Veryly, among the signs
of Allah SWT's greatness...
Allah sends us rain.
Pouring the Earth and humankind.
There are many verses talking
about rain in the Quran.
Sometimes, Allah said that rainwater
is for us to purify.
"We send down from the sky
pure water."
And Allah alsa says that rain is also
provision. Allah SWT said
"As provision for the servants,."
Allah SWT said: "It is He who sends down
rain from the sky."
...from it is drink for you"
"And from it is foliage."
"In which you pasture [animals]."
"He causes to grow...
...for you thereby the crops...
...olives, palm trees, grapevines...
...and from all the fruits."
And Allah said "Indeed in that is a
sign...
...for people who give thought."
Indeed, there are many benefits
we can get from rain.
And Allah asks us, His servants,
to give a thought...
...on the lessons we can get
from the rain.
That is why Allah said:
"Indeed in that is a
sign...
...for people who give thought."
In another verse, Allah SWT said:
"Indeed in that are signs...
...for a people who use reason."
Therefore, if one wants to be praised
by Allah SWT...
...one shall give a thought...
...on the greatness of Allah SWT
in one of His creaturs...
...rain.
Today...
...I would like to talk about three things.
The lessons we get from rain
that Allah asks us to have a thought on.
Among many things about rain.
These three matters are mentioned
in Surah Al Hajj.
Allah SWT said:
Allah SWT said:
"And you see the earth barren."
"But when We send down upon it rain...
"It quivers and swells and grows
[something] of every beautiful kind."
It grows because of the rain
that Allah sends to the Earth.
Allah SWT said:
"That is because Allah is the Truth."
He is the only One to be worshiped.
"And He gives life to the dead."
And the third is that Allah
is over all things competent.
"And [that they may know] that the Hour
is coming - no doubt about it."
"And that Allah will resurrect
those in the graves."
In these verses, Allah mentions about
three functions of rain to be thought of.
First, Allah said:
Allah is over all things competent.
Look at the rain, amazing creation.
Look how Allah creates rain.
"Do you not see that Allah drives clouds?"
"Then He brings them together...
...then He makes them into a mass."
"mountains [of clouds]."
When we are on a plane, we can see
very thick clouds.
So thick that it looks like mountains.
And Allah sends rain from these clouds.
Of which the amount is as Allah wills.
On a place where Allah wills.
And Allah sends rain of which the water
has no taste.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said:
"And have you seen the water
that you drink?"
"Is it you who brought it down
from the clouds, or is it We?"
"If We willed, We could make it bitter."
"So why are you not grateful
to Allah SWT?"
Rainwater is plain,
if it is salty, we are doomed.
And rain pours in form of granules.
Not in the amount of
lake water pouring on Earth.
Otherwise, we are doomed.
All runs at the will of Allah SWT.
And the only one who can do this
is Allah SWT.
"Allah is over all things competent."
The second function that Allah mentions
in All Hajj about the rain.
Rain reminds us that there will be
Ressurection Day.
Allah SWT said:
"That Allah SWT, He gives life
to the dead."
Allah SWT mentioned.
"We send down rain."
And Allah SWT said...
"As provisions for His servants."
And Allah SWT said at the end of the verse.
"Thus is the resurrection."
And Allah SWT also said:
"And it is Allah SWT who sends...
...the winds as good tidings before His
mercy.
And Allah sends down from the sky
pure water, and grows corps.
Allah SWT said at the end of the verse...
"Thus will We bring forth the dead"
"Perhaps you may be reminded.."
With the rain, we see that
the dry Earth...
...revives suddenly.
To remind us that...
We are alive now, and will die.
And we will be ressurected
by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allah said:
"And [that they may know] that
the Hour is coming - no doubt about it
"And that Allah will resurrect
those in the graves."
To be accountable of what they have done
during their life.
To be accountable of what they have seen.
What they have heard,
what they have said.
What they have commented.
All will be accountable
in front of Allah SWT.
Among other important functions
for us...
...when we think about the rain...
...is that we realize that...
Allah is the Truth.
He is the only One who has the right
to be worshipped.
While others than Allah
have no right to be worshipped.
The only one to be worshipped
is the One who regulates rain.
Who sends rain, who stops rain.
He is the only who can send
all of those.
Therefore, after Allah mentions
about rain...
Allah said
It is because Allah is the Truth.
The only Truth to be worshiped.
In Surah Al Baqarah, Allah said:
"And your god...
...is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala."
"One God."
"The Entirely Merciful,
the Especially Merciful."
Allah mentions His argument, saying...
"And what Allah sends,
rain from the sky...
...is the sign that He is the One God."
The only One who has the right
to be worshiped.
And at the end of the verse,
Allah said:
These are the signs of Allah's greatness...
...for people who use reasons.
So, if Allah wills...
...Allah can make the rain as a blessing.
And Allah can make it as a punishment.
As what Allah did for the people of Noah.
Allah SWT said:
"Then We opened the gates of the heaven."
"with rain pouring down."
To destroy the people of Noah.
Because they denied Allah SWT.
And if Allah willed, Allah would not
send water from the sky.
But He would send down stones.
To people who commit sins to Allah SWT.
As what Allah did to the Lot's people,
to whom He sent down stones.
Allah SWT said:
"And We rained upon them
a rain [of stones]."
"And evil was the rain of those
who were warned."
So, when we see rain pouring hard...
...we shall remember, the only One to be
worshiped is the one who sends this rain.
And if there is no rain, we shall
ask Allah SWT.
As did our brothers in Riau.
In Pekanbaru.
They had not had rain for a long time.
Meanwhile, smokes still bothered them.
They did Istisqaa prayer.
Afterward, rain fell in the afternoon,
continuously.
Only Allah is capable to send this.
