Alhamdulillah.
In the name of Allah, the compassion,
the merciful. All praise is due to
Allah. And may the peace and blessings
of Allah be upon his prophet Muhammad,
his family, his companions, and his
followers all until the day of
resurrection. This is uh the uh new
lesson and new uh episode from the
series of taps level four at Zed
Academy. And today we are dealing with
surah Qur which is a mecca surah
revealed before alra. In this surah,
Allah says the following after
the meaning of these ays is the
following. Allahel says um the meaning
of which for the blessings we have
bestowed upon Quraysh the blessing of
their regular journeys winter and
summer. Let them worship the Lord of
this house who has fed them saving them
from hunger and made them safe saving
them from fear. These are four ayas or
verses surah
where this surah actually when you come
to uh the connection to the surah before
that is connected to the surah of alil
the elephant. It was connected because
um it it is basically addressing the
blessings and highlights the uh mercies
and and blessings uh that allahel
bestowed upon the people of Mecca and
how he dealt with the companions of the
elephant who headed towards Mecca to
destroy the Kaa. In this surah, Allah
highlights another great blessing that
he bestowed upon the people of Mecca. He
actually fed them from hunger and made
them safe from um insecurity and fear.
uh for the blessings
we have bestowed upon.
This is
that is for bringing them together and
causing them all to reside in their safe
land and for blessings uh for the
blessings of their traveling safely in
winter and summer. Uh Allah begins the
surah in a brilliant way. This is not a
normal way to start but this is the
style of the glorious Quran starting by
mentioning the blessing that they
enjoyed.
It is like it what is meant is so let
them worship the lord of this house
because he has granted them safety
because of his own blessings and safety
and jour in their journeys when they are
traveling and when they are home with
their people and are not traveling. So
whether they are traveling or staying
home, Allah has blessed them with safety
and security and nourishment and and
giving them uh provision. So uh this is
again another blessing and a mention of
uh the great uh blessings Allah
gave the great security was granted to
them when they were traveling and when
they stayed at home as allahel said uh
elsewhere he's mentioned this in the
glorious Quran another place where he
said in
Have they not uh seen that we made Mecca
a safe sanctuary while people are being
snatched away all around them? Yes
indeed. Mecca was a safe place and the
people of Quresh were held in high
esteem and they came from Quraysh. Now
what is Quraysh? Is a nickname uh of the
ancestor or the Jed from whom many
tribes and clans were descended. His
real name was
Malikbana.
that his name Malik but his nickname was
the blessings of their regular journey
winter and summer. Uh this is describing
the blessing that Allah bestowed upon
where he mentioned their own to it will
save. So their their journey to uh uh
Yemen in the wintertime and to Shem or
uh greater Syria in in the in the summer
looking after bringing merchandise to
Mecca and selling it and and and and
Allah made made it safe for them to go
back and forth through Mecca. Although
other people were snatched uh away from
around Mecca and on the way on these on
these uh on journeys like this, this
serves to emphasize the meaning that is
being conveyed so that it will be
instilled in the listener's mind. uh uh
the blessings again allahel says the
blessing um in in this uh another
example is that appears elsewhere in the
Quran uh uh where he said
so actually the repetition of the word
is to emphasize uh this word and the
mercies because is is is the mercies and
the bounties is given to to just like
Allah says in the glorious Quran in
where uh Ham was saying or he said
was saying that to Ham. He said
that I might reach the ways. What are
these? He said
the ways into the heaven. So he wanted
to climb and and go to to the heaven to
up in the sky to find uh the lord of
musatam.
Let them worship the lord of this house.
That is because of this immense
blessings. It becomes incumbent upon
them to worship allahel. And he said
that because he allahel um wanted
Quraysh to submit and to accept the call
of Islam so that other Arabs will follow
because they are leaders in the in the
in the Arabic uh nation at that time and
they and and the prophet sallallaihi
wasallam was among them and and if they
would believe in him and they would
accept his message you know obviously
many Arabs would come into into this and
this is what exactly what happened after
he conquered Mecca and and all of the
Arabian tribes came to the prophetatam
submitting to Islam and accepting his
message. Um now
what is a worship which means humbling
oneself before allahel out of love and
veneration.
So out of love of allahel and veneration
to him subhanah waala the lord of this
house
means the lord of the holya allahel
described it as belonging to him
he is the of and it's also mentioned in
some other suras like inah allahel says
He's saying that to Ibraimatam.
And purify my house for those who
perform taw and those who stand in
prayer and those who bow and prostrate.
So he made the house belonging to him.
Subhanah wa tala. Here the house is
mentioned in conjunction with the
mention of Allah as lord as he says
subhanahu wa ta'ala the role of this
house by way of honoring the house and
of course highlighting its lofty status.
Yes indeed and who has uh fed them
meaning
uh saving them from hunger and made them
safe saving them from fear. Allahel is
giving them the blessings apparent and
hidden. Well, how is it apparent and
hidden? Well, feeding them and uh saving
them from hunger uh was protecting them
from destruction due to an invisible
that is hidden uh cause because people
may die out of hunger and uh it's inside
it's something hidden because they don't
have enough food in their stomach
therefore or they are thirsty uh they
will they will they die and making them
safe um and saving them from fear was
protecting them from destruction due to
a visible cause of course because if
they are fearful of enemies they see the
enemies the enemies would hurt them
would uh put them to uh destruction and
so on. So Allah saved them as from both
the hidden and the apparent the the
invisible and the visible as well. So
allahel reminds them of this blessing.
The most secure place in in earth is
Mecca. Yes, Mecca is the safest and
supposed to be the safest because look
at this protection by Allah. Its trees
are not to be cut down and the grass not
to be cut and its lost property not to
be uh picked up and its game not to be
hunted and no blood is to be shed shed
in it. So Mecca is a safe place. When
you go to Mecca, you're supposed to be
uh safe because Allah makes that a
sanctuary,
a a safe sanctuary for people. The
entire surah is a reminder to of the
blessings that allahel bestowed upon
them by causing them to reside in the
vicinity uh of this house and saving
them from fear and saving them from
hunger. what we learn uh about the
surah. Well, first allahel commanded to
affirm that allahel alone is the lord.
So this is to show them
and if he's the rub, he's the creator,
he's the church, he's the sustainer,
obviously they should worship him
subhanahu wa ta'ala. So these are the
blessings uh bestowed upon them by
enabling them to travel in the land and
to go uh with with no fear and to
indulge in trade in their two two
journeys uh to Yemen and Syria and no
fear in any raid or attack against them.
Also allahel made them safe from famine
from alju
because
uh well they are uh of the well-
entrenched high esteem in which the
Arabs held them because the Arabs then
said they are uh the dwellers of the
sanctuary they are the custodians of the
cabba and therefore uh they put them in
a high esteem and that's a privilege for
them. They should thank allahel for it
and worship him subhanahu wa'ta'ala. Now
coming to the activities what is the
connection between surah and surah al we
already mentioned the connection because
alil comes first and then uh
both suras and and chapters talk about
the uh blessings uh uh of Allah upon
Quraysh. So he kept them and preserved
them from uh the destruction of the
Cabba and the uh companions of the of
the elephant and also he gave them
security and preserve them for
destruction by famine and from the uh
fear of enemies uh whether they are in
Mecca or they are on journeys in the
winter and the summer. Uh secondly, who
has fed them saving them from hunger and
made them safe uh saving them from fear.
The verse highlights two blessings. one
visible and the other hidden. Explain
that. We already explained that uh very
uh uh recently. We said the visible is
fear of their enemies destruction and
invisible is fear of uh hunger's
destruction. List three lessons that we
um we learn from this surah. Well, first
uh the uh command of allahel to to uh
unify allahel single them out in worship
as he is the he is the one who takes who
took care of them gave them all these
blessings of security and and and and uh
and fed them from hunger and saved them
from destruction. He also saved them
from uh any fear uh where he made them
held high uh uh in in the in the hearts
of the Arabs because they are the
dwellers of the sanctuary and they are
the protectors of the Cabba. And also uh
having security and nourishment and
provision I is is one of the great
blessings upon people. So if people are
enjoying that, they should worship Allah
and thank him for what he what he gave
them. So these are the lessons that we
we learn. This brings us to the end of
our lesson for today. Until the coming
lesson, I leave you with Allah's care
and protection.
