Kind: captions Language: en for [Music] Fore [Music] and welcome back. Alhamdulillah. Today's edition is the 16th in the fourth level of the prophetic noble a hadith and today inshallah we'll get to study together hadith number 15 on two separate episodes. So the first episode in hadith number 15 is this episode is this episode inshallah. The hadith is narrated by the great companion Abu who narrated that the messenger of Allah may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him said do not envy one another. Do not artificially inflate prices. Do not hate one another. Do not forsake one another. Do not undercut one another. And oh slaves of Allah be brothers. The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim. He doesn't wrong him, let him down or despise him. Tawa, righteousness or piety is here. And he pointed may the gate peace and blessings be upon him to his chest three times. Piety is here. Piety is here. Piety is here. Then he added, may peace and blessings be upon him. It is sufficient evil for a man to look down on his Muslim brother. The whole of a Muslim is sacred to another Muslim. His blood, his wealth, and his honor. Let's begin with how the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said. By the way, this is a sound hadith which is collected by many collectors of hadith. But this particular version is collected by Imam Muslim and others as well. Uh the first prohibition in the hadith which is do not envy one another. Is there such thing called envy? Because we hear some people in the media say I don't believe in envy. What do you mean you don't believe in envy? Do you believe in Allah? I believe in Allah. Do you believe in the angels? I do believe in the angels. Have you seen them? No. So why do you believe in angels and jin and hereafter? Because Allah the almighty said so. Belief in the oneness of Allah in his presence in his lordship that he is the creator. He sent the messengers and revealed the books would require us to believe in the unseen which Allah the almighty have made it known to us. So you have made known to us uh the presence of the angels, the presence of the jin. He had made known to us that there is something called we recite in the Quran. That is chapter number 113 which is known as surah alak or the dawn. I seek refuge in the lord of the dawn from the evil of what he has created. And the last verse and from the evil of an envir whenever he envys. So there is or do they envy people for what Allah has given them out of his bounty. So envy is there. What is envy? What is hassad? Hassad or envy means wishing that somebody who is blessed with something and he feel that how come he is blessed with it. You wish that he would lose it. It will be taken away from him normally so that you will get it. And sometimes he would lose it even if you don't get it. It doesn't matter. Just to be happy to fulfill the wish that the person who's blessed, he got a nice car, a brand new car, a nice house that he would lose it any way or form or shape. Car accident, house is burned, it doesn't matter. From inside there is fire in his heart because he feels sad that some people have been blessed. Normally colleagues, co-workers, classmates who are doing very very well in education and unfortunately relatives and neighbors who are supposed to wish well for others, for their neighbors, for their family members. Unfortunately many uh envy them. What is this? They envy people for what Allah has given them out of his bounty. Hassad is a major sin and it is evil. Unfortunately, it may affect the person who's been envied negatively and that's why we have been taught how to protect ourselves against evil eye envy and hassid. How? Number one, by reciting on regular basis such as and by saying upon seeing something that pleases you which is yours. If you're happy with your house, you're happy with your kids' performance, you say that stemming from the lesson of and if it is something that belongs to others. Somebody bought a new car. He got oh wow wow how did he get this? Wow. Instead say mashallah because the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said to somebody who happened to envy another person was very healthy and he felt very sick upon being envied. He said he should have said Allah oh Allah bless him in it. So is it okay to wish to have something similar to what others have? It is perfectly okay. Okay. But what is not okay is to wish that they would lose it so that you will get it or they would lose it so that you and them will be even of not having the same. That is called and this is not permissible. It's a fire that devours the heart of the envir but it is not called in Arabic. Rather it's called literally they may call it but it means as the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam has said is forbidden except in two conditions. When you see somebody whom Allah bless with plenty of wealth and he dispenses his wealth in helping people assisting the poor taking care of the relatives spending and hal say I wish I was as rich as him in order to to do good deeds as much as he does. Okay. No problem. That's hassad in a good sense. Or somebody who recites the Quran with a melodious voice or who have studied the dean and he's teaching people to say mashallah I wish me or my son would be like him so that we can do the same good deed and teach people that too is okay brothers and sisters. The next prohibition is an what is anes or the price inflation? Do not artificially inflate prices. That is, and it means do not increase prices for one another artificially. What do you mean artificially? In simple and in brief, when somebody is selling an item and somebody is showing interest, he's in the marketplace and he wants to buy this phone. So he says, "How much is it?" He says, " $1,100." While he's thinking about it, somebody will pop up and point to the same phone, say, "Sir, how much is the phone?" He says, "1,100." Say, "I I'd like it. I want to take it." So he says, "Unfortunately, Mr. So and so is thinking about it. He's looking at it." Oh, no, no, I would pay even 50 bucks extra. I will pay $100 extra. and whether he actually wants to buy it or he's artificially making it up, making a deal with the seller in order to tempt and allure the candidate, the buyer in order to buy the phone and pay for it the current price right away. So this is called najes where the person is not actually interested to buy but he's artificially inflating the price in order to convince the person who's about to buy to buy without double thinking about it. That is forbidden as well. Then he also why because it leads to deceit, deception, mischief and later on when people find out about it, it causes discord. And bottom line when you study the hadith as a whole, you realize that it's all about blocking the means. Blocking the means which leads to hatred. Blocking the means which lead to excuse me, discord. blocking the means which may lead to causing problems in the entire community where people start hating each other for what they have done of deception to others type. So a nash is absolutely forbidden. Do not hate one another. Do not despise one another. Do not do anything which may stir up rank or hatred or discord. Hatred is something sometimes you don't have control over it. When you see somebody drinking, I hate what he's doing. But if the person repented, I start liking the same person. Okay? Do not do things which may lead to hatred and discord among your own selves. So after you used to be brothers, sisters and friends, something stupid that you did like you know you were talking about this person in his absence. The person who was listening to you shared with the person that you told about him. Do you think he will be happy with it? That would lead to hatred. You tricked a person in a trade or business or sale. You sold them something for overpric. while it's not worth that much that would lead to hatred. So when the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said do not hate one another meaning do not act upon the things which would lead to hating one another. Then he also said sallallahu alaihi wasallam and do not forsake one another. What is do not forsake one another? It may be understood as whenever you see one another due to discord, disagreement, an argument, you tend to give your back to the other person. Back in Arabic, the back in Arabic means so that's why I said do not forsake one another by turning your backs to each other, turning away from each other so that you don't have to say salam, you don't have to talk to him. He did you know and then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam when he said there is the uh physical and the literal sense of it and there is a metaphorical sense which is do not develop conflicting ideas and views which eventually would lead again to turning away from one another hating one another or cutting ties and severing relationship with one another do not undercut one another. That's another very interesting uh prohibition because a lot of people do sometimes on purpose and sometimes unintentionally. Somebody is buying an item and he finished the deal again will talk about the phone. Too many shops in the same street they sell phones. So somebody saw that you're buying a phone from his neighbor and you concluded the deal. So he asked you how much did you pay for it? So you said 1,100 said wow that's too much. I can give you the same for only 1,000 or you know what I have a better phone for the same price. So in this case you intend to take the business from another person. He's a competitor. But if it was before doing the deal and you're announcing your prices and people come to you and do not go to others, it's okay, you know. But when you allure a person to return the item, to cancel the deal with the seller that he sold you an item and he made the deal in order to buy the same from him with a different price. That is called undercutting one another and that two is forbidden for the same reason. Then finally the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam orders us by reminding us we are all the servants of Allah to be brothers to love one another for the sake of Allah. And he said every Muslim is sacred entirely. His wealth his money his life his honor and that should be protected. I will address this inshallah in the following session. And he emphasized that piety stems from the heart. If we learn these lessons and we believe in them and we tend to stay away from what the prophet have forbidden and adopt the beautiful manners that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam have instructed it stems from here and it reflects on our actions and behaviors. May Allah guide us to what is best. We'll continue next time. Until then, for [Music] me to be Foreign [Music]
