunction
from the prophet not to keep images in
houses um and not to keep dogs inside
the house in order for the angels uh to
uh be with the person with the believers
inside that house. The divine decrees
may be divided into two categories. When
we talk about decrees,
we we talk about two things. The
religious or the decree and the
universal or ki decree. Now the
religious decree is that what Allah
subhana wa tala has ordained as part of
the laws and rulings of the religion and
as Allah says subhanahu wa ta'ala in the
glorious Quran
uh or have the partners who have
ordained for them a religion to which
Allah has no has not cons consented
meaning that Allah has not given
permission uh for it to happen. People
may or may not uh adhere to this decree
because it's a sh it's a it's an
injunction from allahel and people may
or may not follow it. The universal or
county decree refers to what allahel
uh has decrees and and and it should
happen because this referred to uh as as
in the verse uh
this is the angels and the spirit uh uh
decreed therein with or descent therein
with all decrees of their lord
That's that's something that will will
take place. Everything written will be
coming and um will take place
regardless. Uh the followers of
elevations do things that Allahel has
not decreed or given permission for them
to do yet they will not do it unless
they are given the permission by
allahel. So meaning that allahel has
decided that they can do it. However,
they will not be able to do it. Uh, and
they they're not asked to do it, but yet
they're doing it against the um
injunction or instruction of allahel.
Now, coming to the activities, how can
you reconcile between the verse? Indeed,
we send the Quran down during the night
of decree.
Um the apparent the apparent meaning of
uh which may indicate that the entire
Quran was revealed at once with the
verse um in which Allah says
and it is a Quran which um
we have uh
separated ated by
intervals that you may you might recite
it to the people over a prolonged
period.
How come uh it was paced and was
revealed? And we we tal we already
talked about that and we said uh the
glorious was taken from al- the pres
preserved tablet to the first heaven all
at once and then from the first heaven
to the prophetat wasam over a period of
23 years
based on uh you know incidents and laws
and legislations. uh the divine decree
may be divided into two categories. Uh
discuss this topic. Well, as we said uh
the sh and and uh universal or county uh
uh decrees. Um and the first one that
the sh is only taking place by the
believers and it's not not the rejectors
and the disbelievers will not uh do it.
However, the uh uh universal one that
must must happen and take place and of
course everything that uh takes place is
by the permission and the decree and um
the law of Allah subhana wa tala. This
brings us to the end of our uh lesson
