Verily, among the obligations...
...strongly stressed out by Allah...
...is to be devoted to our father.
Some people focus on devoting
to their mother.
This is certainly a good thing.
However, they ignore...
...and forget to be devoted
to their father.
Meanwhile, the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Verily, you and your property
belong to your father.”
This hadith is authenticated
by Syaikh Al Abani Rahimahullahu ta'ala.
In another naration of this hadith...
It is said from Jabir bin Abdillah Ra,
he said...
“A man came to the Prophet ﷺ."
"He complained about his father
to the Prophet ﷺ."
He said, ‘O Messenger of Allah.’
‘My father took my property.’
Then the Prophet replied the man.
‘Go and fetch your father for me.’
The angel Gabriel came down
to the Prophet ﷺ.
Gabriel said.
‘If the man’s father come to see you...’
‘Ask him...
...what is in his mind,
spoken out in his heart...
...but was never spoken
by his tongue...
...that he could not listen to it
by his ears.’
When the old man
came."
"The Prophet ﷺ asked him:"
‘O, old man. Your son keep on complaining
about you to me.’
‘That you have taken his property.’
Then...
...the old man replied.
‘Ask my son.’
‘Did I take his money for myself?’
‘Or was it for his aunties?’
‘Forget all of it.’
‘Tell me about what is in your heart.’
‘That you say inside your heart
but haven’t been heard by your ears.’
The old man replied.
‘Verily, O Messenger of Allah.’
‘Allah has given me more and more faith.’
'To have faith in you.
‘I have something in mind.’
‘That I haven’t spoken out.’
The Prophet ﷺ said:
‘Say what is in your mind,
and I will listen.’
“The old man said.”
This father said.
‘I took care of you when you were born.’
‘I took care of you and fulfilled your needs
when you were a teenager.’
‘All my work, you drank and took it
as you wished.’
‘When you were ill, O my son.’
‘I could not sleep for the illness
you suffered from.’
‘I was worried, I could not sleep
because I was sad and worried.’
‘I was worried that you’d die.’
‘While I know death is for sure.’
‘As if I was the one who was ill.’
‘And not you, my son.’
‘My eyes could not hold my tears.’
‘And when you've grown up.’
‘And you’ve reached your dream.’
‘That I had hoped for you.’
‘You pay me back by acting
and speaking harshly.’
‘As if you were the one who did good
to me.’
‘If you had not cared for my rights
as a father...’
‘Then, consider me as your neighbor.’
‘Act as a person who would do good
to his neighbor.’
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ cried.”
“He grabbed the son's collar.’
“Then, the Prophet told him.”
‘Verily, you and your property
belong to your father.'
What a noble thing a father’s rights are.
His rights cannot be expressed by words.
Think of what the Prophet ﷺ said:
“You, your soul, your body...
...belong to your father and your property
belong to your father.”
The highest compliment,
the most beautiful poems...
...could not pay back your father’s
beautiful and noble rights.
He was your place to lean on
when you were little and as teenager.
When everyone around you left you
and did not care for you.
He is the father, the family's foundation.
He is the sign, the calm in the family.
A father is the light for his family.
His presence is awaited.
His jokes and laughter
is our life decoration.
His hug and life is our light.
Looking at him gives us happiness.
His leaving brings us sadness.
Your father is a figure who has sacrificed
for his family.
He has been trying to guide you endlessly.
He has always hoped for your goodness
sincerely.
Your father, he’s always giving you
without counting it.
What’s important for him
is that you can laugh and smile.
He’s sacrificed his time for you.
He’s sacrificed himself
to give you happiness.
He is the father.
Allah Almighty ordered you
to be devoted to him.
To do good to him.
“And We have enjoined upon man
[care] for his parents.”
“His mother carried him, [increasing her]
in weakness upon weakness.”
“And his weaning is in two years.”
“Be grateful to Me and to your parents.”
“To Me is the [final] destination.”
“O those who want to reach for Paradise
that is as vast as sky and Earth.”
“Who wants to reach
for a perfect and eternal pleasure.”
“In front of you, the heaven's door
is open wide.”
It is your father.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Your father is the Paradise’s
middle door.”
“Take care of the door if you wish.”
“If you don’t, leave the door.”
Being devoted to your father is one cause
for your deeds to be accepted.
Allah said about those who are devoted
to their parents...
...who are grateful to Allah
“Those are the ones from whom
We will accept the best of what they did.”
“And overlook their misdeeds.”
“[their being] among the companions
of Paradise.”
“[That is] the promise of truth
which they had been promised.”
Remember to make your father satisfied
is a cause to make Allah satisfied.
A cause to reach Paradise, to avoid
Allah SWT's anger.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The pleasure of the Lord lies
in the pleasure of the father.”
“The anger of the Lord lies
in the anger of the father.’
O servant of Allah.
Think of your father’s position.
How he did many good things for your.
Verily, you are a drop of his sperm.
You are part of his soul.
How great his expectation from you.
Don’t ask how he was happy...
...and overwhelmed when he heard...
...your mother was pregnant of you.
He was so happy while you were
still in your mother’s belly.
You haven’t got out
to this world.
The more you grew,
months passed.
The more he waited for you.
The more he loved your mother
because you were in her tummy.
He missed you already.
Waiting for your birth.
Counting days and nights.
Day by day, night by night, he waited
this beautiful moment seeing you.
How great his expectation from you.
How great his dreams about you.
When you got out from your mother’s tummy.
When your mother suffered.
Your father felt your mother’s sufferance.
Your father prayed, worried.
That Allah would lessen
your mother’s suffering.
So that you could come out
safe and sound.
Until he heard your cry.
He heard your scream.
He couldn’t hold his tear
of happiness.
He was too touched to see you.
His heart is full of love.
He was so happy, thrilled
when he looked at you.
Don’t ask about his love to you.
His care to you.
That was a historical moment
he would not forget.
A historical moment
the first time to see you.
Days went by.
The more he's grown his love to you.
You’ve become his number one.
His priority in his life.
You were served days and nights.
His thought was always with you.
His heart was always with you.
He always asked about you.
He was happy to see you smile.
He was worried when you cried
even more when you were ill.
He didn’t want you to get hurt.
His heart was crushed to hear you cry
from your illness.
He was awake at night
because he was thinking of you.
How often he could not hold his tears.
Because he was concerned about your health.
When you grew day by day,
he's put a lot of hope on you.
All your wish were granted.
He worked on your dream.
He was happy to see you happy.
He was sad when you were sad.
How your tears were wiped out
by his hugs.
How your tears were wiped out
by his hugs.
How your weariness was gone
by his hugs.
He worked a lot tirelessly.
His sweat came down from his front.
He didn’t care for it.
Until you’ve become a man.
You were his pride.
He's talked about you
to everyone.
He was happy to see you successful.
He was happy to see your steps.
Years went by. This is what
he’s fought for, educating you.
His effort full of difficulty
and suffering...
...to fight for your happiness.
How often he was sad.
When he tried to educate you.
When you defied him.
How many glasses of tears
he had to drink...
...when you defied him.
Perhaps, he shouted at you.
But it was because he cared about you.
Maybe he once tweaked you
and yelled at you.
But it is because he is worried about you.
He fought against the harshness of life.
He fought for a living.
Everything was for your happiness.
For the sake of seeing your smile.
How often you ask him to buy you something?
While you did not know
his difficult conditions.
But he never mentioned it to you.
You don't care about it.
However, he cared too much about you.
What is important for him
is your school’s needs.
Your college needs.
And your education is fulfilled.
He did not care even though
he had to owe.
He did not care even if he had to be
cursed and insulted by people.
All was for your sake.
How often he woke up in the middle
of the night to pray for you.
While you did not know.
You were fast asleep
in your dreams.
How often his tears fell.
Appealing to the Almighty
while saying:
"O Lord, as long as my child
can be successful.”
"That he can achieve his goals."
Meanwhile, you did not know about it.”
Look at him, he has to go out
in the morning to work.
For the sake of your happiness.
He must go home at night,
no time to rest.
He traveled, long distances,
facing obstacles and danger.
He did it tirelessly.
Everything was for you to smile.
Because he could not see you sad and cry.
He worked hard to build a house for you.
So you can live comfortably.
He drained his sweat
so you can eat well.
He endured the suffering of work.
So you can graduate in your education.
That is your father.
That is his struggle.
That is his sacrifice.
He gave you everything.
And he didn’t ask you to pay him back.
He tried as much as possible for you.
But, he never waited
for you to thank him.
He has done much for you
that you have not seen.
He is devoted to you.
With sacrifices that you can never repay.
Then obey Allah Almighty.
Who ordered you to obey your father.
Who ordered you to be devoted to him.
Verily, disobedience against him
is a great sin.
Hurting your father is a disaster for you.
Making him angry or crying
is disastrous for you.
Allah SWT said:
“And your Lord has decreed...
...that you not worship except Him.”
“And to parents, to give them
good treatment.”
“Whether one or both of them
reach old age...
...[while] with you, say not to them
[so much as], "uff,"
“And do not repel them.”
“But speak to them a noble word.”
“And lower to them the wing of humility
out of mercy.”
“And say:”
"My Lord, have mercy upon them
as they brought me up...
...[when I was] small.”

In fact, devoted to your father
is mandatory all the times.
However, serving him
when he enters old age ...
...... is more emphasized by Allah SWT.
When his hair has turned completely white.
When his fingers trembled,
he could not control.
When his walk starts to limp.
When diseases began to come to him.
So, when his power has vanished
spent to make you happy.
Then it's time, you greet him lovingly.
It's time, you humble yourself
to serve him.
Remember what Allah tells you.
“And lower to them the wing of humility.”
“Out of mercy.”
Don't walk in front of him.
Don’t sit before he sits.
Welcome him with a bright smiley face.
Fill in the rest of his life
with happiness.
Be proud if you can serve him.
Find out what it needs
so you can fulfill it.
Do not let him ask you.
Meet his needs before he expresses
his needs to you.
Give him a present, always pray for him.
Always pray for him.
"My Lord, have mercy upon them...
...as they brought me up...
...[when I was] small.”
Kiss his hands.
Know that the hands you kiss
have lost their power...
...for having worked for your happiness.
Kiss his front head.
He used to frown
to think about your successfulness.
Massage his feet which
have lost their power...
... to fill your need, when he was younger.
Verily, this is your chance
that won’t come twice.
By Allah, there would be time,
that you can’t see your father anymore.
The Paradise’s door that has been...
easily opened
has been removed by Allah SWT.
If your father is gone...
...you can’t give him massage anymore
You can't give him massages
You can no longer bring
his favorite food.
However, never stop praying for him.
That's what he really hopes for
in his grave.
Give for charity on his name.
Undoubtedly the reward will clear
the narrowness of the grave.
It will illuminate the darkness
of his grave.
Do good to your father's family.
Do good things to his close friends.

"O Allah, make us people
who are devoted to their parents.”
"Alive or deceased.”
“O Allah , bestow upon us
to serve our parents.”
“The best we can.”
“Alive or deceased.”
“O Allah, forgive our parents’ sins.”
"And bless them, love them
as they were weary ...
... taking care of us
when we were little. “
“O Allah, be satisfied of our parents.”
"O Allah, enter our parents in Paradise
Firdaus, the highest paradise.”
"With Your Grace, O Most Merciful.”
That is what I could deliver.
Shall we perform Friday prayer.
