Ibn Kathir narrated the hadith
of the Prophet ...
"Beautify the Quran with your voice."
So, recite it nicely.
"Those who do not recite the Qur'an ...
... in a good tone, then they
are not among my people.
Likewise when the Prophet ﷺ heard the recitation of Abu Musa Al Ashari RA ...
... then the Prophet said
"You have been given
a sweet melodious voice ...
... like the voice of the Prophet David
when reading the Torah. "
He was praised by the Prophet ﷺ.
That Abu Musa Al Ashari said,
"If I had known..
... that you were listening to my recitation,
O Messenger of Allah ...
... I would read it better to you."
Here, tartil means ...
Reading with tartil ...
... means that one tries to read slowly,
beautifully.
With Tajweed, while imbibing its
meaning.
This is called tartil.
This is what makes one able to rise
degree by degree.
Not by reading quickly, and it is not
the important thing to finish.
Reading with a target for a chapter.
That is not what it means.
The purpose of the Qur'an is to practice it.
As Fudhaili bin Iyadh said ...
"Indeed, the Quran was revealed
to be practiced."
People limit themselves.
They think that they practice the Qur'an
by just reading it. But that is not it.
Reading is a means to practice.
To be able to practice, we read, we
understand , only by then we practice it.
If we don't understand, it's impossible
to practice it.
