Alhamdulillah.
The prophet sallallah.aihi wasallam was
a human being which meant that he loved
things like we do and he hated and
resented things like we do. However, the
prophet's hatred of things is not like
us for personal gain
or for something that is in our DNA.
Rather, the prophet's resentment and
hatred of things was for the sake of
Allahawel.
Mother Aisha says the prophet
sallall.aii Wasam
did not hate any kind of attitude or
characteristic more than lying.
And a person
may
say a lie in front of the prophetat
wasam that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam would resent that and keep
resenting it until the man who said that
lie would repent and show remorse.
So this highlights that the prophetat
wasam
would discipline the people with showing
them that he resented this so that they
would not do it again. In another
hadith, the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam if he witnessed one of his his
own household saying a lie, he would
not address or talk or deal with that
individual until he shows remorse and
repents to Allahawel.
The prophet said in an authentic hadith
sallallahu alaihi wasallam that lying
leads to evildoing
and evildoing
leads to hellfire
and a person would continue to lie until
he is recorded at the sight of Allah as
a liar.
Now lying is not
something that we endorse or love.
Unfortunately,
a lot of us may resort to it to solve a
problem that they don't want to face.
Omar says, "May Allah be pleased with
him."
You would never find a believer
lying.
A believer doesn't lie. It goes against
his belief,
his truth.
However,
may Allah be pleased with her says that
I heard the prophet sayatam,
a liar
is not the person who
cultivates goodness
when he goes between two fighting
factions or individuals and say good
things so that he would make Amend.
So yes, he may say things that are not
truthful. Oh, I heard that individual
who you're fighting with say very good
things about you. And he says that
you're so generous, you're so uh uh um
truthful. Had it not been for Shan, he
would have taken you as a best friend.
And he goes to the other guy and say the
same so that he would mend what was ever
between them.
Lying is also permissible as the prophet
saidatam
in three cases in wars. So you have to
lie to the enemy so that you would
defeat them and when mending and and and
fixing
what was broken between
factions that are fighting and having
disputes. Thirdly,
when a man lies to gain the love of his
uh uh wife or when a wife lies to her
husband to gain his love. So as when she
compliments how he looks and the likes
and generally speaking lying is not
prohibited for itself but rather for the
bad consequences that may result
afterwards. And if lying was going to
cause
or was going to lead to something
beneficial, then it becomes permissible.
For example,
the enemy come to your house
where someone they're
after
and they want to harm is hiding.
So when they ask you, "Is so and so
here? Have you seen him?" If you say,
"I'm not going to lie. Yes, he's inside.
He's in the basement. He's hiding.
They're going to take him, abduct him
and kill him.
So here lying is the lesser of the two
evils and it is recommended for you to
lie in order to save a life. The
prophetat wasallam also
hated
bad attitude.
And what is meant by bad attitude is to
have something that people hate and you
do not want others to deal with you with
such an attitude
which such evil conduct
or character such as oppression
such as envy such as cheating such as
showing off, such as
boasting about things you do, such as
laziness,
being stingy, lying, arrogance, pride.
All of these bad attitudes the prophet
sallallaihi wasallam
disliked and did not endorse or like to
see. And by default the prophet did not
have any of those. Sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. He also sallallahu alaihi
wasallam disliked
superstition.
In Arabic it's called
and superstition
is a feeling
a person finds in his heart that would
deter him from
moving forward or doing something. It's
a negative feeling.
And Muawi
said to the prophetam, "Oh prophet of
Allah,
I've just reverted to Islam,
but among us there are men who are
superstitious.
They're so superstitious
that they may
be deterred from moving forward. So the
prophet said that is something they find
in themselves.
It should not deter them. It should not
stop them.
And Abu Hurra
narrates, may Allah be pleased with him,
that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam hated superstition.
And why is that? Because when you're
superstitious,
you usually think negatively of what's
going to happen. You think negatively of
the outcome which only Allahel controls.
But when you are superstitious
of a person, of a phrase you heard, of
an object you you had seen, of a street,
of a particular day or month or time of
the day. All of this means that you're
thinking negatively of Allahawel.
Abdah, may Allah be pleased with him
said in an authentic hadith, the prophet
said,
Believing in superstition
is shik.
And whoever is deterred from doing
something he was going to do because of
superstition then he has committed shik.
And to resolve this you say
and the prophet also sallallahu alaihi
wasallam hated
things that had a bad smell such as
garlic
and onions. And the prophet told us
when he was presented with food and he
did not eat from its
may Allah be pleased with him asked the
prophet is it haram? The prophet said no
but there is garlic in it. So the
prophet indicated that it is not haram
but rather because I do not like the
smell. In another narration, the prophet
saidatam, I am not like you. I speak to
someone you don't speak to. That is the
angels.
Gibrel comes and speaks to me. So I
don't want him to find any offensive
smell coming out of my mouth. However,
garlic and onions are
beneficial plants and some find them
delicious to eat. and it's totally
halal.
However, one has to avoid eating them if
he's going to go to the masid afterwards
and the worshippers would be offended by
the smell coming from his mouth. The
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also
hated
or disliked hot drinks.
Unlike what we do today, we enjoy
drinking a hot cup of tea, a hot cup of
coffee.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
liked what was cold and sweet. And
again, this does not mean you're not
allowed to drink hot things. However,
to hurt yourself, as some people do when
they drink it in a quick fashion and may
burn themselves,
that is not recommended. And the prophet
sallall alaihi wasallam would leave
things until they cool down and they
become natural for a person to consume.
