Dear Muslims of Friday prayer,
May Allah SWT bless you,
We are thankful to Allah SWT,
who makes it easy for us
to pass through Ramadan,
by worshipping Allah SWT,
By fasting, doing night prayers,
and reciting the Quran.
May Allah SWT accept our deeds all.
May Allah SWT consider
this to forgive our sins,
and put us in His Heaven.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ
إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا
ُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ
Whosoever stays for the
prayer in the month of Ramadan due to..
... faith and seeking reward,
his previous sins will be forgiven.
Be happy, you who, in Ramadan, spends
their time to read the Quran.
Be happy, you who, in the month of Ramadan,
put their effort to pray at night,
seeking forginveness from Allah SWT.
Be happy, you who, in the month of Ramadan,
shed their tears, seeking Allah's heaven
& fear His punishment.
Because the Messenger gave us good news.
Whosoever fasts in the month of Ramadan
due to faith,
Allah shall forgive his previous sins.
Ramadan has passed by,
the Holy Month has left us.
Now, the other months come.
Remember, we do not worship Allah
only in Ramadan.
Because the God we worship in Ramadan,
He is the God who rules over
the other months.
The Salaf said: بئس القوم لا يعرفون
“What bad people they are who do not
know Allah except in Ramadan.”
Allah SWT explains that the real lesson
from fasting is
“For you to fear Allah SWT.”
Now, after Ramadan,
do we still fear Allah SWT?
This is a test for us.
Now, the shackles of the demons have been
released.
Satan has begun easily
to tempt the children of Adam.
Thus, in the next 11 months,
can we still maintain our fear of Allah,
that has been achieved during the month of
Ramadan?
Dear Muslims, May Allah SWT bless you,
Today,
among the important things
that need to be conveyed is ...
... how to keep our deed so that
they are not damaged and annihilated.
As said Al-Imam Ibnu Khair RA.
The quantity of deeds is not important.
What is important is how to maintain
our deeds to continue ...
... and not to be annihilated.
There are matters that we shall keep away,
because they ...
... may damage our deeds
or annihilate them.
Among actions that may damage our deeds,
the first one is ...
... to associate Allah SWT, or leave Islam.
Allah says in the Quran:
Whosoever of you turns back from Islam,
and dies as a disbeliever,
then his deeds will be lost, and they
will be the dwellers of the Fire.
And among things that may annihilate ...
our deeds is to associate
Allah SWT with others.
Whosoever dies associating
Allah SWT with others,
his deeds are lost.
Despite the fact that
he worships Allah for 60 years.
Even though he prays,
does hajj and gives for charity.
Even though he does virtues.
But if he dies associating
Allah SWT with others,
Known as great shirk,
then his deeds are lost.
Allah SWT said:
Whosoever associates Allah SWT to others,
Allah forbids him Heaven,
and Fire will be his abode.
There will be no one to help the wrong-doers,
who joins other gods with Allah.
Allah SWT also said:
لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ
وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“O Muhammad, if you were
to join gods with Allah,”
And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
will not do that.
But Allah gives example ...
If Muhammad ﷺ, the noblest mankind,
the noblest mankind on Earth,
If Messenger of Allah ﷺ
joins other gods with Allah,
Allah said:
“Surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, O
Muhammad.”
“And you will certainly
be among the losers."
What about those who are even lower
than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?
Does he feel safe associating
Allah with others?
Does he feel safe that Allah
will not annihilate his deeds?
And, another action that will
cancel or annihilate our deeds ...
... is riya’.
Doing good deeds hoping
to be praised by humans.
Doing good deeds hoping
to be respected by humans.
Therefore, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“What I worry the most
from you is little shirk.”
And the Apostle ﷺ was asked:
"What is syirik ashgar?"
The Apostle ﷺ said "the small shirk is
riya',
going good deeds with the hope
that others see him.”
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“Do you want me to inform you,
About something other than the false Mesiah
that makes me worried about you?”
“Of course, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ,”
said the companions, “What is it?”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
Hidden idolatry.
Showing as if one is doing
good deeds for Allah,
but in fact, his heart is rotten.
He does good deeds to be praised,
to be seen, to be respected.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
“Hidden idolatry.”
A man stands for prayer.
He beautifies his prayer.
Because he sees another man looking at him.
This person beautifies his prayer
not for Allah.
He lengthens his prayer not for Allah.
Reciting beautifully.
The Quran not for Allah SWT.
But to be praised by humans.
It is saddening the
condition of a person who is riya’
Who does good deeds to be
praised by humans.
He puts people’s praise first,
and leaves behind Allah's praise.
He considers the reward in the world
more important than that of the Afterworld.
He does not glorify Allah SWT.
He praises people
who are full of hideousness.
He hopes to be rewarded
in the world by praise.
And he leaves behind Allah’s reward in the
Afterworld.
My dear fellow Muslims,
may Allah SWT bless you,
Among things that endanger us to be riya’,
wanting to be praised,
is what some people do,
showing their deeds.
When he does hajj, he takes pictures
of himself, in front of Kabah.
When he prays, when he reads the Quran,
he takes pictures of himself.
And he uploads his pictures
in the social media.
If his intention was to motivate,
Alhamdulillah.
But we fear that his intention
is to be praised.
To be commented.
To show off his deeds.
The same thing, those who go to hajj only
to be called Al Hajj. What a lost.
He spent a lot of money.
Millions.
Waiting to go to hajj just
to be called Al Hajj.
To be respected by the community.
His deeds are not going
to be accepted by Allah SWT.
Because he does not do that for Allah,
but to show off.
And in the Afterworld, Allah will humiliate
people who show off.
Allah SWT said:
Allah SWT said, “O people
who like to show-off."
“Now, you are in Hereafter.
Go to those whom
you used to show off your deeds to,
“You did not seek from Me.”
“Why did you expect people's praises?”
“Seek reward from them.”
“Will you find any reward with them?”
Of course not.
Among things that will annihilate
our deeds is go to the diviner.
The Apostle ﷺ said,
“He who visits a diviner ('Arraf),
and asks him about anything,
his prayers extending to forty nights
will not be accepted.”
This is terrifying.
We see how diviners are
most searched in our country.
Every city, even district, has a diviner.
There are a lot of them,
and people believe them.
And we know that most of them
are uneducated.
Aren’t we sad to see that a bachelor
trusts a diviner who never goes to school?
Where is their sense?
Aren’t they afraid of the saying
from the Apostle SAW?
“He who visits a diviner ('Arraf),
his prayers extending to forty nights
will not be accepted.”
This applies to those
who reads zodiac tale.
Zodiac tale is a form of shirk.
Be careful. Never read them.
And do not take books or magazines
with zodiac tales in our houses.
We cannot read them at all
because it is a form of shirk.
Whosoever believes in it, reads it,
their prayers will not be accepted
for 40 days.
When one believes a saying of a diviner,
just asking questions, his prayers
will not be accepted for 40 days.
And it is worst if they believe it.
“If anyone resorts to a diviner
and believes in what he says,
he has nothing to do with the Quran,
what has been sent down to Muhammad (ﷺ).
Among things that annihilated
our deeds is to drink alcohol.
The Apostle ﷺ said,
"Whoever drinks alcohol,
his prayers extending to forty nights
will not be accepted.”
Indeed, those who drink alcohol shall lose.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
“Whosoever drinks alcohol in the world,
will not drink it in the Afterlife.”
He will not drink it in the Afterlife.
This is a punishment for those who
seek pleasure in the world.
They will not feel pleasure
in the Afterlife.
It is strange. A human being granted
with senses,
Intelligence by Allah SWT,
lose their senses by drinking alcohol.
And he is among the insane men.
Do they want to be equalized
with crazy people? The insane?
But when lust fills one’s self,
a person will not care, and drink alcohol,
for a temporary pleasure, letting go
the eternal pleasure.
Among things that annihilated our deeds,
are to leave the Ashr prayer.
Not to pray in general is a big sin.
And mostly Ashr.
Allah SWT says specifically Ashar.
Allah SWT said,
“Guard the prayers, and the middle prayer,”
It is the Ashr.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whosoever leaves Ashr,
his deeds are in vain.”
Keeping Ashr is a very noble act
of worship.
In the hadith, the Messenger
of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whosoever pray the two times,
Subh and Ashr,
he shall go to Heaven.
Ashr is one of the two prayers,
who will make one have the pleasure
to see Allah’s face.
In the hadith, the Messenger
of Allah ﷺ said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Indeed,
you will see Allah SWT
as you see the moon
on the night of a full moon,
You shall not crowd
one another to see Him.”
“You shall not push each other
to see Allah SWT.”
And the Apostle ﷺ said,
“If you are able to do Subh, and Ashr,
do it.”
This asks us to guard Ashr prayer,
because we can have the pleasure
to see Allah SWT in the Judgment Day.
Be careful. Many people do not do Ashr.
Especially those who work at day time.
The go home, and fall asleep
and they do not pray Ashr.
Dear Muslims of Friday prayer,
May Allah SWT bless you,
Among things that annihilate
good deeds is Al Man.
Al Man is to “bring up” things.
Kindness, charity, donations.
Allah SWT said,
O you who have believed,
Do not invalidate your charities
with reminders,
or injury to those whom you help.
Therefore, if you help people,
forget about it, do not remind it to them,
do not hurt them.
If we remind it,
our deeds are in vain, & severe punishment
shall be for us.
In the hadith,
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"There are three to whom Allah
will not speak on the Day of Resurrection,
or look at them, or sanctify them,
and theirs will be a painful torment."
“Among them,” said the Messenger of Allah,
“the one who reminds people of
what he has given them.”
And the poor will get really hurt.
When we remind them and say,
“Aren’t I the one who give for you?”
“Aren’t I who enlighten your weight?”
"“Aren’t I who enlighten pay your debt?”
“Haven't I helped you?”
This will make our deeds in vain.
Hence, we shall be the one who, when giving
charity,
does not expect things
but rewards from Allah SWT.
As the saying of the believers in Heaven.
They say,
“I give you things ...
... for Allah SWT”
"We do not need from you a thank you, nor
that you pay us back.”
Among things that annihilated our deeds,
When we speak with a volume higher
than the Apostle SAW.
Increase our voice
in front of the Apostle SAW.
Allah SWT said,"
O you who have believed,
do not raise your voices
above the voice of the Prophet,
Nor you be loud to him in speech,
in front of the Prophet,
like the loudness of some of you to others.
Lest your deeds become worthless,
while you perceive not.”
The Scholars said, “If the Apostle SAW
were still alive,
and we speak louder than him,
or our voice is over his voice,
it can annihilate our deeds,
and what more when we only talk loud?”
and dispute upon the saying
of the Apostle SAW?”
This is terrifying.
Most of the people, when we convey them
shahih hadith,
we say that the Messenger of Allah said
this and that.
he says, “I do not believe it.
“I believe in my preacher.”
"“I believe my Syeikh.”
"“I believe my teacher.”
And he will not look at
the Apostle SAW hadiths.
While knows that the Messenger of Allah
said in the shahih hadith.
And he rejects the hadith.
We fear that this kind of person,
his deeds will be lost.
We know that the scholars are nobles.
But none is mahsum.
What did Imam Malik say?
His teacher, Imam Syafii RA.
Imam Malik RA said,
Anyone, whoever he is,
anyone,
His words can be accepted, or rejected,
except the Prophet SAW.
His words are mahsum.
We have to accept them.
Thus, we shall not live
our religion with lust.
We shall not put forward our lust.
That when shahih hadith come,
we reject them,
with syeikh’s words as an excuse,
teacher’s words, Imam’s words
because this annihilate our deeds.
The last thing to be informed,
Among things that annihilate our deeds,
is to swear with Allah SWT,
by saying that this person will not be
forgiven by Allah SWT.
In a shahih hadith, the Messenger of
Allah ﷺ told a story of two persons.
One always worshipped Allah.
The other did not have
the willingness to do it. He was a sinner.
And the person, who did good deeds ...
always reminded his friend
to do good by saying,
“My fried, you shall stop doing sins.”
But his friend did not care
and continue to do sins.
One day they met.
The perseon always reminded his friend
to do good by saying,
“O, Fulan.”
“Stop doing sins.”
But his friend did not want to.
Until one day, he committed a big sin.
And his friend was very angry, and said ...
“My fried, you shall stop doing sins.”
The one scolded said,
He said, “Leave me alone with Allah.
It is none of your business.”
“Did Allah send You to be a messenger
to watch over me?”
It seemed that the one doing sins
was emotional and was saying rude things...
... that hurt the pious one.
He said, “Did Allah send you to watch me?”
“Why do you keep preaching?”
“Leave my business with Allah SWT.”
The sinner’s saying is wrong.
Very wrong.
But the pious one is worst.
When he heard what the sinner said,
he was thinking.
And he concluded that his friend ...
... will not be forgiven by Allah SWT.
Why? According to him,
he reminded his friends many times,
But his friend did not want to hear him,
and even talked in a rude manner.
What did he say?
“Allah will not forgive you.”
He said a very dangerous phrase.
“Allah will not forgive you.”
That means he considered
that Allah's blessing is limited.
This is a sinner.
Then Allah SWT send the angel
to take their soul.
They were brought in front of Allah SWT.
Allah said:
“Who dared to swear
that I will not forgive Fulan?
“I have forgiven him.”
“And I will annihilate your deeds.”
The pious enter the Fire.
And the sinner was forgiven by Allah SWT.
Be careful. When we are emotional,
we shall not say ...
things that exceed Allah.
Be careful.
When saying this hadith,
Abu Hurairah RA said,
“The person said one phrase.
One phrase, and finally it ...
... caused him bad and destroyed
his worlds,and his Afterlife.
Dear Muslims, May Allah SWT bless you,
May Allah SWT accept our deeds all.
May Allah SWT keep us
away from things that might endanger,
and lessen or annihilate our good deeds.
