إن الحمد لله، نحمدُه ونستعينُه
ونستغفرُه وَنَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
ونعوذُ باللهِ من شرورِ أنفسنا،
وسيئات أعمالنا
من يهدِه الله فلا مضلَّ له
ومن يضلِلْ فلا هادي له
وأشهدُ أنْ لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريكَ له
وأشهدُ أن محمداً عبده ورسوله. لا نبي بعده
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ
وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ
فإن أصدق الحديث كتابُ الله
وخيرَ الهدي هديُ محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم
وشرَّ الأمورِ محدثاتُها وكلَّ محدثة بدعةٌ
وكلَّ بدعة ضلالةٌ، وكلَّ محدثة بدعةٌ
وكلَّ ضلالة في النار
معاشر المسلمين
أًوصيكم ونفسي بتقوى الله ، فقد فاز المتقون
The Imams Al Bukhari and Muslim narrated
in their authentic hadith
From Abu Huraira ra
That the Apostle ﷺ said
لم يتكلم في المهد إلا ثلاثة
None spoke in cradle but three
The Apostle Isa Alaihissalam
وصاحب جريج
The second one is the child
from the story of Juraij
The third one is a child
whose mother prayed for him
to be a rich person but refused, and talked
refusing his mother’s invocation
His mother prayed that he would not be
a person who was beaten accused of adultery
The child replied
Make me like the person
Today, we're going to talk
about the companion of Juraij
The child who talked in the story of Juraij
Who was Juraij?
The Apostle ﷺ said
كَانَ جُرَيْجٌ رَجُلاً عَابِدًا
Juraij was a man who was devoted to Allah
fromthe People of Israel
فَاتَّخَذَ صَوْمَعَةً
فَكَانَ فِيهَا
He had got constructed a temple
Far from the settlement place,
on a high place
He confined himself in that temple
to worship Allah
فِيهَا فَأَتَتْهُ أُمُّهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي
One day, his mother came
Perhaps, she missed him
and wanted to visit him
But Juraij was praying
His mother called him
يَا جُرَيْجُ
O Juraij My Son
But he was praying, so he said
يَا رَبِّ أُمِّي وَصَلاَتِي
O My Lord, what do I do? He was asking
Do I continue my prayer or cancel it
to answer my mother?
فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِ
He continued with the prayer
فَانْصَرَفَتْ
His mother returned home
فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ
The next day, she returned to him
أَتَتْهُ His mother came again
فَقَالَتْ يَا جُرَيْجُ His mother called, O
Juraij
وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي Juraij was praying
And he said يَا رَبِّ أُمِّي وَصَلاَتِي
O My Lord, which one do I do?
Continue my prayer, or cancel it
to answer my mother?
فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِ
He continued with the prayer
فَانْصَرَفَتْ His mother returned home
again
فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ The next day
أَتَتْهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي
His mother came again
while Juraij was praying
His mother called him, O My Son, Juraij
Juraij said أَىْ رَبِّ أُمِّي وَصَلاَتِي
Answer my mother and cancel my prayer,
or continue my prayer?
فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى صَلاَتِهِ
For the third time,he chose to continue his
prayer
His mother was upset
And she invoked Allah
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُمِتْهُ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ
إِلَى وُجُوهِالْمُومِسَاتِ
My Lord, don't give him death unless
he has seenthe fate of the prostitutes
فَتَذَاكَرَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ جُرَيْجًا
وَعِبَادَتَهُ
The People of Israel were talking
about Juraijand his worshiping Allah
And they were jealous of Juraij
وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ بَغِيٌّ يُتَمَثَّلُ
بِحُسْنِهَا
There was a prostitute
who had been a beauty incarnate
A prostitute, known for her beauty
This woman told them
إِنْ شِئْتُمْ لأَفْتِنَنَّهُ لَكُمْ
If you like I can allure Juraij to evil
I will slender Juraij for you
Because they were jealous of Juraij
فَتَعَرَّضَتْ لَهُ
This woman went to Juraij’s place
and seduced him
In a narration
She spoke to Juraij
But Juraij did not care less
فَلَمْ يَلْتَفِتْ إِلَيْهَا
And Juraij did not turn his head
to the woman
What happened next?
فَأَتَتْ رَاعِيًا
كَانَ يَأْوِي إِلَى صَوْمَعَتِهِ
She came to a shepherd
who lived near the temple
فَأَمْكَنَتْهُ مِنْ نَفْسِهَا
and she offered herself
to the shepherd
to have intercourse with her
فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا
and he had a sexual intercourse
with her
فَحَمَلَتْ فَلَمَّا وَلَدَتْ
and so she became pregnant
arid when she gave birth to a child
قَالَتْ هُوَ مِنْ جُرَيْجٍ
she said: This is from Juraij
People got angry
فَأَتَوْهُ
So they came to Juraij
فَاسْتَنْزَلُوهُ
and asked him to get down from his temple
وَهَدَمُوا صَوْمَعَتَهُ
and demolished the temple
وَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَهُ
and began to beat him
Juraij said مَا شَأْنُكُمْ
What is the matter? What are you
doing?
They said
زَنَيْتَ بِهَذِهِ الْبَغِيِّ
You have committed
fornication with this prostitute
and she has given birth to a child
And Juraij said
أَيْنَ الصَّبِيُّ Where is the child?
فَجَاءُوا بِهِ They brought him (the child)
Juraij said دَعُونِي حَتَّى أُصَلِّيَ
leave me until I finish prayer
He took ablution and observed prayer
أَتَى الصَّبِيَّ After he finished,
he came to the child
فَطَعَنَ فِي بَطْنِهِ
He struck the child’s stomach
with his fingers
And Juraij talked to the child
يَا غُلاَمُ مَنْ أَبُوكَ O boy, who is your
father?
And the child replied
فُلاَنٌ الرَّاعِي He is such shepherd
The people realized
فَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَى جُرَيْجٍ
They turned towards Juraij
They kissed Juraij
They regretted and said
نَبْنِي لَكَ صَوْمَعَتَكَ
We are prepared
to construct your temple with gold
لاَ أَعِيدُوهَا مِنْ طِينٍ كَمَا كَانَتْ
No, just rebuild it with mud
as it had been from earth
My Fellow Muslims blessed by Allah SWT,
this is the story of Juraij
a righteous man from the People of Israel
He did a mistake
It might be because he had
no knowledge of it
Thus, the Apostle ﷺ
characterized Juraij as a person
who was devoted to Allah, a worshiper
but with not enough knowledge
Thus, when his mother called him
The scholar said, he should have
canceled his sunnah prayer
and answered his mother
And if he were doing mandatory prayers,
he shall finish fast
and answer his mother
The hadith shows how noble it is
to be devoted to your parents
That doing good to your parents
Is a cause for one to enter Paradise
And when Juraij’s mother got upset,
she invoked for Juraij
to give Juraij a lesson
She did not invoke,
O Allah, give death to my Son,
make him commit adultery with a prostitute
She invoked
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُمِتْهُ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ
إِلَى وُجُوهِ الْمُومِسَاتِ
My Lord, don't give him death unless
he has seen the fate of the prostitutes
My Fellow Muslims blessed by Allah SWT
This hadith explained about the karamah
(miracles) for the saints of Allah SWT
Observe Juraij, a righteous man
busying himself worshiping Allah
So, Allah granted him with karamah
that a child,
a baby in a cradle could speak
This is the faith of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah
that Allah grants karamah
to the saints of Allah
But this karamah is a gift from Allah
no specific knowledge needed prior to it
Allah grants His righteous servants
with no signal
when they need it
As for now, some people
They learn to get karamah with certain
rituals
certain sayings
certain dzikir
That is not karamah
Because there is no specific lesson
for karamah
It can come like that from Allah SWT
and Allah will stop it
if it is no longer needed
As for the hearsay that one can
learn something and be powerful
Know that that is sihr or shaman
One shall be aware not to be trapped
in associating Allah
or practices that are not recommended
in Islam
أقول قولي هذا واستغفر الله لي ولكم
من ذنب وخطيئة فأستغفره إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
الحمد لله على إحسانه، والشكر له على توفيقه
وامتنانه
وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده
لا شريك له تعظيما لشأنه
وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله
الداعي إلى رضوانه
أللهم صلي عليه وعل أله وأصحابه وإخوانه
معاشر المسلمين
Surely, in this story of Juraij,
there is a great lesson
as the Apostle ﷺ said:
تعرف إلى الله في الرخاء يعرفك في الشدة
Recognize Allah in times of ease
And He will remember you
in times of adversity
Observe Juraij who kept
on worshiping Allah SWT
In a difficult time, Allah helped him
by granting him karamah
And observe Juraij when he faced a problem
What did he do? دَعُونِي حَتَّى أُصَلِّيَ
Leave me for I shall pray
And that is the sunnah taught
by the Apostle ﷺ
Whenever we are in difficulty,
the first thing to do
is to complain it to Allah
كان النبي ﷺ إذا حزبه أمرٌ
فزع إلى الصلاة
When anything distressed the Apostle ﷺ
he prayed
Not like some of us
whenever facing a problem,
the first thing we have in mind is
To whom do I have to talk?
Who can help me?
Prior to all of these, one shall say
its complain to Allah SWT
Prostrate, ask Allah SWT,
whisper to the Lord of the Universe
Because all problems are
in the hand of Allah SWT
Observe how Allah mentioned
about the Apostles
In difficult times, they invoked Allah SWT
Allah SWT said about the Apostle Jonas AS
وَ ذَا النُّوۡنِ اِذْ ذَّهَبَ مُغَاضِبًا
فَظَنَّ اَنۡ لَّنۡ نَّـقۡدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ
فَنَادٰى فِى الظُّلُمٰتِ
اَنۡ لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡتَ سُبۡحٰنَكَ ‌ۖ
اِنِّىۡ كُنۡتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‌
When Jonas AS left his people in anger
He thought that We would not decree
anything upon him
And Allah punished him; he was swallowed
by a shark and taken into the sea
And Allah said:
فَنَادٰى فِى الظُّلُمٰتِ
Within darkness
The scholars said, the Apostle Jonas was
in the darkness of the shark’s belly
in the darkness of the night
and the darkness of the sea
Who can hear the voice of the Apostle Jonas AS
except the Lord of the Universe?
فَنَادٰى فِى الظُّلُمٰتِ
and he said
لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡتَ سُبۡحٰنَكَ
اِنِّىۡ كُنۡتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‌
O Allah, there is no deity except You
Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers
So, Allah SWT saved the Apostle Jonas AS
فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Had Jonas not been of those who exalt Allah
The scholars said, prior to the calamity,
Jonas was a person who prayed
Otherwise,
he would have remained in the shark's belly
until the Day of Resurrection
But Allah saved him because he had always
remembered Allah SWT
He always had always exalted Allah SWT
He recognized Allah at the time of ease
Thus, my Fellow Muslims,
blessed by Allah SWT
When we face calamity and problems
the first place to go and say
about our complaints
Is Allah SWT
As the Apostle Jacob AS said
إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَ حُزْنِي
إِلَى اللَّهِ
I only complain of my suffering
and my grief to Allah SWT
One shall not humiliate himself
by telling about his problems,
begging in the social media
Thus, before talking to anyone
the first place to go to complain
about his problems is to Allah SWT
Take ablution and observe prayer
to the Lord of the Universe
Another lesson we can take
from this story is
How Allah gives solution
from where one does not expect
Allah SWT said
وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا
وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ
وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ
And whoever fears Allah
He will make for him a way out
And will provide for him
from where he does not expect
Who would have thought? Juraij
was accused of adultery
And a child in a cradle could speak
No one would have thought of it
The baby spoke with the permission
of Allah SWT
to defend Juraij
There are a lot of stories
about righteous people
They are pressed, squeezed, pinched
And they raised their hands to the sky
asking Allah SWT
Although all doors are closed
The door of the sky would never
be closed and Allah gives them a way out
from where they do not expect
One shall have a strong faith
toward Allah SWT
and think good of Allah SWT
Another lesson we can take
from this story is
How Juraij had fear of Allah
when he was alone
A prostitute came to him
In another narration, the prostitute...
Imagine, the Apostle ﷺ said يُتَمَثَّلُ
بِحُسْنِهَا
She was the standard of beauty
It means that she was really pretty
When one talked about beauty,
she would be the reference
because she was really pretty
She came to Juraij when he was alone
seducing Juraij, singing
showing some of her beauty
showing some of her aurat
but Juraij did not care less
Juraij did not care less
He feared Allah when he was in front
of people and when he was alone
We shall contemplate our time today
Many people act as if they are
the saints of Allah SWT in front of others
But when they are alone,
they are the companions of satan
They adventure in sins in the virtual world
One shall fear Allah SWT
Observe the punishment
Juraij’s mother invoked for him
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُمِتْهُ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ
إِلَى وُجُوهِ الْمُومِسَاتِ
My Lord, don't give him death unless
he has seen the fate of the prostitutes
In a narration
when Juraij was taken by his people
to the village where the prostitute live
The prostitute got out of her house
and saw him and he saw her
He smiled and people asked him Why are you
smiling?
I remember my mother's invocation
This is what my mother invoked for me
Juraij’s mother considered that
seeing an adulterer
was a punishment from Allah SWT
And Allah granted
Juraij’s mother's invocation
Thus, one shall realize that
when he sees an adulterer
he is receiving the punishment
from Allah SWT
Meanwhile now, it is easy for us
to see the faces of adulterers
Just go to the Internet
and click whatever we want
If we see them without intending to,
Allah may forgive us
But the problem is some of us
try to look for them
Many cases
So-so commits adultery and the video
is spread and people want to find out
People want to see the faces
of women adulterers
It is in the news that this woman committed
adultery
people still want to see her face
while that was a punishment
at the time of the People of Israel
If only one realizes that one is doing a
punishment
A punishment from Allah when seeing a woman
adulterer
one will leave this thing
But that is the fitna in our time now
One shall fear Allah SWT
Seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT
to be kept away from seeing faces of women
adulterers
instead of enjoying it
Seeing their faces
We hope that Allah SWT protect us
from all fitna
Whether they are seen or hidden
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ
يصَلُّونَ عَلَىالنَّبِيِّ
يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ
وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ
وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ
وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
كمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ
وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،
إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُسْلِمِيْنَ
وَالْمُسْلِمَاتِ
وَالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
الأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَاْلأَمْوَاتِ
إِنَّكَ سَمِيْعٌ قَرِيْبٌ
مُجِيْبُ الدَّعَوَاتِ
وَيَاقَاضِيَ الْحَاجَاتْ
اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نُفُوْسَنَا تَقْوَاهَا
وَزَكِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا
أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوْلَاهَا
اللَّهُمَّ إنا نسْألُكَ الهُدَى،
والتُّقَى والعَفَافَ والغِنَى
ﺍﻟﻠﻬﻢ ﺣﺒﺐ ﺇﻟﻴﻨﺎ ﺍﻻﻳﻤﺎﻥ
ﻭﺯﻳﻨﻪ ﻓﻲ ﻗﻠﻮﺑﻨﺎ , ﻭﻛﺮﻩ ﺇﻟﻴﻨﺎ ﺍﻟﻜﻔﺮ ﻭﺍﻟﻔﺴﻮﻕ
ﻭﺍﻟﻌﺼﻴﺎﻥ
ﻭﺟﻌﻠﻨﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻟﺮﺍﺷﺪﻳﻦ
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً
وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّار
