Alhamdulillah.
Now there are guidelines that
govern
transactions
especially why some types of
transactions are haram are prohibited
and this is the beauty of Islam.
We've said earlier in terms of
forms of worship,
the default is it has to be backed up by
evidence. You cannot come up with a form
of worship say hm it looks nice.
It has to be backed up by Quran or
Sunnah otherwise it's prohibited. It's
an innovation. When we come to speak
about
transactions,
it's the opposite. All types of
transactions are halal unless
or otherwise specified. So if we don't
have evidence to prove it's haram, the
default is it's halal.
And the scholars looked into the
evidences from the Quran and the Sunnah.
This is their job to investigate and to
research.
And they looked into all these evidences
and they came up with the conclusion
that there are three most important
guidelines that highlight why
transactions can be prohibited. And
these guidelines are
number one ribba which is usery number
two deceit or transgression
cheating number three
which is known as ambiguity and we will
talk about this in little of details. So
what is ribba?
Reeba is defined as
a one of the major sins in Islam.
Allahawel
has threatened
those who deal with ribba in the Quran
by saying oh you who believe fear Allah
and give up what remains due to you of
interest. If you should be believers, if
you believe and if you do not then be
informed of war against you from Allah
and his messenger Sam.
So ribba
is a major sin and allahel has waged war
against those who deal in ribba. But
it's not possible for you and I to know
what ribba is unless you have knowledge
unless you know the rulings so that you
would be in safety in security from
Allah's wrath. Now imagine
some people when we say to them Allah
and avoid ribba he thinks that ribba is
a beast or an animal that will attack
him. They don't know what ribba is. He
said, "Don't eat ribba." Said, "Well,
I'd like it." Well done. He doesn't know
what ribba is. So, what is ribba?
Linguistically, ribba is to increase.
So whatever there is increase and this
is mentioned in the Quran but you have
to know Arabic to relate ribba to
as mentioned in the Quran
in the Islamic terminology ribba is
identified as the increase in specific
things
because the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam in one hadith as we will see
later on inshallah mentioned Six
categories.
Gold, silver,
dates, barley, wheat, salt.
That's it. Is this all what is? No.
There's way much beyond that. But this
is when the Jewers and scholars
looked into what was specified.
And this is where they say ribba refers
to an increase in specific things. And
we will come to discuss this later on
inah.
And others say ribba basically is money
in exchange of money. Wealth in exchange
of
wealth with nothing in return. So
there's no work required. It's gold in
exchange of gold.
dollars in exchange of dollars and
there's no work involved.
Now ribba in Islam the ruling of it that
it is prohibited. It is haram and this
is according to the Quran to the sunnah
and to the consensus of all scholars. In
the Quran there are many verses.
Allahawel says but Allah has permitted
trade and he has forbidden interest that
is ribba. And allahel also says in the
Quran
that Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
destroys
interestb
and gives increase for charity.
Allahel also says, "Oh you who believe,
leave and avoid what is left of ribba."
If you believe, as we've mentioned in
the previous ayah, the prophet said in
the authentic hadith,
"Avoid the seven sins."
The prophet called it
Which means that the sins that doom a
person into hellfire. And when they
inquired what are these seven major sins
of prophet of Allah? He mentioned them
and he says consuming ribba. One of them
is to consume ribba.
And in a scary hadith, Jabir, may Allah
be pleased with him, said that the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
cursed the one who consumes ribba. Who's
the one who consumes ribba?
It's the it's the bank or the financial
institution.
The one who gives it and this is the
borrower. He has to give interest and ba
the two who witness it. There are two
good Samaritans not being paid but they
they just come to witness the signing of
the contract
and the one who writes it down and this
is the accountant or the cleric. The
prophet said, "They are all the same in
the curse of Allahel."
[Music]
Imagine that they're all being cursed
due to this
major sin. Even the two good Samaritans
who are not being paid, they're not be
having an a a percentage yet because
they've endorsed and entertained such a
major sin, this is their punishment with
Allahawel.
As for the consensus of scholars, Ibn
Kama said the whole um is unanimously
agreeing that ribba or usury is haram.
Im al-I
said that ribba has never been permitted
in any divinely revealed system of law.
All the scriptures of Allahawel
would condemn and prohibit reeba.
Allahawel says in the Quran and for
their taking of us ribba while they had
been forbidden from it and this is about
the Jews. Allah is saying why he cursed
them
because they're taking reeba user
while they had been denied and
prohibited and forbidden to do so. And
if you look around, you'll find that
those controlling
the financial sectors, the ribba, the
hedging, the um all these things dealing
with ambiguity and ribba and interests,
whether complex or simple.
Mainly they are Jews all over the world.
And Allahawel
knows best.
