Kind: captions Language: en for Fore and welcome back to the 15th edition in the fourth level of the noble prophetic Hadith. Alhamdulillah. Today inshallah we'll tackle hadith number 14 in this level. The hadith is narrated by a great companion namely Abdullahbnd may Allah be pleased with him and his father who said that the messenger of Allah may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him said there are four evil traits. Whoever possesses them is indeed a pure hypocrite. And whoever has one of these evil traits, then he has one of the evil traits of hypocrisy until he gives it up. Then he started explaining the four evil traits. Number one, whenever he is entrusted with something, he betrays. Whenever he speaks, he lies. Whenever he promises he breaks his promise, he or she and whenever whenever he argues, whenever he is having a disagreement with somebody, they he exceeds the limit and breaks all the boundaries. He resorts to evil. He lies about this person. He makes up stories and so and this is a sound hadith which is agreed upon its authenticity. Abdullahbn Omar may Allah be pleased with him and his father was a son of Omar and prophet Muhammad's brother-in-laws is a sister of Abdahbn Omar Kar he was a very special companion the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam admired him repeatedly and he was a great seeker of knowledge he attempted to attend the battle of bad with Muslims but the messenger of Allah peace be upon him returned him back because he was too young. But he started attending the battles and expeditions with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam own beginning from the battle of Alcand on the fifth year after the migration of prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. He lived after the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam for about 62 years and he sat to give fatwa for 60 consecutive years. He was a great fak and he was the last of the companions to die in Mecca on at the age of 73 uh on the on the year 73 after the migration of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam and may Allah be pleased with him he also lost his eyesight towards the end of his life with regards to the hadith itself and the evil traits let's begin with the defining the term na or hypocrisy linguistically and from an Islamic point of view. Linguistically, hypocrisy is taken for uh is taken from an Arabic word which is what is in English is a tunnel. Normally there is a desert small rodent which is called and in Arabic they call it jera. The small rodent in order to escape from predators they dig tunnels but with two entrances. One which is visible which is to deceive the predators and one which is concealed. They enter from and they end up in a safe place. So that's called because they show something different than what they conceal. They appear different than the reality. And that's why a person who displays faith and pretends to be a believer while he is disbeliever is given the title because of that similar to aler and what he does in the desert and so on. in its applied meaning or Islamically the term was not even known to the Arab before because to show that you are a believer and in reality you're not and the Arab before the advent of Islam they didn't really care about showing faith or not showing faith it was their cultural traditions predominantly and they were all pagans with the exception of few So 13 years in Mecca after the prophethood again there was not a single hypocrite only after the great conquest and the great vic of Badra which is 17 months after the migration on the second year after Hijra uh when the Muslims achieved great victory on the battle of Badr Abdullahbn Sal and his followers they were in hundreds they realized that they cannot defeat Islam by confronting Islam and Muslims. The best case scenario is to pretend to be Muslims so that they will become the enemy within. And they achieved a great success in harming Muslims by the way. But Allah the Almighty exposed them in every condition and showed Muslims and displayed all their plots in order to warn against them because they were not only at the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Hypocrisy is to last all the way until the day of judgment. So the evil traits and sallallahu alaihi wasallam said if a Muslim happens to possess any of them then he has some of the qualities evil qualities and traits of hypocrisy. If he possesses them all then he's a pure hypocrite. If he possesses one or two, he has some of the traits of hypocrisy until he gives it up, until he quits, encouraging Muslims to be well-mannered and to stay away from all of the evil traits of hypocrisy. In fact, that would lead us to recognize that there are two types of hypocrisy, my dear students. The first is major hypocrisy, which takes a person out of the fall of Islam. In fact, he never entered into Islam. When you see an undercover agent in any non-Muslim country coming to the Muslim community and pretending I like Islamah becoming Muslim to be an informant within to be able to enter the Islamic center, the Muslim community to hang around the im and to befriend the business owners to find out what do Muslims do in private in their Islamic community. He's a mafik. Mafik in what? In faith, in belief. He never accepted Islam. He never liked the Quran. He never believed that Muhammad is a prophet. He's like Abdullahbn with the same evil intention. And there is the second type. But the first type, of course, their fate on the day of judgment is even worse than the disbelievers. Yep. Inah chapter number four, the Almighty Allah says indeed the hypocrites on the day of judgment will be on the lowest depth of fire and you will not find any help or support for them. They will be in a level bel and the pharaoh and ham. Why? because they pretended to be Muslims and believers while in reality they are not. The second type of hypocrisy which the scholars refer to it as a minor hypocrisy. Minor hypocrisy because it doesn't take or it does not necessarily take the person out of the fold of Islam unless if he exceeds the limit and possesses all the traits of hypocrisy and he persists on doing so. When somebody lies a lot, he got some of the traits of hypocrisy. Somebody is known that he does not keep promise no matter what he says, no matter what he does. And people would never leave valuables with him because he betrays the ama. They would never share seekers with him because immediately he will post them on the social media, right? And they know that if they differ with him, he would try to discredit them by publishing or sharing bad news and also even fake news. So the person is a monaf in a sense he is a perpetrator. He's doing he's committing major sins. Those are major sins. But the hypocrisy itself is not a hypocrisy in belief. It will not make the person a disbeliever. It will make the person a believer who's committing major sins until he quits. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala guide us to what is best. So we learn from this hadith multiple lessons. My dear students, the first lesson that we learn from is the hadith contains a stern and a serious warning against those evil traits. Be careful when you speak. Speak the truth or be quiet. When you make a promise, make sure that you're capable to fulfill it. And when you differ with people, no problem, but peacefully. You know, you can just keep salam, keep minimum relationship, but to publish their secrets, to reveal their private matters, to expose them, that's a major sin. also with regards to uh you know revealing or betraying the amat or the trust and sallallahu alaihi wasallam said in in the hadith. Subhan Allah render trust back to the one who entrusted you with them and do not betray those who betrayed you. Don't say because they betrayed me, I betrayed them. Because they're kufuar, I betrayed them. No, you are a trustworthy person because you're a believer. Even if you're dealing with wicked or non-believer persons, the Almighty Allah instructed in chapter number four verse number 58. Indeed, Allah commands you to render back the trust to those to whom they belong. We also learned that the hadith warns against lying and sallallahu alaihi wasallam specifically mentioned that truthfulness truthfulness leads to righteousness. A righteousness leads to heaven. While a person will persist in speaking the truth until he becomes a truthful person and he will be recorded with Allah subhana wa ta'ala or a truthful person. On the other flip, lying leads to wickedness and wickedness leads to hellfire. And a person will continue to lie and lie and lie until he will be uh a liar and be recorded before Allah as a liar. Lying leads to hellfire. May Allah subhana ta protect us against that. With regards to breaking promises, he says sallallahu alaihi wasallam every betrayer and promise breaker there will be for him or her on the day of judgment a banner a sign on the day of judgment and it will be said this is the betrayal of so and so and this is a sound hadith no one wants to be exposed in front of all the creation of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and to be known as a or a betrayal When the person argues, when the person differs with others, it happens. No problem. Keep calm. Do not exceed the limits. If you know because you used to enter the house of this person, you know that he and his wife used to fight, he and his kids are having problems or he was in drugs and he is treated or he's epileptic. You start publishing everything. That's called forger wickedness indiffering with others and this is indeed a sign of hypocrisy. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect us against that. So if a person possesses any of these major sins which are labeled as minor hypocrisy because they're not in belief. Is he a believer or a disbeliever? He is a believer who's committing major sins but he is urged to repent and to restore his faith and restore good manners as the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam commanded. So um the four evil characteristics the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam mentioned in the hadith are absolutely forbidden and they are uh categorized as major sins despite the fact that we say this is a minor hypocrisy because it is not in belief. It is not something that who's pretending to be a Muslim while he is not. May Allah guide us to what is best and until next time. for me that
