Alhamdulillah.
In the name of Allah, the compassion,
the merciful, all praise is due to
Allah. And may the peace and blessings
of Allah be upon his prophet Muhammad,
his family, his companions, and his
followers all until the day of
resurrection. I welcome you to this new
lesson, an episode from the series of
Taps level four at Zad Academy. And we
are dealing today with surah al this is
a Mccan surah revealed revealed before
al hijra. And in this surah, allahel
says after
The meaning of these verses is this.
Woo to every scorner and marker who
collects wealth and continuously counts
it. He thinks that he his wealth will
make him immortal. No, he will surely be
thrown into the crusher. And what can
make you know what? What is the crusher?
It is the fire of Allah eternally fueled
with mounts directed at the hearts.
Which mount directed
uh at the hearts? Indeed, hellfire will
be closed down upon them in extended
columns. These are ays 1 to nine from
surah al humah. These are all the ayats.
Nine ayats or or verses commentary. Now
who this is a threat and a warning of
calamity and intense punishment. Whale
that is always the word used for warning
and threatening in the glorious Quran to
every scorner and marker. This includes
everyone who like who is like that. The
scorner or lame
or sorry the scorner hames is one who
shames people and criticizes them by
means of uh gestures such as pulling a
face, pointing out a person's fault. And
the mocker or lame is the one who shames
people by means of words as mentioned in
the verse where allahel says uh
and among them are some who criticizes
or criticize
concerning the distribution of charity.
This is in surah.
Uh it was said to Abbas
who are the people whom Allah warns with
the word woo or whale. He said they are
the ones who go around spreading
malicious gossip causing division
between people who have who love one
another and seeking out people's worst
faults in order to expose them. He said
that in Arabic.
So that's why there's this warning
against them uh in the glorious Quran
and in the beginning of this surah
who collect wealth and continuously
count it. Meaning this person has no aim
except to accumulate wealth, count it
and exalt in it and has no desire to
spend it in charitable ways or uphold
ties with it uh of of kinship. This is
like the verse in which allahel says
and collected
wealth and hoarded. This is in surah al
he is uh described as counting because
his infatuation
with with wealth so that uh every time
he he goes to his money box he counts
it. He uh
looks at it although he knows that he
did not take anything from it. He did
not do it. And he's doing that day and
night. And u because of his intense love
of wealth he keeps counting it. He keeps
making sure that it is there. It is
safe. It is as he left it. U this is the
the idea. And uh uh uh in Arabic not
only he is like he said
uh no but he said
this form uh in in uh is mentioned as an
emphatic uh way or form that he is
counting it frequently time after time.
He thinks that his wealth
will make him immortal. He thinks that
the wealth he has accumulated
uh and has has been uh so stingy to
spend it will make him immortal in this
world because he will live there
forever. Actually no. This is a word of
rebuke and deterrence which conveys a
negation. In other words, the matter is
not as he thinks that his wealth will
make him immortal. He will surely be
thrown into the crusher. And look at the
expression. That is the day of
resurrection, the crusher. He will that
day meaning on the day of judgment, he
will be thrown into hellfire.
And uh uh uh the crusher or alma is uh
is one of the names of uh jahannam or
hell. Um also we have the word jahan or
gina uh sakar or hella
not laz it's in Arabic which is a raging
raging fire uh all and this is called a
crusher because it's uh it smashes
everything that is thrown in it
that is the word crush crusher. The word
is translated as throwing here
is thrown refers to flinging. Uh and
that is mostly used in relation to
throwing something that is disliked as
Allah says subhanahu wa'ta'ala in.
So we took him that is Fon and his
soldiers and threw them into the sea.
The wording uh uh likens them uh by way
of scorning
them to the paples that one may pick up
and fling aside. So it's just like neb
or uh throwing uh and and putting uh far
away. This appears in the form of a
question and what can make you know what
is the crusher.
So it is to emphasize how momentous and
significant it is that is the crusher.
It in other words what will make you
realize oh Muhammad what the crusher?
It's a question and then the answer it
is the fire of Allah eternally
fueled.
This is the answer. In other words, it
is the fire of Allah that is kindled for
the scorner and mocker and for those who
accumulate wealth and refuse to do good
with it.
The fire is described as belonging to
Allahawel in order to emphasize it's uh
how terrifying it is as for fire was
created by the one subhanah
it is
connected with Allah and belonging to
him subhanahu wa ta'ala who has the
power over anything he creates immense
things and big things which mounts uh
direct directed at the at the hearts
it penetrates deeply
uh so that it is its pain and heat reach
the heart because it is so immense that
is uh the description of this hellfire
indeed hellfire will be closed upon them
this is uh like closed locked on them.
And and look at this expression in
external in extended columns that is uh
long columns extended in all directions.
So there is no way for them to escape
and no way for them to come out as
allahel says in
every time they wish to emerge from it.
It they they will uh they will be
returned to it while it is said to them.
Taste the punishment of the fire which
you uh used to deny.
One of the
said what is the what is meant by hell
being closed down upon them is that we
seek refuge with allahel subhanahu wa
ta'ala is is that the punishment will be
uh continuing ongoing and there is no
hope of escape from it like prisoners
put inside a prison and the punishment
is intense And uh it keeps so this is
like a depiction to enable people to
envisage the um immense and intense
punishment by describing something with
which people are familiar which is they
know that people get into prisons and
they will be put uh behind bars. But the
reality of the punishment of fire is far
worse than any kind of punishment and
suffering that is known to man. Subhan
Allah. Yes. only to make the the the uh
image and the picture uh close to the
understanding of the human being. What
do we learn from this uh this surah?
Allahel describes these people in the
surah not only for uh reciting it
because generally the glorious Quran was
revealed or yes to to recite but also to
uh avoid uh the warnings in the glorious
Quran and to obey the commandments in
the glorious Quran. And here allahel
is giving us these verses to be aware of
uh of of acquiring these blames worthy
characteristics. Um which is basically
to shaming people with uh words or
gestures and being so taken to
accumulate wealth um and and and not to
spend it in the right way thinking that
this will make a person immortal and and
and will not die. This is uh so that we
will know that whoever is like this the
reququidd for them will be fire which is
as Allah described as the crusher and it
will reach uh people's hearts and will
be closed upon them in extended columns.
So may Allah forbid us uh from from
having such a punishment on the day of
judgment and not to be falling into
actions like this or these uh mockery
and uh and scorning. Uh the form of the
words translated huma and lumiza as
corner and marker uh indicates that the
the uh doer of these actions is referred
to one of whom these actions have been
have become a habit.
It's just like like he's doing it uh as
as you say h and lame uh
rather than than to say ham is and lame
but rather the word is is really
expressing uh this uh uh often repeated
uh work or action that it becomes a
habit for them. Coming to activities uh
complete the following sentences. the
scorer or Hames is the one who shames
people such as pulling a face with
gestures or with gestures such as uh
pointing out uh uh a person's uh faults
and uh the marker or lame is the one who
criticize people with words as mentioned
in the verse
and among them those who um criticize
uh you
in in the distribution of charity or
regarding the the distribution of
charity. Uh the crusher alma is one of
the names of hellf fire. It is called
because it crushes people and smashes
everything that is thrown into it. And
the word he will surely be thrown into
um the crusher indicates that the people
of hell are despised. Explain why
they're despised. Well, they are
despised because they thought they will
be um uh their wealth will make them
immortal and that they were uh involved
in scorning and mockery and they uh they
will not they will be thrown then as a
result they will be thrown into hell and
Allah does not care about whatever they
collected and whatever they did and and
even as a result of their mockery and
scoring they will be in hellfire. Now
the surah addresses some social uh and
moral problems. Write down some
solutions to the problems based on what
you have learned from the surah uh in no
more than three lines. Well, we can we
can always say that thinking and
imagining uh the uh punishment of these
actions and staying away from uh uh
people who are involved in in such
problems. also uh warning people who do
these things of the requir uh on the day
of judgment. These are some of the
things that we can we can uh uh do in
order to stay away from these terrible
uh blamesworthy actions and to stay from
their punishment on the day of judgment.
This brings us to the end of today's
