Kind: captions Language: en [Music] this fall Nova is making more stuff in a new four-part series premiering in October on PBS levitating trains Ultra fast sailboats bomb sniffing plants swarms of flying robots what will the stuff of the future be made of New York Times technology correspondent and best-selling author David POG returns to guide viewers through stories of cuttingedge engineering Solutions and new materials that are shaping our future by making stuff faster colder safer and Wilder beyond the broadcast Nova's Education team is kicking off an Outreach campaign to bring opportunities for children ages 12 and up to play design create build and make stuff at 75 sites nationally so who should consider being a making stuff Outreach site are you a museum or a science center with a maker space looking for programming ideas and materials perhaps you're a community hacker space and are interested in engaging younger audiences maybe a library or university Department looking for outreach opportunities in engineering and Material Science if any of these sound like you then we hope you will consider joining The Making Stuff Outreach Community 75 applicants will be selected to be an official making stuff Outreach site each of these sites will receive a collection of of maker style projects containing all the activities and design challenges you need to get started a project box of physical materials needed to facilitate the projects and promotional materials including a banner t-shirt tattoos and more so what does a site have to do official making stuff Outreach sites are required to offer making stuff programming within the time frame of January through March 2014 think engine Year's week or Nano days display the making stuff Banner during that time period have at least one representative of your site join and participate in our making stuff Outreach community on Google+ preferably those who are facilitating the programs and finally participate in our evaluation upon the completion of the project okay okay so we had you at hello if you are interested in applying to become a making stuff Outreach site all you have to do is fill out our online application form at the URL on the screen by September 27th we will notify you of your application status by early October completing the application does not mean that you have been accepted as an Outreach site nor does it require that you accept if you are chosen as a site major funding for making stuff is provided by the National Science Foundation additional funding is provided by the US Department of Energy's office of science to find out more ways to get involved with making stuff check out Nova's making stuff Outreach page and we look forward to making stuff with you
