Among noble worship actions
that Allah gives to whom
Allah provides wealth
is giving alms and giving
in the way of Allah SWT
And Allah named these
infaq and alms with
A good loan
in many verses in the Koran
Among these Allah says
If you loan Allah
a goodly loan
He will multiply it for you
Likewise the word of Allah SWT
And many verses that mention
about قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
Allah SWT calls it قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
a goodly loan
as a sign that the loan will be returned
by Allah SWT
Allah positions Himself as if
He borrowed from His servants
We know, if the one to whom
we lend is
a rich man, of course
he will return it
He will definitely return it
Moreover, when the borrower
is Allah the Richest
Therefore Allah says
Whatever thing you spend [in His cause]/i>
He will compensate it;
and He is the best of providers."
Then we don't need to hesitate
If we give
Allah SWT surely will replace it
What does it mean by قَرْضًا حَسَنًا?
Al Imam Al Qurthubi rahimahullahu
ta'ala in his interpretation
quoting from Husyairi rahimahullahu ta'ala
what is meant by قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
Among these is having
the following characters: first
Someone who gives alms
with a sincere heart to Allah SWT
He does not give alms because of riya '
Not because he wants to be praised
But sincerely for Allah;
Second
He must give alms
from lawful property
Because Allah does not accept
except from lawful property
The Apostle ﷺ said,
Allah the Almighty is Good
and accepts only that which is good.
Third, he gives alms from the good things
not the bad ones
Allah says, O you who have believed,
spend from the good things
which you have earned
and from that which We have produced
for you from the earth.
And do not aim
toward the defective therefrom
If you have a date garden, do not choose
a bad date for charity
If you have a coconut garden,
don't give a bad coconut
While you don't want
to use it yourself
And you donate them?
One shall give the best he has
The one he likes
The fourth characteristic
of قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
He gives alms when he is in good health
When he wants to live a long life
and wants to have a lot of wealth
When the Prophet ﷺ was asked
which kind of charity is best?
The Apostle ﷺ said
Giving charity when you are
in good health
And you are in a state
of pleasure with wealth
haunted by the fear of poverty,
and still hoping to live (as rich).
That's the best time to give charity
Your heart wants to have a lot of wealth
But you beat it
You give charity when you are
in good health
Not in a state of illness,
will die just give alms
Then the Prophet ﷺ said
And you must not defer charity
(to the time) when you are about to die,
and would then say
This is for so and so,
and this for so and so
This charity is not really good
Then among the characteristic
of قَرْضًا حَسَنًا,
charity or good loans to Allah SWT
is giving charity and hiding it
Try as much as possible
to hide the charity
Allah said, If you disclose your charitable
expenditures, they are good;
but if you conceal them and give them
to the poor, it is better for you.
People whom Allah will shade with His shade
on the Day of Resurrection,
a man who gives charity
with his right hand
and conceals it,
so that his left hand does not know
what his right hand is doing
It is natural that one is intrigued
to tell everyone what he gives on charity
But he has to fight it so that
the rewards of the concealed charity
would be greater
than the reward of the seen one
Another characteristic
of قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
is he doesn't bring up and
hurt the people he helps
Allah SWT said
O you who have believed,
do not invalidate your charities
with reminders or injury
to people you help
Do not hurt them
I am the one who helps you
It hurts him so it is not قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
Among the characteristics
of قَرْضًا حَسَنًا viz
is to give the treasure
one loves
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said
Allah said, "Never will you attain
the good [reward]
until you spend [in the way of Allah ]
from that which you love.
Sometimes, someone loves
what he has
And he donates his property
in the way of Allah
Then that is قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
And he also strives
to give much to charity
The Prophet ﷺ said
The Prophet ﷺ said,
the best of all slaves.
is the most expensive
and the best for his master
So, if you want to free slaves,
free the most expensive and the best one
This is an indication
if one wants to give charity
he shall try to give a lot of charity
because all that will return to him
And finally, among
the characteristics of قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
Abu Syai rahimahullahu ta'ala said
that is, do not ever
feel what we spend id a lot
Because what we spend
it is only the world, and the world is of
little value to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
Do not ever feel that
what we give to Allah SWT is a lot
The congregation blessed by Allah SWT
A bad and despicable illness
which befall some Muslims
which Allah calls فَحْشَاءِ
immorality
Satan threatens you with poverty
and orders you to immorality
Do not give charity, you'll be poor
And he told you to
commit despicable acts
Said the scholars, what
is meant here is ignorance
Therefore, stinginess in
the Shari'a is a heinous act
How are you not vile? You
have the wealth of wealth
If you spend it,
you will not be poor
Allah did not say
to spend all wealth
Allah only said
spend from that which
We have provided for you
You take spend 10%, 20%,
30% won't make you poor
Therefore, someone who
is stingy holding his fortune
not wanting to give charity,
he has done something heinous
In fact, if he gives to charity
The benefits will return to him
Allah does not need it anything
Allah SWT said
[they who] have loaned Allah
a goodly loan
and whatever good you put forward
for yourselves
you will find it with Allah
Not for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
If you do good, you do good for yourselves;
not for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
Therefore
Allah said
And whoever withholds only withholds
[benefit] from himself
He is withholding good things
from himself
When we do good to others
Actually, we do good to ourselves
Because we get a lot of rewards
We will have blessings in
the world and the hereafter
We will be shaded by our charity
on the Day of Judgment
Our affairs will be facilitated
So when we are stingy, it means
we are stingy to ourselves
Allah said, "And whoever withholds
only withholds [benefit] from himself"
Of course, we get a lot of rewards
for charity
In the hereafter, Allah multiplies
a lot of rewards
up to 700 times or more
Allah SWT said, The example of those
who spend their wealth in the way of Allah
is like a seed [of grain]
which grows seven spikes
in each spike is a hundred grains.
700 fold
And Allah multiplies [His reward]
for whom He wills.
Even more than that
This shows that the reward
of charity is extra ordinary
And Allah does not only reward
in the afterlife
In our grave, we are helped
by our charity
In the Masyhar, when the Sun is
only one mile away
The Prophet ﷺ said
Everyone will be under the shade
of his charity on the Day of Judgment
The more he does charity, the more
he is shaded from the sun
God's wrath will subside thanks to alms
Said the Prophet ﷺ
Charity in secret extinguishes
the wrath of the Lord
In essence, when talking about
the afterlife, charity are extraordinary
Therefore, Allah SWT mentioned,
there is someone who will die
he whishes that his death would be
postponed to be able to give charity
And spend [in the way of Allah ]
before death approaches one of you
When death comes,
and he says, "My Lord,
if only You would delay me
for a brief term so I would give charity
Because he knows that on the Day
of Judgment, in the afterlife
Among the most helpful deeds
is charities
And, my fellow Muslims,
may Allah bless you
The benefit of charity is not only
in the hereafter
Allah eases those who give charity
The Prophet ﷺ said
Sadaqah does not decrease property
Some scholars said that it means that
charity will add property
In the Qudsi hadith, Allah said
Spend (on charity), O son of Adam
and I shall spend on you.
I shall spend on you.
Every morning there are angels
praying for those who give charity
O Allah, give him who spends something
Allah SWT also said
Allah SWT said
Satan orders you to immorality
Satan threatens you with poverty
while Allah asks you
to give charity
and promises you
forgiveness وَفَضْلًا
The scholars interpreted
فَضْلًا bounty
that those who give charity
will be given a fortune
in the world, before getting
the favors in the afterlife
thus, we see many examples
in the real world
How are the companions
They lived in our day
They gave charity because Allah SWT
They did not want their names
to be mentioned
They did not want to be famous
and Allah eased their provision
Even a scholar once said
I have never met anyone
who often give alms and whom
Allah humiliated in the world
One gives charity, and Allah increasingly
glorifies him, adding to his sustenance
in this world
provided he does قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
Especially, at the present time,
when many people need our help
Then we should give charity
Because sometimes, the reward
for charity is greater
when the need is increasing
Therefore, in the Qur'an Allah says
God mentioned
Why one would not help others,
would not give to charity
Not saving himself from Hell Fire
with فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
the freeing of a slave
Today, maybe we have none
Then Allah said
Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
Feeding one everyday will get reward
But feeding while there is famine
The reward is greater
And Allah said
Or a needy person in misery
The scholars said, the more we are in need,
the greater the charity's reward is
before Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
So, we must not be withholding
about ourselves
And whoever withholds only
withholds [benefit] from himself
He forbids himself from good in the world,
especially good in the afterlife
