Ustaz, are the deeds we did with arrogance
and pride will be erased?
And if after we repent to Allah,
will they be counted?
So, one donates to a mosque Rp1 billion
and he was showing off about it.
And, he came to a religion study, realized his mistaks, & wondered about his Rp 1 billion.
If I repent to Allah now,
will my deeds be accepted?
There are different opinions
about it among the scholars.
Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullahu ta'ala
said...
Nothing will be back, because the deeds
were not originally accepted.
The deeds were to show off,
and showing off is not a pious deed.
What would be returned?
Other scholars say
that they will be recounted.
وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَنْ تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ
نَفَقَاتُهُمْ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللَّهِ
"And what prevents their expenditures
from being accepted from them ...
...but that they have disbelieved
in Allah."
The disbelievers...
...they sacrificed...
...they gave charity.
They tied kinship.
They received their guests well.
But they didn't believe in Allah.
But if they converted to Islam...
...all the deeds will return to them.
When they did good deeds but disbelievers,
their deeds were not accepted.
But when they converted to Islam,
their deeds were accepted.
So if it was only because of
showing off...
This is another opinion
from scholars.
But for Ibnul Qayyim...
Other scholars say, if one repents,
their deeds are accepted.
But not for Ibnul Qayyim.
Which one you choose?
Ibnul Qayyim's opinion or other scholars'?
