Alhamdulillah.
In the name of Allah, the compassion,
the merciful. All praise is due to
Allahawel.
And may the peace and blessings of Allah
be upon his prophet Muhammad, his
family, his companions, and all of his
followers until the day of resurrection.
I welcome you to this new and last
lesson and episode of the series of taps
level four at Zed Academy. And we are
dealing with the last surah in the
glorious Quran surah anas which is surah
revealed after the hijra of the prophet
sallallaham.
In this surah, Allah says the following
after
The meaning of these ayas is this. Say,
I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
the sovereign of mankind, the God of
mankind, from the evil of the retreating
whisperer who whispers evil into the
hearts of mankind from among the jin and
mankind. These are six ayas in the surah
surah anas where there is a a very uh
important
or seeking Allah's refuge and protection
uh by this surah and we already talked
about the virtues of the surah and what
it contains and when it's going to be
read. So there is no need to repeat
that. You'll find that in the previous
lesson before this regarding surah al
falak. Coming to the commentary first
say I seek refuge in the lord of
mankind. Allahel is the lord of mankind
and others. He's the lord of the angels,
the lord of the jin, the lord of the
heavens, the lord of the of the uh
earth, the lord of the sun, the lord of
the moon, the lord of everything. But
mankind was singled out here for mention
only because of a reason which we will
explain uh later on.
The sovereign of mankind meaning al-
Malik. Al- Malik the sovereign is al-
Malik uh which is the owner and ruler
and controller.
The god of mankind that is the one whom
people worship. He is the true only true
God who's worshiped um out and they
direct their worship uh to him out of
love and veneration to the exclusion of
all other things and other others. Uh
these are the three attributes of the
Lord. lordship
that is sovereignty or mul and then
divinity or so three things three
attributes that were given to the by in
in these in these uh three ayas in this
surah seeking refuge with the lord the
sovereign and the god requires one to
bear in mind the divine attributes that
are appropriate to uh warding off evil
in general and the evil of threatening
whisperer in particular
because this surah uh emphasizes the um
evil of the whisperer who's shan or any
bad thoughts that may may come into mind
from the evil of the retreating
whisperer waswasa waswasa is is like
whis whisperer and refers to speaking in
low voice. Alwas the whisperer who is
one of the one one of the names of shan
and uh he is called because he whispers
a great deal. That is his work. He
whispers into the hearts of people bad
ideas and and and asking them and
leading them to doing uh disobedience uh
and sins against Allah's uh uh
instructions. Subhanahu wa ta'ala
retreating.
He's retreating. He whispers but he
retreats. It refers to one who withdraws
or yaknus flees, turns away and runs
away. Um when allahel is mentioned so as
long as you mention Allah's name the
shaitan is
he retreats he cannot come and whisper
whisper into your heart um Allah
instructed one who seek refuge to seek
refuge in the lord the sovereign and god
of mankind and the evil of retreating
um uh the whisperer who is the devil who
is appointed to mle lead each person.
Also there are uh whisperers from among
the children of Adam meaning from among
humans. Um there is also a
companion who's from the jin the who
make shameful deeds fair seeming to him
and will uh not spare any effort to
corrupt them. So uh this is this is uh
an issue that needs to be brought into
attention as the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam it's soundly narrated uh
in Sah Muslim that the prophet wasallam
said there is no one among you but a
companion
from among the jin has been appointed
for him.
They said even you oh messenger of Allah
he said
even me but Allah help me against him
and he becomes Muslim so he only enjoins
me to do good.
So uh of course we have this or a
companion from among the jin with us and
again they work in whispering bad ideas
and corruptions into the minds and
hearts of of people to deceive them from
doing good and to commit themselves to
obedience of allahel who um who whispers
evil into the hearts of mankind and
makes evil fair seeming to them, showing
them showing to them in a in a good
light and encouraging them to do it and
makes good ill uh uh seeming to them and
discourage them from doing good. Meaning
they will show you the good as bad and
the bad as good and and therefore they
want to deceive uh the person and to
lead them into the disobedience of
allahel or not to doing uh an obedience
from among the jin and mankind. Uh this
verse explains that just as the one who
whispers into the hearts of mankind may
be from among the jin, it could also be
from among the humans as allahel says.
So uh and thus we have made for every
prophet an enemy devils from the uh
mankind and jin both they could be the
whisperers and the uh those who try to
deviate people would come either from
the jin or from the uh humans and they
are also
you could call them. So they are shayan
they are devils. Uh what we learn from
this surah is allahel is lord god and
sovereign of all creatures but mankind
are single
he's Allah lord and god and sovereign of
everyone of everything of all the
creation yet why would why did we did
Allah say
actually the reason is that a person
would feel he is close to in in the
context of seeking refu refuge and
protection as he is the the lord of all
humans of mankind then you feel like
he's closer to you also the whispers
uh may come from the jin or from the
sons of Adam as we already explained and
and and you can see that as as far as
shan and and and and the devil is
concerned it's it's very clear and we we
have seen that but as far As humans,
humans, they may be like like Shayan.
They they would come and whisper to
humans. Um they would come to a person
and try to inspire them to do evil
making it fair seeming to them until
they are convinced and they believe in
it and they act upon it. So they take
them into steps. They didn't come at
once but rather they take them into
steps. We already talked about number
three about the u how uh this surah
along with surah al and
alak how they are really helpful in
protecting a person especially before
going to sleep. You read them after uh
the obligatory prayer, but you also uh
blow into the the hands and read uh the
three suras and wipe over your body from
the head and uh down to the uh front of
the body and then the rest of as
whatever you could uh of the rest of the
body. This is this is important. The
prophet used to do it. uh and also you
uh recite this surah uh along with uh
the other suras uh like uh uh came in
the sunnah from the prophet sallallahu
alaihi
wasallam. All right, coming to the
activities. Uh, first this surah
mentions all three types of explain
that. Well, uh, yes, we talked about
sovereign is one of the names of allahel
subhanahu wa ta'ala and
which is the god of of mankind. So that
shows us. So we have the three
and
uh what is the difference between the
whispers of the jin and the whispers of
humans? We already talked about that and
we said uh it's hidden the vis invisible
is the whispers of shaitan. They would
come to your heart without seeing you
you seeing them uh see the shaitan.
However, they creep into the heart and
they try to uh deviate because they run
into the blood of the humans um into
into the into the body just like the the
blood uh or along with blood inside uh
the body. However, for humans, you can
see them in front of you. They would
come to you and and and make um good
look uh bad and they make bad look good
to you until they convince you and then
uh it becomes like u a habit for you or
or or an action. It turns into into
something uh action afterwards because
of the um deception and uh was west and
whispering that they they did uh to you.
So that is the difference between the
two um of jin and the humankind. This
brings us to the end of our uh lesson
for today and this brings us to the end
of this series of taps level four. And
with this we complete the uh curriculum
for taps for uh zed academy. May Allahel
accept from you. May he keep you on the
straight path. May he teach you more and
have let you increase your in knowledge
about his dean about all the subjects of
sunnah hadith uh and Arabic and so on in
order to become inshallah a student of
knowledge. May he accept your good
deeds. May he keep you on the straight
path. May he forgive us all and keep and
give us until we meet him when he's so
pleased with us.
