[Music] The woman part of the prophet's humbleness sallallahu alaihi wasallam he was not a tyrant he was not a king he was a man down to earth though he was the most influential the most powerful and the most important human being ever to be witnessed in history. Nevertheless, he was a person that was humble, that was down to earth to the extent that he hated it. If he were to come and people would stand up for him. Nowadays, we see this as a trend. When a dignitary come, when a president, a king enters a hall, everybody stands up. This is not permissible. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was the most beloved person to the companions. Nevertheless, an may Allah be pleased with him says they did not love anyone more than the prophet sallallaihi wasallam. Yet whenever he came, they would never stand up for him because they knew that he hated it. And that was because he was humble and he was showing humility to Allahawel. And the scholars differed in the ruling on standing up for someone who's coming in. So standing up is divided into three types. One of them is to be sitting and everybody else is standing next to you like the tyrants do. Those who have arrogance and pride in them. So you get a president or you get someone uh uh of an official in the government. He sits in his throne or crown on or his chair while people standing next to him whenever he wants something he just addresses it and they come to his assistance. No, this is prohibited to the extent that the prophet once wasallam was sick and had to pray sitting down leading the congregation and the companions were standing up. They were in prayer. So the prophet pointed to them and ordered them to sit down in salat. And after he concluded his prayer, he looked at us and said, "You almost were going to do what the Persians and the Bzantians do with their kings when they stand up while their kings are sitting down. Do not do that. and take your imams and follow their lead. If your imam prays sitting down, all of you pray sitting down. And if he prays standing up, you all pray standing up. And this hadith was reported by Imam Muslim. And yes, I have to admit there are among us here in Arabia because it's a cultural thing that if someone comes to the gathering and you don't stand up for him, he is negatively touched and he feels bad about it and he feels as if he was offended. Ed and this is to him considered as an insult. The same thing that happens in some schools when the teacher comes everybody stands up and this is definitely not in accordance to the sunnah of the prophetam or to Islam. I do agree. If someone I know for certain that will be offended by it and feel insulted and may hold a grudge to do the lesser of the two evils, I do recommend that you stand up so that you do not cause any problems. Though the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said to that person who is offended when people don't stand up for him. The prophet said in an authentic hadithatam whoever likes to see the people standing up for him when he comes in let him assume his seat in hellfire. The prophet is warning us if you have this feeling deep down in your heart then assume your seat take your seat in hellfire because on the day of judgment this is what will happen to you. So this is number one those who stand while the others are sitting and they enjoy this. Number two is that you stand up for people when they come in. And this is not an issue. It was done at the time of the prophetatam. Whenever Fatima, the daughter of the prophet entered, the prophet used to stand up for her, greet her, kiss her between her eyes and make her sit at his own place. And May Allah be pleased with him. When Kabib Malik entered the gathering of the prophetam after 50 days of being boycotted by the Muslims and then his repentance came from the heavens when he came in stood up for him. Likewise when he was injured and came to give his verdict in the prophet said to the ansar stand up and go to your master meaning to help him and assist him to come in. All of this is permissible in Islam. And again the third case is you stand up like others when you see a person not to glorify him or to praise him rather because this is something uh um out of the customs or because that individual likes it. This is not recommended and it can be prohibited if the individual finds it in him that it is fine. This is something we should avoid because this is what the prophet avoided. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam also disliked people walking behind him. In the hadith when Abu Bakr migrated with the prophetat wasam he used to walk in front of him sometimes behind him sometimes to his left sometimes to his right and the prophet said Abu Bakr what are you doing and the Abu Bakr replied oh prophet of Allah I remember that there's a posy running behind us pursuing us so I walk behind behind you to protect you. Then I remember there are there might be spies watching and navigating the routes. So I walk in front of you. Then I remember that they might may come from the right or from the left. So I keep on shifting trying to protect you. However, Abdah later on said, may Allah be pleased with him and with his father, the prophet did not like people walking behind him. Rather, he liked them to walk to his right or to his left. He did not like to walk in front of people. That's why he did not like people to walk behind him because that would have been a way of showing his humbleness and how down to earth he was because when you walk in the front and people behind you, this may gives you a feeling of arrogance rather. It's best that you walk at the back. You can monitor your companions. you can see what they're doing so that you can point out to them whatever wrong things they are doing. And Jabber said the prophet would walk behind his companions leaving his back to the angels to protect him. That of course was before allahel. Uh and this also if I remember correctly, a prophetam was once in expedition and everybody was taking their place sitting and relaxing and um trying to gain their powers again when the prophet went under a tree, hanged his sword on one of its branches and while the prophet wasallam was sitting and relaxing there were lying down. A man came while he was asleep, took his sword. The prophet said, "I woke up and I found him in front of me." So the man said with the sword over my head, who is going to prevent you from me? Who's going to protect you from me? And the prophet calmly said, "Allah." The man was shocked. So he repeated again, "Who's going to protect you from me?" And the prophet said, "Allah." And the sword fell. And here he is sitting and he could not do anything. And this is a sign and a proof of the prophet's reliance. and dependence on allahel for protection and he does not need anyone's protection yet he used to may or may took the means by seeking protection as Allah ordered him to do though allahel has protected him and one of the means of Allah's protection is by his companions uh um taking watch over him like that.
