Kind: captions Language: en [Music] Academy was fordul. [Music] The prophetat wasam used to love certain types of food. For example, everyone knows that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam loved the forleg of the lamb. So the shoulder of the lamb was beloved to the prophetatam. And Abu Hurra clearly says that once a bowl of and meat was set before the prophet wasam. So he reached out for the fleg which was part of the sheep that he liked most. And when a Jew woman plotted to assassinate the prophetam, she she invited him along with his friends to a sheep or to a ram that she uh cooked and she placed a lot of the poison in that fourleg because she was told that the prophetat wasam loved it the most. And the scholars say that this fourleg is the best of the meat of the lamb because it is the fastest to be cooked. So it can be cooked much faster than any part of the lamb and it is easier to chew and it's delicious. So the more it is further away from the unclean parts of the body of the animal, the sweeter it is. So that's why the neck and the fore leg of the animal is uh more delicious. And says it is without doubt that the neck of the sheep, the fore leg and the meat in it is lighter on the stomach and easier to digest. And this type of meat provides the three good characteristics of any kind of food. So, you know that he has a chapter or a book or a volume in his great book Zad Zad al- Mad and this is a beautiful uh collection of the prophet's biography and a lot of benefits of the things that you can learn from that in book he dedicated a volume to talk about what's medically good for the body and some of the herbal medicines that the prophet used to have. So he says as part of his observation that the fourleg meat provides three good characteristics of any kind of meat or food. What what are these three characteristics? Firstly, it's very beneficial and has a good impact on physical strength. Secondly, it's light on the stomach. So, it would not be difficult for you to digest. And that's the third point. It's easily digested. And when you have little of such beneficial food is far greater than having a lot of other types of food. Now the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also used to love squash which some people would include pumpkin or zucchini in it and most likely it's closer to be zucchini and uh uh the likes and may Allah be pleased with him narrates that a tailor from the ansar once invited the prophetam to a meal that he prepared. So the prophet wentat wasam and he served him a plate with where there is squash and zucchini on top of it. So Anna says, "I saw the prophetam seeking out that vegetable and eating it with his own hands, trying to pick it, which indicated that the prophet loved it." And it says, "And I've always loved squash since that day." their who heard this hadith from uh uh an he said I personally whenever they served me food whenever I was able I would include squash in it because of this hadith. What does this tell us? that even in worldly matters, this is not something related to religion or to prayer, to fasting or to zakat or forms of worship. It's related to something that the prophet loved as a human being. Even that anes may Allah be pleased with him would follow the steps the footsteps of the prophet wasallam in worldly matters just to indicate how much he loved the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam among the other foods that the prophet used to consume and love something we may feel a bit strange because we're not used to it the prophet used to love to eat dates It's mixed with butter and this was reported in Abi and Maja and authenticated by Albani. So having them together we're not used to it but this what the prophet used to do and scholars justified this because butter is warm and moist while dates are cold and dry. So by combining them each balance the other and this is the balance will happen in your stomach. It goes without saying that one of the most nutritious types of food on earth would be dates. It's easily available. It's cheap and it's highly in benefits. And the prophet said in an authentic hadith, "Oh, a house in which there are no dates is a house whose people will go hungry." And he repeated that again, emphasizing the importance of having dates in our homes. And we know the hadith, whoever eats first thing in the morning seven dates of awa uh dates of Medina, he will not be afflicted by black magic nor by poison. And said this is the best type of uh uh nourishing of fruits for the body. Dates would be considered a fruit, a nourishment, a medicine and a drink and sweet. And the prophetat wasallam loved sweet and cold drinks. So whatever was sweet, the prophet would love it sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Mother Aisha says that the drinks that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam liked best were those that were sweet and cold. Now remember they did not have refrigerators. So in the heat of the summer cold is relatively done but they had means of getting things a bit cooler than the normal temperature. And what do we mean by sweet and cold? Scholars said that there are three possibilities. One, sweet and cold means fresh water. So spring water, well water because it's deep down would be fresh and cold. And the prophet sallallaihi wasallam sometimes used to send because the water in wells around the Medina area were a bit salty. So he would send some of his companions for a day or two journey to bring him sweet uh a water that was not salted. Another meaning would be for cold and sweet. that water which was mixed with honey and this is one of the best things to do as states and this is not known except to the best best of doctors. So when you dilute a spoon or little of honey in water and you drink it, this is the best for your body. And there are miraculous benefits of this especially when people adhere to the fact that this is from the sunnah of the prophetatam. Drinking this cold water with honey is far greater than drinking other drinks that are sweetened by sugar. And the the the benefits are uh you cannot compare. The third interpretation of cold and sweet that the prophet sallallaihi wasallam also used to instruct them to leave overnight and soak raisins or dates in water. And this is called nabiv. And this water in which dates or raisins were soaked in to sweeten it. It's bene it's very beneficial and it gives you a lot of power and strength because of this sweetness and Abbas may Allah be pleased with him used to tell us the etiquette of doing this. So at the beginning of the night, the prophet would instruct them to soak these raisins or dates in water. So if it was morning, he would drink it and the night he would drink it and the following day he would drink it and the night he would drink it. But when it was the third day after it's being soaked, he would drink it until afternoon. If there was something remaining of it, he would give it to any of his servants or the likes to drink it. Otherwise, if there's no one to drink it, he would pour it out. And the reason is after 3 days, the possibility of it becoming intoxicant, being fermented is possible. So it has to be consumed in less than 3 days. 3 days and over it has to be thrown out. And this shows that the prophetat wasam knew the benefits of such drinks. Though he was not a physician but by what Allah has taught him and by his natural inclination he knew that the nutritions would be the best and the highest level if he were to do this. And some may argue and say how does the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam like to eat sweet things and part of not being attached to the world is not to look for such things. This is totally wrong. In Islam you're allowed to enjoy things. You're allowed to enjoy good food, good drinks, good clothes, good rides, and to live a nice life. Allah says, "Oh you who believe, do not prohibit the good things which Allah has made lawful to you and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like the transgressors." So if Allahawel gave us these things in halal fashion and told us to enjoy it, there's nothing wrong in that. And Allahel knows best. [Music] Academy. Fore! Foreign! Foreign! [Music]
