In the name of Allah, the compassion of
the merciful. All praise is due to
Allah. And may the peace and blessings
of Allah be upon his prophet Muhammad,
his family, his companions, and all of
his followers until the day of
reckoning. I welcome you to this new
episode and lesson from the series of
level four at Zad Academy. Today we are
dealing with surah al it's a meccan
surah revealed before al hijra. In this
allahel says the following afterman.
for
uh the meaning of these seven verses is
the following. Allahel says the meaning
of which have you not have you seen the
one who denies the recompense
for that is the one who drives away the
orphan and does not encourage the
feeding of the poor. So woo to those who
pray but who are heedless of their
prayers. They are they are those who
make sure of their deeds and withhold
simple assistance. Seven verses and this
is the commentary uh of the mufasin.
Have you seen the one who denies the
recompense? That is, oh Muhammad, have
you not seen uh uh the one who denies
rec uh reckoning and reququidd and
reward and punishment of Allahawel
and uh does not obey his commands and
does not uh observe his prohibitions.
For that is the one who drives away the
orphan.
This is the one who denies the
recompense.
uh is the one who drives away the orphan
and withholds his rights, mistreats him
and suppresses him. The word
uh
drives away
so the word is to drive away refers to
pushing someone uh away violently.
That's what they what they did. And this
is exactly what uh took place also in
another ayah in the glorious Quran in
that day they are thrust towards
that is that day they are thrust uh
towards the fire of hell.
with violent thrust or as as we say and
does not encourage the feeding of the
poor of of that's he does not feed him
himself and does not encourage uh others
to do it. So he is actually u denying
the reward and is stingy of his wealth.
That is
this ayah and these words denies, drives
away and encourage appear in the present
sense.
All of these three actually were done in
the in the present uh tense to indicate
that the actions are done repeatedly
by this person uh he persists in doing
them. So uh woo to those who pray but
who are heedless of their prayer. Whale
translated as woo. And we know that
whale here is a word of warning that
appears uh frequently in the glorious
Quran and doom and punishment on the day
of resurrection.
uh for those who yes they they they
should pray but have committed
themselves to prayer yet they're not
really doing it u they are actually
neglecting uh either neglecting it
altogether asbum
said or in the sense they are heedless
about their uh offering the prayer in
time uh and the time um ordained for
prayer uh in the Islamic teachings um
dinar said one of the said praise be to
Allah who said but uh woo to uh and uh
wooh who are heedless of their prayer he
did not who are heedless in their prayer
there is a difference because they are
heedless of the prayer they uh forget
about it or do not do it in time or they
do not they are heedless inside. If they
are if you're heedless inside the prayer
meaning
we forget about inside the salah and
that would be a terrible thing for those
people who pray but you know they may
forget inside the salah. Um in Sah
Muslim it is narrated that the messenger
of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said
this is the prayer of the hypocrite he
sits watching the sun until when it is
between the two sides of the head of
shan that is very low in the sky he gets
up and pecks pecks out four raas in
which he remembers Allah a little only a
And he said in in in the
those are uh those who make uh show of
their deeds.
So uh they they show off the people uh
when they when they pray or they show
off people everything that they do of
righteous deeds. And this is like the
verse in which Allah says um
And when they stand for prayer, they
stand lazily, showing themselves to the
people and not remembering Allah except
a little. the same meaning here in the
in the hadith and in the um in the ayah
here basically this ayah is is
so uh it's the support of the uh
that's why they pray but they pray in
such a way as they are very heedless
about it they care less about their
salah as as they do with other things in
Muslim It is narrated that the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam said Allahel
said I am the least in need of a
partner.
Whoever does any deed in which he
associates someone else with me,
I will reject him and his deed.
So of course Allah does not want and
does not accept any deed that anyone
associates um uh uh anyone or anything
with allahel in that deed. It should be
purely and sincerely for Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala and withhold simple asises.
So that is they do not worship the Lord
properly and do not show kindness to his
creation. So they're not good with
Allah. They're not good uh to Allah.
They're not good to people. Uh they do
not even lend something that could be
useful and helpful. They could then be
returned to them. Just like
and what is the word
is translated as simple as distance
because it comes from the word al
remember this the spelling a l dash m
apostrophe
n not no extra uh a a there so it should
be omitted. Now uh this means a little.
Is a little. It is a word that is used
to refer to things uh uh that people
lend to one another like uh buckets,
axes, cooking pots and the things that
no one would withhold normally like like
water and salt and you know these things
that neighbors would ask for eat you
know to take from from from others or to
be lent uh you know to them from from
these uh these neighbors. So uh even
that is not they're they're so stingy
not to uh not willing to help others
with um what is required of the
individual after reading the surah and
understanding what it weighs is to
examine himself. Does he uh have these
characteristics or not? If if yet
meaning that he has failed to pray
properly and he has been heedless about
it and has withheld good uh uh from
others, then he should repent and turn
back to allahel
because we should be careful not to fall
into this because these are terrible
things and of course re reading the
glorious Quran is not only uh meant to
be to recite the verses. Although this
is good to recite it and you should.
However, you should not only uh recite
it and does not uh apply it into your uh
your life but rather it should be uh
applied it should be put into practice.
This is the uh the
of of the prophetatam. Whenish
was asked about the character of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. She
said his character was alquran. In other
words, he uh his attitude and manners to
which he adhered were learned from the
Quran. So he put the Quran in practice.
Secondly, the heedlessness means
becoming careless about something which
you have prior knowledge. So they have
they have this they understand. But uh
in this verse heedlessness refers to
turning away from uh and deliberately
failing to do something by way of
disrespect and ridicule. Just like um in
in the glorious Quran another ayah in
allahel says
and you would forget what you associate
with him. So uh because that is uh you
would turn away from from them.
Similarly, the word uh
or heedlessness is used to refer to
turning away in um the verse in which
Allah says
because they denied uh our signs and
were heedless or
of them. This is in surah
and uh also allahel says in surah ununus
and those who are heedless
of our signs. So that is they turn away
from them. So the word is used to refer
to uh turning away and being you know
rejecting and and and not giving
attention to uh what they're supposed to
do. All right. Now coming to the
activities of this lesson explain the
meaning of the following words.
What is yad? You remember to drive away.
encourage
simple assistance. Quote the prophetic
hadith that matches the following. All
right. The verse in which Allah says who
are heedless of their prayer. We just
mentioned the hadith
that is the prayer of the hypocrite. and
you know the rest of the hadith and you
should go back to it and and learn it
more probably and I hope that you
memorize it as well. Uh the serious uh
nature of showing off
I'm the least interested in in in in
um and allahel does not accept and you
you can find this again which we uh
reviewed and and and and and read
together. The surah mentions four
examples of bad conduct. List them.
Well, four examples. Uh driving away the
the orphan. Uh not encouraging the
feeding of the poor, being heedless of
your prayer, withholding simple
assistance and good from people. So
these are four examples. There are
there's probably even more uh in that
surah. So we should be careful and we
should uh read it carefully in order to
understand more about this great surah
uh of al- mar. Uh this brings us to the
end of our lesson for today. Until the
coming lesson, I leave you with Allah's
care and protection.
