Alhamdulillah.
My dear students, welcome to the fourth
session in the fourth level of the
prophetic nobel hadith. Today inshallah
we'll study hadith number three because
the first hadith we covered it in two
consecutive sessions. So this is the
fourth session but we'll be studying
hadith number three. It is narrated by a
companion. Maybe you will hear his name
for the first time.
And I'm saying because he and his father
were both companions. So let's learn the
hadith first. He narrated that the
messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wasallam may the greatest peace and
blessings be upon him said
righteousness is good manners.
What about the sin? A sin is that which
you feel uneasy about and you don't like
people to find out about it. The hadith
is a sound hadith and it is collected by
im Muslim in his sound collection. And
now
may Allah be pleased with him
and he was very keen to seek knowledge.
He said, "I stayed in Medina with the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam for
one year and nothing prevented me for
shifting in and migrating completely
accepted that I wanted to ask questions
and Allah commanded a believers
which means wait until Allah and his
messenger reveal to you an answer to
your questions. Wait, do not take the
initiative and do not go ahead of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam by
asking questions. Uh it is something
very interesting that most of you may
not know about it's
paternal aunt got married to the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
Yep. But we never heard about her. True.
Because she was not one of the mothers
of the believers. How come? Because
something happened that before
consumating the marriage the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam released her.
So she never officially married the
prophet wasallam in a sense that he did
not consumate marriage with her. So she
wasn't one of the mothers of the
believers. May Allah be pleased with all
the companions of the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam.
This hadith brothers and sisters shows
us
And he was given the most precise
speech,
one word, one phrase to be explained in
a whole volume.
What is albe is? Is an Arabic word which
is very comprehensive that covers and
includes all types of good acts whether
in worship or in dealing with people or
dealing with Allah the Almighty.
Everything about goodness is
in the Quran. Allah Almighty says
so covered belief articles of faith and
good acts the prayers the fasting giving
in a charity upholding the ties of
kinship saying what is good enjoining
what is good and forbidding what is evil
it's amazing that is
while or good attitude is whether that
it is with Allah or with the servants of
Allah and with regards to the sin he
said what makes you feel uneasy
anything even when people say everybody
is doing it but you don't feel good
about it that's a sign that your heart
is still sound of course that is not to
address people with dead hearts because
it will not make any difference with
them and also you don't like people to
find out about it so these are two signs
to determine what is ascent. In brief,
brothers and sisters and
give us a very valuable advice of uh in
in the hadith of
may Allah be pleased with him and his
father. What is what is righteousness?
What is piety is to be well-mannered
whether with Allah or with the servants
of Allah. Let them be your loved ones,
family members, spouse and kids,
parents, relatives, siblings, uh or uh
neighbors or co-workers or even enemies.
And
when the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam said that
so there are two markers
indicators that this act is a sin.
Number one that you feel uneasy and
hesitant in your heart to do it. Even
when people say, "Well, everybody does
it." But, you know, you don't feel good
about it. You feel like, you know, it's
embarrassing to do it. And that is the
second sign that you don't want people
to see you doing it. Like what?
You live in a Muslim country and you
would never drink. Alhamdulillah. You
would never smoke. Alhamdulillah.
Your wife is wearing full hijab.
Alhamdulillah. She's even covering her
face. Oh, let's go to the UK. Why you're
vacationing?
Weather is good there or to check it
out. So we go and we sit with friends.
They're drinking.
Shall we sit with them because we're not
drinking? I don't know. I don't have a
hadith. I need to ask the sheh. I don't
have a sheh around. Somebody says, "Hey
man, you don't have to worry about it.
As long as you're not drinking, it is
okay. You're sitting in a bar.
Everybody's drinking and you're not
drinking. How do you feel about No, I
don't feel good about it. What about if
somebody from your hometown happened to
see you there and take a snap of you and
post it? How would you feel about Oh my
goodness, that would be really
embarrassing. That is haram. You feel
uneasy about it. You feel that, you
know, I don't want people to see me in
this position. It's a sign that it is
haram.
That is in case you're confused. That is
in case nobody have told you
straightforward it is haram. We're
talking about the doubtful matters which
you're not sure in the regard. This
hadith is full of lessons despite the
fact it is very concise. It is very
short and brief but it is very eloquent.
As I said it may be explained in books.
The messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wasallam was given the the power of
concise speech.
So a couple words mashallah will say it
all.
Being well-mannered is a sign that
you're a righteous man. You're a good
person. You're loved by the almighty
Allah. The hadith encourages people to
develop good relations not only with
Allah but with others because if you're
manners are good then you are on the
righteous and the straight path.
When the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam said,
"The best of all of you is the one who's
good to his family, to his wife and his
kids at home because no one is seeing
them but his family. He's living with
them 24/7. So whatever he may conceal
outside or pretend to be somebody whom
he's not, he cannot do that at home. At
home, wife is happy with him. Kids love
him and appreciate him. Parents are very
pleased with him. Oh, this is a
righteous man in private as well as in
public. The prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam has said on the day of judgment
those who will have the closest seats
and will be the dearest to me in heaven
will be
who would have the best of attitude, the
best of manners. May Allah make it make
make us all among them. A mean. So
brothers and sisters, some of those uh
forms
which will show that you are a man who
is well-mannered, good attitude.
As the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam said, watching for the feeling
of others.
You would not do anything that you know
it might offend or hurt the feeling of
others that you say what is good or you
be quiet.
You would not offend others. Whenever
you get angry and you're capable to take
revenge, you suppress your anger because
Allah says that this is a sign of the
good doers in
he said
he added
you wanted Allah to love you and that's
why you suppress your anger. You pardon
people even though you're capable to
take revenge and punish those who hurt
you. forgive and pardon in order to be
forgiven and pardon. Refraining from
harming others, refraining from harming
others
also. Brothers and sisters, the believer
whose heart is pure and sound will be
able to detect what is sin through the
two characters,
the two sensors which we mentioned
earlier. You feel uneasy about it. You
don't want people to see you in that
position. But somebody with a dead heart
doesn't mind, doesn't even mind drinking
in front of people, walking out with a
woman who's half naked or fully naked.
Why? Because I don't care. So the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam is
addressing people who have sound hearts.
He's address is not addressing those
whose hearts are already dead. Subhan
Allah. The prophet sallallah.aihi
wasallam was the best of manners and he
said
I have been sent exclusively to perfect
good manners through what? Believing in
Allah and in the last day.
Let whoever believe in Allah and the
last day to say what is good or be quiet
to be good to his neighbors to honor his
neighbors to be generous to his guests
and so on.
Let whoever believe in Allah and the
last day not to sit on the same table
where people are drinking or committing
sins especially major sins. So we're
addressing people who truly believe in
Allah and fear meeting him on the day of
judgment with loads of bad deeds. The
believer hates for people to find out
about his sins while the non-believers
and the criminals would even brag about
their sins. And the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam said all my ummah will
be pardoned except those who brag about
their sins. What matters with regards to
Sharia and Islamic teachings is evidence
and proof. Not what is widespread and
common among some people that
you know everybody does it. Now you
should not be a blind follower. You
should ask is it something that the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
approved is it halal? Yes, enjoy it. And
if it is not, even if everyone is doing
it, I'm different.
