Kind: captions Language: en But Fore. The second type where transactions are prohibited in Islam as you remember the first type we said ribba. This is why transactions are haram. The second reason or type of transactions that are prohibited is related to deceit. And generally speaking, to deceive someone, to cheat someone is to convince him with something that is against what is truthful and honest. So as if you are hiding something or trying to camouflage it so that the buyer would not know of it because if he had known he would not have bought it from you. So you hide it. You deceive him. You cheat him. And deceit is a major sin in Islam. It is prohibited. And people do not like others to deceive them and cheat them. So how would you allow yourself to do that to others when you don't like it for yourself? This is a clear sign of lack of e. Allah says in woe to those who give less when weighing or measuring. When it's their turn to buy things, they make sure that they are exactly given what they're paying for. meaning that they are exactly ensuring for pound to pound, kilogram to kilogram that exact figure is correct because they're buying. However, when they sell, they try to scam the buyer by giving him less in weight and allahel condemn those who do such deceit with hell. The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam as per the hadith of Muslim once went to the market and he checks how the people deal. He is their tutor. He is their mentor. He is their teacher. So he saw a pile of food of grain of uh wheat or whatever. So he inserted his hand inside of that pile and he noticed that there was some sort of moist and wetness. So he said, "Oh owner of this food, what is this wetness?" He said, "Well, prophet of Allah, yesterday uh it rained, so it spoiled some of that food. So I turned it upside down so I would put the fresh food on top. It's like when you go to groceries or to the vegetable market and you find a big box of beautifully sorted fruit, strawberries, peaches and the likes. And on the top you find the big juicy nice looking fruit and you buy it. When you go home, you take the top layer and you find the rest on the bottom or underneath to be rotten and of bad quality. So when the man justified his action because of rain, the prophet was angered by that and he said then why didn't you not put it on top so that people would see it? And then he gave that warning. Whoever deceives is not of me. Whoever cheats is not of me. Those who deal in such types of transactions are not part of me. This is how Muslims are identified by worldwide. Whether they like it or not, whether the enemies of Islam like it or not, Muslims deal with Allah. And that is why they won't cheat you. They won't lie to you. They won't deceive you. If they do, then they're not real Muslims. And this is why you look at Indonesia, you look at Malaysia, not a single soldier set foot in these lands. Not a single Muslim soldiers set foot in these lands. However, they all converted to Islam. Why? Because when the traders from Arabia came and traded with them and they saw how honest and truthful they were, they acknowledged that this is their religion and they embraced it. Cheating or deceiving has many forms. It can be in transactions. It can be in marriages because marriage is a contract. It can be in all forms. So concealing a defect in an item is one of the forms of deceit. And how is that? People when they want to sell their car, what do they do? They take it to the car wash. They gave it a good polish. They put some special paint or uh uh things on the tires so it would shine. They clean the chromes. and they make it look as if it's brand new. Yet they know that it has problems in it. And they do this with the sole purpose of cheating people so that they would buy it without asking any questions or they would buy it thinking that it is a good deal. the seller were not revealing that oh the paint job is something that was done recent the car was involved in a huge accident. There is problems with the engine. The brakes are worn out. He knows all of this but he doesn't disclose it. This is deceit. A se another form of deceit would be to cheat in sizes or when weighing things. So you say that this is a 1 kilogram pack when it's actually 995 or 990. To you maybe you think that this is fine. the person buying it is not going to lose a lot, but I'm going to gain a huge amount of money when you see the amount that I'm selling. This is haram and this is something that Allah would hold you accountable for. Or when people tamper the scale or some people play with the adometer of the car. So, if it had 200,000 miles on it, they fix it as if it's only done 40,000 miles and the purchaser say, "Wow, that's a good deal. I'm going to buy the car." And so forth. Another form of deceit is in the quality itself. So when constructing buildings, when constructing bridges, when doing a job, even if you are a craftsman, a plumber, a carpenter, and you cheat in your craft that you're doing, this is also haram. And you know which quality is good and which what quality is bad from certain countries from certain people. You know they cheat they lie they deceive. And this is very unfortunate because the good guys would be also labeled as such due to their countrymen being known to deceive and to lie and not to be honest. Now sometimes and not sometimes actually a lot of the times shan messes up with our heads and he says to us I need to sell my car. So I would be exempted from accountability if I say to the man this is the car go and check it out. and he takes it to a mechanic and the mechanic tells him what's wrong with it. Though I know that there are other things in it that the mechanic may not detect. This is cheating, but I want to sell. And here is where we come to the fork of the road. Should I be honest and compromise the price or should I pretend to look the other way and get a better price? Sometimes people claim false statements that is so obvious thinking that that would exempt them. So if someone comes to buy buy my property and he says okay I like your property I like your house so how much you want for it and what are the defects in it so that I can know whether the price is reasonable or not. They said, "Well, this is a pile of sand. It's a pile of rubble. It's junk. It's nothing." If I'm selling a car, I said, "Well, this is the car you want to buy. Go for a test drive. Check it out. But this car doesn't go forward, doesn't go reverse, it doesn't turn right or left. It doesn't start. It has no batteries. It has no engine. It And I'm lying. And the guy knows I'm lying, but I'm saying these things just to exempt myself if he comes to me in the future and says, "Yeah, you sold me your car and this and that was defected in it." Said, "I told you it doesn't go forward, doesn't go backwards, it doesn't do anything. You cannot start it." You decided to buy it. This does not take you off the hook. Cheating is cheating. Deceiving is deceiving. It's a major sin. And Muslims don't do that. Academy. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech.
