From Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layl, he said
"I met Kaad bin Ujrah."
He said, "Should I not offer you
a present?"
What is the present?
A knowledge.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us.
And we said, "O Messenger of Allah."
"Allah taught us how
to invoke peace upon you."
"Sekarang kami bertanya tentang shalawat."
"How we should bless you?"
The Holy Prophet said: Say:
They said, "Allah taught us how
to invoke peace upon you."
"Salammu 'alaika."
"What about shalawat [blessing] to you?
We don't know how to do shalawat to you."
I am asking you, the companions,
did they know Arabic?
They were expert in Arabic.
They might create shalawat themselves.
They were capable.
But since the Prophet was there,
why should they make it themselves?
So, they asked the Prophet
how to do a good shalawat...
... for the Prophet ﷺ.
So, the Prophet taught them shalawat
known as shalawat Ibrahimiyah.
This is the best blessing.
It is called shalawat Ibrahimiyah.
But most people don't do shalawat
with this one.
Because it is not good to hear
to make melodious (like a song).
So people create this shalawat.
Shalawat Fatih, shalawat Nariyah.
That shalawat.
This shalawat.
Brothers, the Prophet had taught us.
This shalawat came directly
from the Prophet ﷺ's tongue.
And it was the companions who asked.
Surely, the Prophet taught the best one.
And the companions were able to create.
They were able to make up.
Because they were expert in Arabic.
But since the Prophet was there,
they asked the Prophet.
So why do we do shalawat
made by other people.
I don't blame it as long as the content
is not made up just like that.
But when one believes that
whosoever says shalawat Fatih...
... it is as if he reads the whole Quran
many times...
Whosoever recites shalawat Nariyah,
they will have this and that...
It needs references for that.
"From experiences." is not valid for reference.
Experience? Many go to the cimitery, and churches
to pray, and their prayers are granted.
Would that be a reference?
Experience is not a reference.
How can we leave the prayer that
the Prophet taught us...
... while we take prayers
made up by someone we don't know.
Whether it is right or wrong,
the reward is not clear.
We shall keep shalawat that
the Prophet taught us.
It is called shalawat Ibrahimiyah.
