and welcome back.
Alhamdulillah.
My dear viewers, my dear students,
welcome to the 18th edition in the
fourth level of the Nobel Prophetic
Hadith. Today, inshallah, we're going to
study hadith number 16. And this hadith
will be divided between two sessions.
This session, the 18th, and the 19th,
inshallah.
Without any further ado, let's learn the
text of the hadith which is narrated by
the very famous companion Abu may Allah
be pleased with him who narrated that
the messenger of Allah may Allah's peace
and blessings be upon him said
indeed Allah is good and he doesn't
accept anything but what is good then he
added I mean the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam Allah Allah has enjoined
upon the believers similar to what he
enjoined upon the messengers. What did
he enjoin upon the messengers?
Read in
chapter number 23 verse number 21. Allah
the Almighty says,
"Oh the messengers, eat from the good
foods and do righteous deeds for I am
well aware of all that you do."
And then Allah the Almighty commanded
the believers in Bakar chapter number
two verse number 172.
Oh, who you believed, eat from the good
things which we have provided for you.
Then he mentioned a man who travels a
great deal and he is disheveled. His
hair is disheveled and he is dusty. He's
covered with dust. who raises his hands
to the heavens and says, "Oh Lord, oh
Lord, y' while his food is from haram,
his drink is from haram." All lawful
means and his clothes are bought from
unlawful earning haram. And he has been
nourished with haram. So how can he
receive a response? How does he expect
his supplication to be answered? This
hadith is a very famous hadith and it is
collected by Imam Muslim. So it's a
sound hadith. One thing at a time we
need to learn in this uh session
inshallah the meaning of every segment
of the hadith along with the overall
meaning of the hadith. And then
inshallah next session we'll come to
learn about the lessons learned and
benefited from the hadith. Allah is
good. Goodness all belongs to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala. He is far above any
shortcomings and no evil can ever be
attributed to him. Do you know the most
famous zik when we say subhan allah?
What does it actually mean? You know you
guys normally translate it as glory be
to Allah. Subhan Allah
means
which simply means indeed Allah is free
from any imperfection. Allah is the most
perfect. That is the meaning of
many commands of the Quran. You should
hold Allah as free from any
imperfection. He is the best. He's all
good. Allah the Almighty is good uh in
his essence, in his names, in his
attributes, in his rulings, in his
actions, in his decree. Whatever comes
from the Almighty Allah is definitely
what is good. The Almighty says in the
Quran
to Allah belongs the beautiful names.
So his names are good, his attributes
are good, his actions are good, his
decrees are good. He himself is
he is good. Nothing comes out of him but
what is good.
So he doesn't accept anything but what
is good. Meaning the almighty Allah does
not accept anything but that which is
good. Whether of saying or action,
donations,
wealth,
uh contribution,
worship, you name it, anything it must
be pure. It must be exclusively for the
sake of Allah. And if it is a matter of
contribution, it must be from sources
which are lawful. You know, otherwise it
will be rejected. And that's why we know
in a hadith the almighty says
I'm the richest of all. If anyone happen
to associate with me others in worship
like somebody is praying and meanwhile
he's showing off like 10% is given in a
charity and he wants people to praise
him and uh believe that he's a very
generous person. So if 90% of the act is
for Allah and 10% is shown off Allah
said I am the richest. I would only
accept which is pure, which is good. He
doesn't accept what is but what is good.
The almighty Allah
introduced himself in the Quran and the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
introduced him to his followers when he
was speaking about kib and some of the
companions misunderstood it and he
saidool Allah but you know I like to
wear nice clothes, nice shoes, polish my
shoes. He said it is not like that.
Indeed, Allah is beautiful and he likes
and he appreciates beauty. So when you
wear perfume, he likes it. When you wear
nice clothes,
okay? Uh when you comb your hair, all of
that is praiseworthy. But if you do
anything with the intention of showing
yourself superior to people and with
pride, then it turns upside down. Then
Allah the Almighty will be upset with
this person. Then he mentioned a man.
Now the narrator, who's the narrator?
Abu, may Allah be pleased with him?
Mentioned that the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam mentioned the condition
of a man. Pay close attention to the
condition of this man in the following
statement.
A traveler.
suffer. So he's been on a journey for a
while, long journey. And journeying back
then is on the back of a camel or the
horse, the mule and traveling across the
desert, which will result in what? A lot
of dust. Dusty. And if somebody is in
this condition, would he or she worry
about combing their hair? I'm already in
the dust in the sand. And the journey is
very, very tiring. So he mentioned the
condition of a man has been traveling
for such a long time with the shival
hair and he is covered with dust
and the condition of this person
normally we studied before when a person
is in a humble condition and he raises
his hands and says oh Allah y my lord my
lord oh my lord Allah will answer this
humble condition and this humble book is
more worthy of making your supplication
being answered. On the day of
when the almighty Allah will accept the
supplications of the supplicants, the
judge, he will say to the angels, "Look
at my servants.
Look at their condition. They have been
traveling. Look with the shival hair.
Look, they're covered with dust."
Indication that they are showing
humility. They are not worried about you
know their look. They are in a very
humble condition asking me for what?
Asking me for forgiveness. Bear witness
I have granted them forgiveness.
So when a person is on a journey when a
person is in this humble condition and
he says oh Allah this is among the means
of accepting their supplications. That's
why when you go for Hajj inshallah and
on the day of it is not recommended to
keep combing your hair and worrying
about you know rather remain in this
humble condition that is more worthy for
your supplication to be answered and
accepted
raises his hands to the heavens and
raising the hands is among the means of
accepting the supplications
increasing the possibility of accepting
your supplications. This is among a long
list of the etiquets of dua being in a
state of tahara humbling yourself facing
the raising your hands and it has been
narrated many times that the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam used to raise
his hands while supplicating except
during the Friday supplication during
the sermon or uh he would raise his
hands all the way to the extent that the
whiteness of his underarm will appear.
Sur is in the hands generally speaking
is a sunnah during making dua and it
enhances
the possibility and the chances of
accepting your supplication and he's
calling upon Allah saying y
calling upon the sublime lord and he's
calling by the name of the title of
Allah the lord thei
the one who feeds the one who provides
the one who creates the one who sustains
or he's a sustener. So he is appealing
to Allah by the word Lord as I'm in need
for your help. I'm in need for your
sustenance. I'm in need for your mercy.
I'm in need for your uh support to
deliver me out of the hardship. But
unfortunately after fulfilling all the
means of accepting the dua, something
really important was ignored. What is
it? His food
is from haram. The word haram means
forbidden. He have earned the money with
which he bought the food, he bought the
drink, he bought the clothes, he bought
the house, he bought the furniture from
a lawful earning whether usually
bribery, selling drugs, selling alcohol
or theft u or deceiving people. any of
those means of earning the money
unlawful will make not only the money
unlawful and the food unlawful and the
clothes unlawful but also will block the
supplication from being answered. So he
says y
disheveled dusty traveling raising his
hands what is missing what is missing is
your money is haram. So he keeps saying
y my lord my lord and the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam said and he
has been nourished
from haram. Then he is presented this
rhetoric question saying
how does he expect his dua to be
answered after all? It is unlikely that
his supplication will be answered even
though the means of it being answered uh
are prison such as traveling for a for
such a long time being uh disheveled and
covered with dust and raising the hands
but something really important blocked
his dua from being answered which is the
allowful earning. It's a very serious
hadith brothers and sisters. Inshallah
we'll continue with the rest of the
hadith, the explanation and the lessons
to be learned from the hadith in the
next session.
