As humans, we all have our concerns,
we have our aspirations, we look to
achieve something, we worried about
projects, businesses, children. All of
these are concerns. All of these are
things that we think of and remember the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam used
to seek refuge in Allah from worries
and from
sorrow from grief.
So what were the prophet's sallallahu
alaihi wasallam worries?
Was he interested in building mansions?
Was he keen on having wealth and money?
No. The prophetat wasallam's main main
concern was calling the people to Islam.
And this is what we mentioned in the
prophet's grief
lesson
that we spoke about last time that he
felt sad and sorry when people turned
their backs to his call and his
invitation to Jenna and salvation.
Also the prophetat wasam
was truly concerned
when it came to
the ummah's fate on the day of judgment.
The prophet used to recite the Quran at
night prayer and repeat this ayah. My
Lord, indeed they have led many people
away or uh um
led them astray. And then the prophetam
would say, "If you should punish them,
indeed they are your servants. And if
you should pardon them or forgive them,
indeed you are the one who is exalted in
might and wise."
And he used to supplicate, invoke Allah
and weep until
Allahawel sent to him the archangel Gibl
and he said to him, Gibl,
go to Muhammad and ask him and Allahel
knows best of course
and ask him why are you weeping? So when
Gabriel came,
the prophet answered him
and he told him that he's worried about
his the fate of his ummah. So Gibl went
back to Allah and told him and Allah
knows better
and he said, "Oh Gibl, go back to
Muhammad and tell him that we will
satisfy you in your ummah and you should
not be worried about their fate. People
concerns
come to the top
and are visible
whenever they speak, whenever they go to
places. You can see someone who carries
the concern of sports talking about
the latest achievements of his team or
the national team or this uh player or
that people are who are so keen on
investments talk about stocks about
crypto about gold and silver and the
likes. The prophet's concerns sallallahu
alaihi wasallam were of a different
level. Even of at the time of his death
on his deathbed, what were his concerns?
It was salat.
The last words the companions heard of
the prophetat wasallam saying,
reminding them of the importance of
salat. He said
be careful in observing the prayer and
he repeated that and also take care of
your
slaves and concubines that Allah had
given you control over. Take care of
them and be kind to them. Also among the
last words was his advice and reminder
to the um to be kind to the women folk
and he described them as being captive
under our control.
So the prophet said be kind to the women
that Allah made you responsible for
whether they're wives, daughters,
widows, orphans and the likes.
also
on his dying bed. The prophet's concern
sallallahu alaihi wasallam was
so now he's on his dying a death bed. He
would not ask for something worldly. He
would mourn his companions by saying may
Allah curse the Jews and the Christians.
They had prophets and messengers and
they took their graves as places of
worship.
So the prophet is warning his companions
of doing what the Jews and the
Christians had done.
And we know as mother said had hadn't
the prophet said that we would have
raised his grave and made it a monument
and a place where people would visit.
But the prophet and the companions were
afraid that people would take this as a
masjid, as a place of worship.
Unfortunately, as some of the ignorance
and those who don't know Islam may be
doing nowadays,
the prophet's concerns
were not to hoard gold and silver, not
to save and gather wealth and money.
rather
to spend it as soon as possible.
May Allah be pleased with him says, "I
prayed behind the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam one day in Medina
prayer and he gave salamlaykumdah
then all of a sudden he stood up and
went across the rose to one of his wives
rooms. The people were startled by the
speed that he got up immediately after
the salah. This wasn't his habit.
So when they asked him what happened,
the prophet said, I remembered some gold
that I had in the house and I was afraid
that it may keep me away
from
dividing it between those who need it.
So I immediately went and distribute it
to the people who are in need of it. You
can compare this. He could not wait five
minutes to do. He could not wait 10
minutes to do the sunnah. No, because
this was more important. Sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. This is what his
concerns were all revolving around to
get rid of any liability of saving this
money for himself and to distribute it
among those who need it. Compare this to
those who
hoard wealth and delay giving zakat.
I get people coming to me and saying,
"She it's been like seven years. I did
not give zakat and now I feel
remorseful. I want to give it." Where
have you been seven years and you
haven't paid the cat? When we tell them
about the calculation, oh it's a lot of
money, sheh. Subhan Allah. the one who
gave you all this wealth and now a small
percentage you're not willing to give it
willingly.
Also the prophet's
concern,
the amount of worry and depression he
had when the people of Tif
rejected his invitation
and refused to give him the pledge of
allegiance and accept Islam. And not
only that, they said, "You're a liar.
You can't be who you say you are." And
he ordered their slaves and children to
throw pebbles at him which made his feet
bleed. Alisat wasam
he went all the way from Tif
worried depressed could not even see
where he was headed until Allah sent to
him the archangel Gibl
and he said to him here is the angel
responsible for the mountains Allah made
him come down to earth for the first
time to
take your request. And the angel of the
mountain said, "Allah had sent me to
you, saying to me to do whatever you
want. If you wish, I could collapse all
these mountains on their heads
for what they had done to you." And the
prophet saidatam, "No, I am hopeful and
wishful that Allahawel would get from
their offspring people that would
worship him alone and not associate any
other with him." And that wish came to
reality and this is what had happened.
The prophet used to have concerns
sallallahu alaihi wasallam about
the calamities and the trials
that were approaching his ummahiban
the mother of the believers
narrates that zash
her co-wife the mother of the believers
said that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam entered her chamber once and he
was worried
and scared
sayingahill
woe to the Arab from
an evil that is approaching
today. The dam of Gog and Magog and MJ
was opened this much and he made a
circle with his thumb and index finger.
Zab may Allah be pleased with her. Said,
"Oh prophet of Allah, do you fear for us
while we have all these good worshippers
and good people around us?" The prophet
said, "Yes."
when evil spreads in the community then
there is no protection from Allah's
wrath. So even if we have bearded men,
women, people praying in the masid when
there is vice and evil spreading in the
community, wrong practices, haram widely
practiced,
then this is when the wrath of Allah
should come. The prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam was also concerned when
natural phenomena took place.
So whenever there was clouds in the
skies,
the prophet used to be worried wasam and
we can see this in his face. Mother
Aisha said, "Oh prophet of Allah, when
people see these clouds, they have this
glad tidings
because they know the rain is going to
fall upon them, but you are this
worried. Why is that?" He said to her,
"Oh Isa, how could I be in safety from
Allah's wrath,
previous people of and Tamud and the
likes saw such clouds and they said,
"Oh, these are clouds that will bring
rain for us and it was filled with
Allah's punishment and wrath."
This is how the prophet used to react to
such natural phenomena because he was
concerned for his ummah.
And compare this to what we do when we
see an eclipse of the sun or of the
moon. When there are tornadoes, when
there are hurricanes, when there are
volcanoes and earthquakes elsewhere,
what do we do?
Normal, natural. This is nature. That
wasn't the way of the prophet Alisam
which shows you how his heart was
connected with Allah.
This is all the time we have
and with this we conclude this lesson.
That's right.
